Here because my 9 year old was randomly singing this! He said he heard it in a video. I said "you know that song is from the 80s right?" I had to show him. He loves it!
he heard it in a show with heads coming out of toilets and singing and fighting a war against people with cameras for heads it has its called "skibidi toilet"

80's was a phenomenon in musical history.
The world was a better place...
You mean the Late 20th Century (1960-1999), which tbh isn't just pop and synth. There's so much music from that time, though British pure hard rock (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Motorhead, Fastway, and Judas Priest) is my favorite.

So lucky to be born in the 60s. Idolized the 60s, nostalgic for the 70s, teenager in the 80's, came into maturity in the 90s. 4 decades of great music we may never see again in our lifetimes.
As someone born in the 90's with deep musical roots due to my upbringing: I can't agree with you more. 60's - 90's music is quite possibly the best there ever will be in the foreseeable future
I was born late 50's but you've nailed it there
Alors ça c'est certain, la musique aura été de Jean-Sébastien Bach jusqu'à Coldplay. Après se sera le néant jusqu'à ce que le capitalisme s'écroule et que la musique redevienne un art et non une industrie source de profit

Legend
This song is a song that can be played in any generation and still be good
I was 11 or 12 when this song hit the airwaves ('85 or '86?). It was one of the biggest hits on the radio at that time. It rotated on MTV almost hourly. It's incredibly amazing how the mind hears a song and brings a tidal wave of memories and emotions back as if you're reliving your youth. Good, bad, happy, sad. Music is a powerful force. And to think this song was a last-minute add-on to the album is unbelievable. These guys and their producer were interviewed saying they personally thought it was garbage and wasn't worthy of publishing. Food for thought.
Let me sum up the 80’s music this way, I’m a black guy who grew up that era and I can’t cap, there was some great 80s rock and soft pop songs that I used to rock all the time. Tears for Fears was one of my favorite as well as Journey. I can remember cruising down Crenshaw Blvd in my 240z blasting their songs on the radio. That’s how much I loved 80’s music. Howard Jones, Madonna, Expose, etc…I could go on and on. But i can’t help waxing nostalgic when listening to these classics. I mean just the best cruising music ever. That’s what made driving so fun back then. It didn’t matter where you were going. Just pop in your favorite cassette and enjoy the ride. I’m glad I got to experience it firsthand.
Awww driving down Crenshaw Blvd and the music... the memories!! Your comment brought me back to those days.
I can't relate to the California part of your life, because I've never been there, but as a black man born in 1980 I grew up with this.
I was exposed to this sound thanks to my mother's tastes in music, so this feel good music was felt in North Carolina.
This group, and many others from the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s get plenty of rotation in the car to this day.
The Datsun 240z, what an awesome car
I’m a 49 year old brother in Houston who did the same exact thing. MTV had straight hood dudes knowing every lyric to rock n pop songs lololl and what I didn’t find on MTV I’d discover at AstroWorld… Golden times man
Man.... music is music. Is for everyone. Whatever gets you to where you gotta be mentally, that's all that matters
Absolute musical masterpiece . Probably the greatest " driving off into the sunset " song ever made.

Ever feeling hopeless?.. I do sometimes.
This song just reminds me of staying present, enjoying my day to day life, monotony, work, bills, all other gnarly stuff that I sometimes gotta force myself to do. But just look at these young lads singing their hearts out back in the 80’s, time is precious and ruthless, they are both over 60 now.

That is because it was; no wars, no pandemic, no insurrection. Just saying.
@@statwizard there was all of that in the 80s
HIV pandemic. Soviet-Afghan war. Fall of Berlin wall.. definitely a insurrection.
@@arturovilla1642 Perhaps true. But still a better time in the world than what we are experiencing now.
@@statwizard yeah you're right.
Yes
Such a cool song and even cooler video. Golden era of humanity and I’m a 92 baby.
"nothing ever lasts forever" that line alone gives me so much peace. On my hardest days of life I listen to this song and love it desperately and I was born in 2000
I was 17 when this song came out, and wished I would have lived in 50s. You will not know how much people wanted to live in your time, until you get my age . And you can tell them how great it was 😊
@@johnanderson2451 this was beautiful, thank you
all things must pass
2000 aswell 🙂
Hey I was also born in 2000! If it makes feel at peace, just remember the year 2000 is now closer to the 1980s than we are now to 2000
2024 - we play this at our gigs sometimes and people still love it. A timeless classic!
:)
that is dafuq!?boom! to all dance ⁚D
👇👀✔
Yes, I like this song 😊
💯
:D
This is my most favorite song in the whole wide world. Just wraps up all the good times for me as a snot-nosed kid doing kid things with my friends. Watching Real Genius for the 30th time...
This song makes me feel freedom for some reason! 10/10 it has a lot of sound and energy
I never get sick of this song...
@Harrison Powers Neither do I, man. I grew up in the '60s and '70s. I bet I've heard this song a gazillion times... And I've known for a long time that I will never get sick of it...EVER. 1 of my all-time favorites. I've probably played it 20 times tonight alone.
Same
Harrison Powers- Me neither. I play it a couple times a week, or so. It gets me in a good mood. I love the video, too!
Sameeee my little Gen Z's walking around singing it 😂🤣😂
In 1984, my parents got back together, picked me up in Louisiana from my grandmother's house and brought me back to Texas. My mom used to play a local music station during the day and this song was one of the ones I remember the most. The soundscape of my early childhood.
My parents also got back together - downside, I always felt I was walking on eggshells in the hope that my ma didn't leave again. Upside - it seemed to me the first time I realised beautiful, miraculous things might teuly happen out of a sadness in which I aged 10 or so felt torn apart. Since then I have seen quite a few more of these small miracles, thanks be to the Holy Spirit. Now we could do with a big miracle, of the kind Tears for Fears seem to allude to. "I" will be right behind you, when - as they had in The Bible - the walls (of Jericho) come tumbling down. So "I" here is Father, Son or Holy Ghost, and maybe all 3 in one!
That's an awesome memory.
@@sidpheasant7585 wow dude 😍☺️
@@Xanyy__ Just what I said when the Holy Spirit paid me a visit after I begged to be cleansed of my sins after receiving a scary-looking diagnosis just over a year ago. Having said "wow", I just kept saying "thank you" to myself repeatedly as it was hard to believe God could treat me (in every sense) in such a kind and merciful way. After that there was no way not to believe.
Greetings Rodney I recommend a song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
Legendary
My mom always tells 70’s,80’s and 90’s was the life to live the Golden Ages 😪 wish i could’ve experienced the years
"Nothing ever lasts forever" this maybe true, but this is a song that will give it a damn good try.
Where are you from?
Yes it will. Get a tear in my eye every time I listen to it.
Brilliant!
Yes sir
80s Songs hit different. They are truly amazing and they give u different vibes on life!🔥
Totalmente.
Jesus loves you alot trust in His death 4 salvation and be saved from eternal hell
o yıllarda gençtim o yılların ruhunu bu şarkıları dinleyerek yakalarsın. belki teknoloji fazla gelişmemişti ama insanlık arkadaşlık en üst düzeydi.
@@alligator5890 yep definitely
I feel the same - but still can’t put my finger on why exactly that is the case. As someone being born in 89 I still think it was a truely unique episode of time with such a huge impact on so many people.
Curt Smith can sing high registers in baritone like that without squinting and that is not easy to do.
