No tour and no Vuelta.... maybe Thomas should do the Vuelta with Egan. Egan is looking so strong nowadays. Can't wait to see him in tour of suisse or dauphine.

i think its pretty weird to not do the Tour when you abandon the Giro after 1 week of (not so hard) racing. now his whole year will consist of LBL, classica san sebastian and the tour of Lombardia. and ofcourse the world championships. Thats only 4 real days of battling on such a young age. i dont count all the preparation races cuz they dont really count for him. IF i were him i would just announce to not ride the Tour for the GC but focus on day wins, that way he doesnt have to deal with the pressure (cuz i think thats the real reason he doesnt ride the Tour, being scared to be way behind Pogacar in the GC). Otherwise it makes no sense to me to stop racing for so long time, cuz it will be like almost 3 months of no racing. and all that cuz you dont want to deviate from the preset plan? what if he gets injured right before San sebastian, then he only did 1 real race this whole year...
Look at Roglic, who is maybe even going to ride the Tour, after battling it out for 3 long weeks in the Giro.

@@daniluis7777 hahaha i wouldnt call him a coward, but i do think he and Lefevre are way too careful and it might turn out in 10 years when they look back they think they were too careful. For example it could be the case that this year would have been Evenepoels best chance to ever win the Tour. Maybe Pogacar doesnt have the best preperation this year and he becomes even more dominant the next years.

So now he goes to Suisse (though Lefevere didn't like it), but TdF is not going to happen, unless maybe he blows TdS out of the water?
I think Tour of Britain was just floated as a possibility, but it always was more likely that Remco goes to the Canadian races instead, since he apparently wants to ride them again after also doing them in his first pro year. But even the vuelta is apparently not entirely off the table according to newer rumours, so we'll have to wait and see.
I think the reason they don't want to send him to the TdF this year might be what happened with the Giro '21, where he restarted too early (and they kind of knew it) in a free role for experience and stages (like would be the goal in this TdF initially), but that quickly changed into a GC goal instead, one he wasn't ready for at that time and it completely backfired in their faces, even setting Remco a bit back again. Since them they seem to take things more slowly, with proper preparation. It makes sense and is not a bad thing, but you also can't just keep doing that his entire career, there needs to be some flexibility.

My guess is depending on how Primoz recovers . I would not rule out Primoz going to the TDF and I would be surprised if Primoz could win the holy grail as Chris Horner calls it.

Yeah Remco was supposed to be the next “big thing” in cycling.
There has been a lot of pressure on him to win.
If he is not in form then he did the right thing by not entering TDF.
I wish him luck, but time is passing him by.
Really sad he was not in top form to battle Pogacar and Vingegaard; would have been good!

Patrick Lefevre is a really bizarre device bitter bean counter. He should go to the world's and pull a Remco and 70km ride away win, if he wins Lombardia that would be cool because he could win MSR. Ewan your 💯% right Egan Bermal was 22 when he won the TDF as well

What I hope I hope he’s doing is learning to stop saying “my team.” In pro cycling it’s “the team” or “our team.” After all, it’s Patrick Lefevere’s team and the moment he forgets that he will be looking for a new team. “My team” is a tell for the massively inflated opinion he has for himself.

Guys, you don't know what shape Remco is in. Winning the time trial with Covid in his body cannot have been healthy. Maybe Lefevere is unclear because Remco is struggling to get back to his best form. The logical choice would have been Switzerland. If not, it means they are stalling. Sending Remco to the tour if covid left traces is nonsense. You are speculating without know how well he is recovering. Remco running out of time? Look at his palmares and tell me he is running out of time???

@@dirgsuite5546 It makes sence if you know that Evenepoel did never beat Roglic, Pogacar or Vingegaard in a multiple stage race. And I mean a stage race in which all finished. He expected to have an advantage of 3 minutes on Roglic and the others after that second TT, but with just a half minute he already knew that he would never win the Giro. So having Covid was very convenient.
Lefevre doesn't want Evenepoel to compete against Vingegaard or Pogacar because the hype about Remco will be over straight away if he finishes the Tour five minutes behind one of them.
(That is how some anti-Remco people think. But don't worry not me. 😉✌)
But I agree that Evenepoel can't keep on not racing the Tour. Next year he will be in his mid-twenties already and he has never raced the Tour. He has been professional for five seasons already and does only have three Grand Tour participations, from which he didn't finish two of them.
When it comes to winning stage races at World Tour level his palmares is very poor with only overall classification wins at UAE, Poland and the Vuelta. He's not the new kid on the block anymore and by far not the youngest rider in the peloton neither, so yes the clock is ticking.
Before you know it the next generation of super talents is there and his days are over.

@@swissbiggy If you look at 2 monuments, 2 classics, a world title, world podium a Vuelta win, European champion TT, all TT podiums and numerous one week tours, I don't see how anyone can minimalize his palmares. Also bear in mind how often he wins races solo. Plus the time he was recovering from his accident. If he keeps going like that, even without ever winning a grand tour again, the hype is still justified. So many seem to think that Remco his career can only be succesful until he beats the best in every discipline, time and time again. No one, is putting these demands on Vingegaard. What a nonsense!
