40년이상 클래식을 들어오면서 이렇게 감미롭게 속삭이고 울컥하게하고 희열에 들뜨게하고 마음을 따듯하게 해줘 매일 찿아 몇번씩 반복해서 듣게 하는건 윤찬군이 처음입니다 윤찬군의 손은 마법의 손이내요 클래식을 많은 국민이 트로트처럼 사랑하는 음악이 되게 만들어준 윤찬군의 노고에 경의를 표합니다 윤찬군의 모짜르트 베토벤 라흐마니노프 리스트를 몇번이나 들었는지 셀수가 없고 매일 하루종일 들어요 윤찬군과 너무나 호흡을 잘 맞춰준 알솝지휘자님과 단원분들 그리고 우리의 고귀한선물 윤찬군에게 너무나 감사해요

I get the feeling Lim will eventually start composing his own variations, if not his own works outright. No doubt he loves playing the repertoire, and has a profound and gorgeously expressed appreciation for the music, but it’s hard, for me at least, not to sense that there is more than a prodigiously gifted performer at work here.

I have 20 recordings of this marvelous concerto in my collection... and NONE OF THEM can match that absolute "hovering, unearthly majesty" of Lim's entrance of the 2nd movement (at 39:18... even Marin Alsop looks like she's about to burst into tears!). I have now played it over and over again (at least 10 times!) and I'm convinced that we - the lovers of all things classical music - are in the presence of a VERY special pianist in one Yunchan Lim! My goodness, just the thought of his playing gives me shivers... and that's the RIGHT reaction! BRAVO, Mr. Lim... now go and take the Cliburn GOLD! Mike D

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra was stunningly beautiful in the Beethoven Concerto led by Marin Alsop. Yunchan Lim never ceases to amaze and this performance of his was nothing short of stellar. It was wonderful to see his collaboration with conductor Marin Alsop and his sensitive co-operation with the soloists and orchestra. This was truly Beethoven at its finest.

This 3rd concerto is typical or ''classic" Beethoven, not with the fire of 5 or the utter beauty of 4, so in this competition it would be a challenge for the soloist to lift it from the expected. And from his very clean commanding opening, Yunchan did just that throughout. He was with the conductor and the orchestra throughout, encouraging them to greater heights than I'd even anticipated, being both a leader in his team and a great team player. Well done.

베토벤의 어려운 교향곡중의 하나를 그냥 가볍게 소화 해 내네요. 하긴 쇼팽의 변주곡, 리스트의 초절기교 12 파스를 완벽하게 연주하는 실력이니 윤찬군에게 이 곡은 식은죽 먹기 처럼 쉽게 느껴지는 것처럼 보입니다. 이런 연주자를 발굴해낸 van clivern 이 오리려 행운 입니다

호스트패밀리 분이 피부병리학 의사시던데, 그분이 댓글에 남긴글을 보면, 임윤찬의 전형적인 스케줄은 오후1시-2시 사이에 시작된 연습은 새벽4시경 마친다. 엄마가 준비한(윤찬군 어머님이 동행하셨나봐요) 저녁을 먹고 30분정도 쉬는 것이 휴식의 전부다. 새벽 1시경 박사님이 간식을 가져다 주셨는데, 잉글리쉬머핀에 버터와 딸기잼 발라 주면 좋아했다. 임윤찬은 모든 연주를 핸드폰에 녹음해서 그 부분을 맘에 들때까지 연습했다. 그리고 한 패시지를 리듬을 다르게 연습해서 왜 그렇게 하느냐고 물으니, 그래야 손가락마다 편차없이 균형을 잡을수 있다라고 했다. 그는 커피는 절대 안 마시고 물만 마신다. 그리고 그는 나무를 좋아한다……라고… 손민수 교수님이 말씀하셨죠. 타고난 천재에 그 타고난 천재성과 비교도 안될 정도로 어마어마한 연습량… 이게 임윤찬이라구요. 타고난 감각, 센스를 넘어서는 구도자와 같은 그의 태도가 우리에게 음악의 힘과 감동을 주는 겁니다.

I do not know how to describe my feeling after watching Mr. Lim's Beethoven concerto and I just wish he could be the Winner of the competition. He is so so fantastic and he is only 18 years old. What a wonderful future he will have. Mr Seong Jin-cho is my favourite Chopin winner and Mr Lim will be my favourite Cliburn winner!!!! Bless him!!!!!!

Perfect technique, expressing subtle nuance and various tone color, ... To me, Lim is better than Seong jin Cho (not that I dislike Cho). I am 100% sure he will be the winner in this competiton.

한국에서 듣는게 더 쉽지 않을까요? 전 지난 10월에 윤찬군의 휴스턴 콘서트때 직장을 하루 반 쉬고 갔다 왔답니다. 이번 7 월에 콜로라도 베일에서 마린 알솝과 뉴욕필이 같이 라흐마니노프 3번을 연주한다기에 마침 휴가라 즉석에서 예매를 했는데 적어도 이틀동안을 꼬박 운전해서 가야해요. 물론 비행기로 갈수도 있는데 시간에 구애받고 싶지 않고 덴버에서도 한참을 가야해서 그냥 남편과 같이 운전해서 가기로 했답니다. 지금도 그날만 기다리며 기대에 부풀어 있답니다. 😊 콜로라도는 벌써 매해 갔던 곳이라 낯설진 않아서 다행이랍니다. 전 남부 텍사스 샌앤토니오에 살거든요.

One thing I love to see Yungchan`s performance, is that he doesn't show any exaggerated motion in playing but just he described the composer`s intension throughout the performance. His natural motions just help us know how deep, or high the music could expand our understanding~ i.e. I love everything done by him as a gentle demeanor.

YunChan's 2nd mvmt especially the entrance of it is the most beautiful one Ive ever heard. I love 1st and 3rd as well. I can listen to his music forever and wont never get bored. This means a lot! Tonight Ive watched his performance 3 times already!
Truly I appreciate his inspiring and divine music. YunChan is a genuine musician in depths! Hope he continues to share his talents with us for a long time.

He did a fine job; however, let’s not go overboard in our praise for this particular performance of Beethoven! I give Lim high marks for his skills and success in the competition this far, but his Beethoven wasn’t awe-inspiring.

@@bertcarter6176 To me it was definitely awe-inspiring. I love all his performances. In fact I am a pianist and a piano teacher with lots of experiences. This is my view. We cant deny that YunChan is an amazing pianist so I give him the praises and express the appreciation for all his hard works and talents!

@@classical.pianist For me, yes, I felt there is something different due to the physical environment of a concert hall and presence of audience. There is this energy from and the direct connection with the soloist musician and live orchestra that you just wouldn't be able to get when you are listening to their performance on KRplus. I enjoyed all of their playings but no particular favor yet. Looking forward to listen to their second performance of music by another composer.

어떤 피아니스트들은 자기가 너무 빠져서 흐느적거리는거, 특히 얼굴표정 정말 보기 좀 부담스럽던데
임윤찬은 아주 샤프하면서 담백하니,, 얼굴표정도 과도한 표정없이 고급져서 더 좋다.
연주또한 클알못도 빠져들게할만큼 예술성도 좋고, 기교도 좋고, 설득력 갑이다.

We shall see if they substitute a new conductor today for Anna, Choni, and Khandohi. The conductor on the first day is not involved, therefore the orchestra did not play well. If they use a different conductor today, it would be unfair to Lim, Shmukler and Stephenson!
