New Samsung phones are only full price for about a month or two. Then they’re discounted $50-$100, and by the 6-month mark, they’re $100+ off.
By the 1 year mark, you can get them for like 25% off. They have an insane depreciation curve, so if you can wait, I think that’s the best move.
But I do agree that upping the price on the S24 Ultra for example was a tough thing to justify

I have a Samsung A12 coming up to the end of a 3 year contract. Still working fine, just had a security update today. Only ever had a couple of minor hitches, Bluetooth can be a bit erratic and had to dig around for a solution to a USB charging/tethering setting which had a mind of its own. Only criticism I have of all current smartphones is that nobody makes a decent smaller screen mid price device, I have small hands and really don't enjoy messing with these 6.5 inch screens. I would love to see a 5.5 or even a 5.0 which isn't a cheapo Alcatel or similar.

Personal testimony: I got the A54 5G around last November brand new. I like it. It works great. Does everything I want it to do. It plays all my games great, too, such as Call of Duty Mobile, Need For Speed, Black Desert Mobile, Minecraft, etc.
I also like the premium look and feel of it, but I got a rubber casing that makes it look and feel even more premium to my hands.
The only things that feel like a downgrade from my last phone, which was BLU F91 5G, is A54 doesn't have a depth sensing camera, and a slightly smaller display. Everything else is an upgrade.

I want to replace my phone and my wife's phone this year, but am on a tight budget. I was looking at the Samsung A54 and now the A35. The CPU is more than powerful enough for regular use, the design is beautiful, great display, OneUi 6 and 4 years OS updates. But the biggest reason to get Samsung is something most people DON'T take into account when buying a new phone: service, support and accessories.
Samsung typically has a good warranty and service and where I live in Cyprus, their officially recognised repair centre partner offers 1 hour walk-in repairs exclusively for Samsung customers. That means if I crack the screen I can get it replaced in 1 hour with genuine parts and they will also preserve the water proofing, something you don't get with 3rd party repair centres who use generic junk. Also, since it will get 3-4 years OS updates I could replace the battery once a year, in an hour, and constantly have great battery life.
And this is where Nothing customers, Xiaomi customers, Vivo customers etc all miss out on. They don't have repair centres and there are ZERO cases and accessories on the market for them, unless you use Aliexpress and wait a month(!) for it to come....
Whereas there are TONS of Samsung accessories in every tech/book store I walk into. Even some petrol stations will carry their chargers etc.
I contacted Nothing to ask about repair times for the 2a because I like it too - 2-3 weeks minimum, up to 6 weeks max is what they told me...😱😱😱😱😱😱 I would have to send it to them and use smoke signals in the meantime to communicate......🀣 I mean, it's ridiculous. A lot of people will get bitten by that when they drop their phone.....

But most galaxy devices ive used did feel... meh. Even the s22 ones (exynos models) stuttered a bit sometimes, wich was really sad as they had such beautiful displays and all the nice things goodlock offers. The first one that really felt great was the s23u, my current device.
Maybe i can test the a54 somewhere bc up to now, i didnt even consider it as the soc is technically underperforming compared to other, cheaper devices and is just marginally better compared to the a34, the better buy imo. But yeah, ive always had not sooo good experiences with the a series
Also, the moto edge 30 feels amazing to use, is snappy and looks great - a bang for buck option imo

Help!! I am in my 80''s and have been using an LG Aristo forever. But now I must upgrade and am considering the Samsung Smartphone. I text, do banking, take few pictures, and because I live in the country, only use Tmobiles pay as you go plan. So it's only used when I hit town. Now for the problem. The phones that you recommend are huge. What I need is a small, but great quality Samsung that will have the "easy mode" feature. You have lots of great options but the phones are way to big to carry around. What is your advice?

They can regularly be had under 300$ for the ultra and around 200 for the fe and they are absolutely wonderful tlat these prices. Nobody with one of these has any real need to upgrade STILL. Along with the note 20 ultra, these phones have been absolutely stellar if you bought them at lunch to "future proof" as were pretty far into the future for a cell phone, and these phones are still absolutely top of the class in the budget and midrange

A54 is a good all rounder and a nice upgrade from A52s. Battery life is good. I paid 267 pounds from ebay seller which is a great deal. Thought id got used but found it was actually brand new. I first replaced A52s with pixel 7a but that phone is fab but buggy and stutters. The battery is also no better than a 2 year old A52s. So i got the A54 which on paper and in reviews loses badly on performance to the pixel but in reality is far smoother in most apps when scrolling. In games it'll cope just fine and be smooth if you lower the detail a bit or use samsungs game boost. The pixel has a better camera but its not night and day difference. Theres sometimes too much HDR in the pixel that makes samsung look nicer. Not better objectively but nicer. Pixel is almost pulling out more detail than you can actually see with naked eye. Camera is definitely a nice step up on A52s especially in low light.

Current Amazon pricing for new unlocked U.S. models is as follows: S24 $859, S23 $715, S23 FE $549, A54 $349. That looks like fairly rational pricing depending on your budget although not sure why anyone would pay that much for an S23 at this point when you can get the S24 for just $144 more. The A54 does look like the value play here although I’m happy having only paid $399 for my S23 FE.

    • @TechDaily
      @TechDaily  2 κ°œμ›” μ „ +1

Samsung's standard pricing structure isn't terrible - their biggest issue is depreciation. They discount their phones basically right when they launch ("double the storage on us" promotion) and then right now, half those phones (S23 FE, A54) are $50 off. The S24 Series will probably be $50 - $100 off again in a few weeks, so you feel kind of yucky if you pay full price for any of these. Because of that, renewed and second-hand Samsung devices are worth even less. I mean seeing a used S23 be worth $450 is a tough pill to swallow after only 1 year. You can't get an iPhone 13 Pro for less than $500, and that phone is 2+ years old

@@neils.9846A large supply. Samsung sell phones at every price range, which is good for the consumer when buying however. It reduces the perceived value of the brand, hence meaning that their phones depreciate fast. Also their midrange/budget sell better than the flagships. So they discount their flagships, immediately fate launch , further decreasing the perceived value. Whereas apple sells a few expensive phones and doesn’t really discount them.

@TechDaily on Malaysian's Samsung community, there's at least more than 10 users have reported getting either green, white, or pink vertical line(s) on their Galaxy S21 FE. Coincidentally, it all happens after upgrading to OneUI 6. Mine happens after the Jan 1 Google Play system update, although I wouldn't fully blame on faulty software. I've only been using it for over a year, and I expected myself to use this phone for another 3-4 years, but I guess I'll seek for an upgrade anytime soon. Realistically speaking, I couldn't justify paying for repair that's of not my fault and admit that it's just manufacturing defects because my older Galaxy A50s is still going okay despite the burn-in the display has and the wear and tear its been enduring.
