Ater 3 months listening everyday more than 5 hours Yunchan's concerto, I noticed what makes him so special. He doesn't only play the piano, but also makes story and movie for 20-60min. Just indescribable! I bet, he also will be the greatest conductor and composer.

32년전 동네 음반 가게에서 라흐마니노프 피아노협주곡 테이프를 사서 멋도 모르고 들었는데 지금 100년만의 이곡을 천재적으로 연주한 피아니스트가 한국에서 탄생하는 것을 목격한다. ㅎ~

What an incredible young master of Beethoven!
I'm so sure this is what Beethoven himself heard in his mind when he wrote this.

Eroica, one of my favorites, especially the symphony. I have nothing more to say, one of the best pianists to live in this generation, other than how delightful his phrasing is, his control and range in dynamics is extraordinary. He plays, and the rest is history.

샤인 영화를 보고 몆달간 앓이를 했습니다.
헤이날수가 없었죠. 라흐마니호프 피아노협주곡 3번은 나의 최애곡입니다,
그러나 수많은 피아니스트의 공연을 제대로 본적은 없습니다. 샤인을 본 그때의 감성이 살아나지 않았어요. 임윤찬의 라흐3번을 두달동안 몇번을 봤는지... 임윤찬이 내 삶을 흔들었습니다. 작곡가에서 연주가로 최애가 바뀌는 사건이 벌어졌네요, 그리고 그가 연주하는 모든 곡을 사랑하게 됐습니다,
정말 놀라운 기적같은 현상이네요,

Glenn Gould played these Variations in the 50s and 60s, but they are rarely heard these days. Yun Chan’s is big, full of colour and changes of character. His version of Beethoven’s Bagatelles Op 33-a study for these Variations perhaps? Big, ambitious in scale, not student material.

You can undoubtedly hear that he has worked and mastered Bach contrepoint. I had the impression at some points that he was playing some Bach. For me he is the top-notch pianist of his generation. Perfectly mesmerising 👌

또 다른연주자의 곡을 듣고싶어지는데
이상하게 윤찬군의 연주을 듣고나서는 다른연주에 흥미가 생기질 않아 다시 윤찬군연주를 반복해서 듣게 되는게 신기합니다 혹 음악에 마법을 걸어놓은 걸까요?

I am not one for superlatives, but Yun Chan‘a performance deserves all the accolades and applause. I’m struggling to put the words together. Just unbelievably genuine and transcendental.

I desperately hope someone makes a film about all Yunchan Lim's renditions so that classical music fans can listen to his music while he is playing in his teens. I don't want to miss his teenage music because it seems that the sensibilities and pristine innocence of this age make his music shine even more. At this level, it's better he reduces the number of concerts around the world and someone like The Cliburn gets a professional team for him to record in perfect acoustics, and then CLASSICAL MUSIC would be shown in cinemas for the first time. Considering the world's classical fans, I guarantee millions viewers will flock to the cinemas.

I have been to The Cliburn since 1981 and blessed to see hundreds of marvelous pianists. Obviously there have been many deserving winners - I was floored by Kholodenko in 2013 and absolutely mesmerized by the blind Nobuyuki Tsujii in 2009 (I swear they was not a dry eye in the hall when he played), but this young man is truly beyond description! I hope he brings the joy of his incredible talent to the world for years to come!

15:32 I like watching him looking upward. He seems to be communicating with the soul of great composers, and also dedicating his playing to them.

손민수 교수님 말처럼 정말 피아노 치려고 태어났구나. 피아노 치면서 어떻게 이런 행복한 모습이 나올까. 경연인걸 떠나서 피아노와 음악과 사랑에 빠진것 같다. 그누가 흔들어도 너의 음악적 지조를 지키라는 스승의 조언에 깊게 고개 끄덕이던 모습에 다시한번 역사에 남을 음악가가 되리라고 믿어 의심치 않는다.

Yunchan’s playing is mesmerizing. His understanding of this piece is absolutely phenomenal. It’s as if I’m listening to a symphony orchestra.

피아노 음악을 좋아해도 클래식 완곡으로 듣기보다는 좀더 대중적인 곡 위주로만 들어왔습니다. 하지만 임윤찬 님의 연주를 접하고 부터는 전곡을 숨죽여 보고 듣게 됩니다. 듣는 내내 다른 일을 할 수가 없네요. 너무 아름다운 선율과 지루할 틈을 주지 않는 순간들에 온 몸에 소름이 돋고 전율이 흐릅니다. 감사합니다 ~~
