4 floors would be great when you have teenagers and want separate space from them, but I can’t imagine having that many floors with toddlers! Baby gates on baby gates on baby gates!

    • @KaMaJuSo
      @KaMaJuSo 5 년 전 +3

I grew up in a house with 4 floors it is nice as a child as well as a teen. We had all children bedrooms on the same floor as the masters and they put a fence in front of the stairs. That way it is pretty easy. And I love when it is a skinny tall built, the spacing usually is so much better.

  • @fpstaginganddesignnashvill9321

Thanks SO much for the shout out! We LOVED staging this house! :)

  • @kimberlybellefontaine1215

Something that was ALWAYS important to me when looking at homes (or when we were building a home) was the direction the house faced. I always wanted a kitchen facing East.....because I wanted sunlight streaming into the kitchen in the morning when I drank my coffee/made breakfast for my family. I also did NOT want the hot afternoon sun coming in the great room/family room windows. So no West facing great room or family room. Just something to take into consideration if anything like that is important to you. Light/sun coming into the house was always very important to me.

Definitely the best house you've seen so far, but you seem to be giving up/compromising with a lot of what you originally wanted (privacy, space, number of rooms) which I think you should focus on with the next house and then compare with this house to see how important your main factors really are.

  • @adamtravis9380

I feel like the staging is what is swaying y’all. The privacy is terrible and the lot is small! I think if the other house was staged you wouldn’t like this one the best

    • @dcmc7383
      @dcmc7383 5 년 전 +11

Did you watch the same video? Shawn and Andrew both remarked they loved the staging and totally said it influenced how welcoming the house feels and wanted the folks who staged the house to decorate for them. Andrew said he would take it “as is.”
While I see why you like it, I agree with Adam. Remember what you really need it for. Narrow, small lot, too much sq footage lost to stairs, kids’ room into attic was weird, four floors with new babies will be horrible (your living/entertaining space will end up full of kids stuff because it’s so hard to take everything back upstairs to put away), short one bedroom, great room really wasn’t that big and outdoor space will only be used for 2-3 seasons, split up basement...beautifully decorated and appointed, but not a well designed house at all.
      Keep looking!!!!

My last house was a beautiful historic 4 story home in St. Louis. While there were many things I loved, the 4 stories did get old. Tall and skinny chops up the home and for us seemed less inviting and isolating. We moved last year out of the downtown city and now have ranch home with 32 acres. I love the peace and privacy we have. I'm much more relaxed. Hope you guys find your dream home and thanks for taking us along on the journey.

I am voting on coffee and wine. Grew up in Texas with no basement, moved to KY with a basement that flooded, now I am in Georgia with no basement. No doubt this house is beautiful but what I loved most about it was the furniture and not the space. I think the stairs would be tough if you want kids/parents visiting in the future. But maybe for you all the third time was the charm. Thanks for the videos!

Hey my hubby built some amazing condos in Canmore Alberta Canada, on Rock we all have basements up here, usually for storing our canning, or cold storage, in the old days we grew large gardens, hunted, fished, and stored food for the year... I’m so proud of my husbands award winning work.. he’s highly respected by developers & architecture firms, but retired now... those stairs will keep u in shape..

  • @ALittleBitBiscardi

As someone who has too little ones that house is not child friendly. I also agree about the trim of the home showing building quality. As far as basements go, they are not common in the silcon valley but our home was built in the 1950's and has a tiny one.

I grew up in a suburb of Dallas and I’ve never been in a home with a basement. There’s two main reasons: 1) basements are culturally a Northern thing possibly bc there is less open space to play with so you have to build up or down. In Texas there is a lot of open space and sprawl so we don’t have to worry too much about the footprint of our houses. 2) it’s very costly due to the geography. There is a really high water table in our ground and there is a lot of clay soil, both cause major cracking in normal foundations so a basement would take lots of specialists, geotechnical engineers, and structural engineers to ensure the basement was built to the absolute highest quality or it could pose many issues down the road. My family built our home through a builder (not a custom home) in 2001 and there are already major foundational issues where our tile on our kitchen floor has a giant crack running from one side of the house to the other bc our foundation is cracking. Basements are possible, just very time-consuming and costly, but I have heard that they can be insanely profitable in the long term for resale value bc a TON of people are transplanting to Texas with their companies who are relocating headquarters, and many people from other states want a basement. Love this series y’all are doing!! But maybe that’s because I’m an architect😋

Would rate this a 9. The house itself is perfect! I don’t think the staging is a problem, we have 3 floors and it always was fine. Now my brother and I have one floor to ourselves and it’s perfect because my parents can sleep even when we have friends over and stay up late. The privacy isn’t perfect for you guys but the other houses weren’t any better. So for me it would be a 10 but for you maybe a 9.

Being able to have a nursery close to you is great, but honestly I moved into a house where the kids rooms were on a different floor when they were 5/6 and I love it. When we moved last year when they were 16/17 it was a deal breaker for me. I had to have their rooms on a different floor. Now we have 3 floors and my mom lives on the bottom floor, the kids have their rooms in the middle and the master is on the 3rd floor.

I agree with most comments, I think the staging may possibly be what you guys are loving about the home. Having babies and toddlers with four floors is going to be TOUGH! I'm one of those people that, when walking through my potential home, I think about everyday things. So like, a carload full of groceries. For this house all I kept thinking was, "would I have to carry grocery bags up 7 million steps or would I have to unload my car at the front of the house and then drive around to the garage to park?" When you have your little kiddos, you're going to have to buy a ton of baby gates for those stairs on every level. The elevator is cool and totally bougie in an awesome way, but it's also another safety concern with little fingers. The small details are gorgeous but I remember both of you saying that you wanted a nursery on the first floor with you, and I don't think you have that with this house? Just my thoughts.

I do have to say that stairs with small children is really a big deal. Breaking up the space between so many levels will make it difficult until they're around 3/4. Especially with hard stairs, carpet is a little better. Something to keep in mind!

  • @jasmineleopard7593

Love this house. Just remember, gym space and office space are flexible. One you have kids, you’ll probably use all those things less so you could maybe do a shared office or office/gym combo? Or you could even put a small desk in the guest room for whoever needs less office stuff. We ended up turning a big sunroom into a joint office and we love it. Just thoughts :). Hope you guys find the perfect house.

I like this one too! 8 or 9 for sure. I'm also not crazy about it being 4 floors, but like that the in-law suite is basically on its own separate floor away from everything else (I think?) & that there's a basement. Is there potential to reno the basement layout and utilize some of that unfinished space to create 2 rooms - a big open "playroom" and a larger gym area (maybe not right away, but a project further down the road, use the garage as gym for now)? Also, re: the master at the front, I could see why it isn't ideal, but also I've heard people with kids like having the master on the front so they're aware in the evenings if anything is going on out front, what time older kids get home, etc.

Most of the time your bedroom will have closed curtains if your house is so close to other homes, but I agree, having your bedroom in the front of the house is not the greatest. Love the kitchen and main floor!!! I actually think the yard is a good size. I grew up in Colorado with large yards and basements. Definitely recommend basements. Safety, keeping cool in the summer, playing music LOUDLY, and more. I agree with the others here...staging was something you both were commenting on a lot, and maybe too much.

I didn't like the kids room at all. There's no room for them to play and the beds look dangerous. Too many stairs for little kids and when you are sleep deprived carrying a baby down there. The neighbors are too close again. If the neighbors are night owls they may keep you up coming and going all night. I rate this one a 3. I do like the elevator for bringing stuff down from the upper floors.

I think this is actually my least favorite house so far. Idk I’m just not feeling it, there’s nothing unique or special about it.

personally, I grew up in a skinny tall house, 4 floors just like this one, now that I'm about to go to uni, and I have friends over all the time both my parents and I love having sperate floors. They have the whole top floor as their master suite, something you could think about down the road when your kids grow up. Also, stairs make great exercise and the elevator would be perfect for accessibility issues. Having kids rooms on the same level as the master would make this house great for growing into, as when the kids are young you can get to them easily in the night, but as they grow up, you can spread out. The choppy basement would make for great teenage rooms down the road. The staging is likely allowing this house to stand out, I do think the layout of the others make somewhat more sense for what you guys seem to be looking for. Keep in mind as your kids grow up sharing rooms and having their own space will be topics of discussion, speaking as a teenager I can say that the little bunk room would feel cramped especially if I was sharing it with a sibling. I am IN LOVE with this kitchen though!

Basements are amazing! I grew up in a house with a large finished basement. (Michigan). That was our family space for years. When I buy my first house that will definitely be something I look for.

I'm gonna say it again: you need an apartment over the garage so Nastia will have a place to grow old.

Better, better, better!! This looks so much closer to what y'all are wanting. Seems the main things to think about are yard space, and levels. I'm going to rate it a 7, because I'm not convinced it's your "dream home", and I want you two to LOVE your next place

First, I vote you make all three!!!
Second, you could use that "weird" room in the basement as an office. With its own entrance and whatnot, I think it could totally work. I'd also consider removing those bunk beds & making that a built-in desk with overhead storage for another office since ya'll want two.

Your agent is still NOT listening to you - and you dont seem to be listening to yourselves. The first thing I saw was - neighbours - on both sides and way too close!!!! They can see in through the windows!!! You did say you wanted, needed PRIVACY!!!! As for the staging. I prefer to see a house with NO furniture. They may have other peoples furniture, but it wont look like YOUR furnituure so I dont see how someone elses furniture will sway you. You need to STOP with the furniture and look at what you want. Did you want neighbours? NO!! These neighbours are way too close. Did you want a big yard? YES. This back yard is way too small!! Do you really need 4 storeys? I think a Ranch style house would be better for you guys - with extra rooms for guests and all one level for the children!!!! Maybe a half step up level at the very least. The only thing that house had were the views and that is all it had!! Nothing else.

While the house looks great. You two are foolish to settle on less than 5 acres for a lot size! Which if that means getting outside of Nashville Get out City Living in reality SUCKS!

By far my favorite of the three. I think with kids, in laws, and long term use the elevator would definitely come in handy.
You two need to make your own brand of wine. 😍

This house is an 8 in my opinion. I am not crazy about the master and smaller yard. I do love the main floor area and the in-law suite and views!! You are always going to compromise on something when you house hunt, so if this ticks most of your boxes and you get that homey feeling then your hearts are speaking to you! Make wine! Also, I grew up in Houston, TX where there are rarely basements and now live in Toronto, Ontario and have a basement. Love having that extra floor or our bungalow would be pretty small!!

  • @meghanmoriarty2395

I would rate it a 10. Honestly if I grew up in this home with so many floors I would love it.

I grew up in the Midwest, St Louis, and nearly every place we lived was between 50-100 yrs old and all of them had a basement. I love this house and stairs(?)well they are good for a cardio workout. 😂

I love this one. The style from the outside looks like french building and it is so modern and beautiful on the inside. And no it is not common to have a basement. And your should make coffee. Love you guys

This is the best house yet! Definitely all three, Coffee, Honey and Wine! I'm not sure about the master bedroom on the front. You'd need to put a fine net curtain like voiles at the side windows to allow a little privacy.

You could make the small weird room by the gym into an area to put mats or anything extra for the gym/or gymnastics room to make it less crowded when you’re not using the equipment.

I wouldn’t worry about stairs, when they’re babies you carry them and they only crawl for a few months before you teach them how to handle stairs! One baby gate at the bottom and one on their bedroom door and your sorted. You and your kids adapt to your environment! They grow up quicker than you realise so don’t miss out on your dream home because of a few months of kids not being able to do stairs x

In southeast PA basements are normal, and when I lived in Ohio they were a MUST (the tornado siren was in the field next to our house - my parents didn't know what it was when they bought the house... they learned). This house is gorgeous but I don't know how I feel about it for small children with all those stairs? Also the lot is small, and if you have a playset and want to keep an eye on the kiddos from the living room, it might be more difficult to just glance up out the window because it's a floor above the ground (if that makes sense?). Either way, it's a beautiful house, and I know you would be able to make it work since it's DEFINITELY big enough! Loving the series!!

Being disabled the elevator and master on the first floor are awesome. I love the whole house. We don’t tend to have basements here in Oregon
