Y'all are saying he was wrong about Cap and Tony, but I don't think he was very far off. Narratively, his predictions were 100% accurate: Tony did settle down and Cap did show that he was willing to lay down his life for the greater good (standing up to Thanos' army).
And, he knew from the start this was caps last movie.

Thanos was a politician, basically. He didn’t actually care about balance, he just cared about power and proving himself right on his ideals. It’s almost 100% likely that his home planet was destroyed not by famines and wars, but by Thanos himself. Thanos in Endgame was Marvel’s way of revealing all this and showing you that all he _really_ wanted was to feel like he was a god.

@Allison von Steuben My theory is that Captain didn't give Falcon the shield because he's a better friend than Bucky or something, Cap gave the shield to Falcon because he still doesn't know if Bucky is still stable or not. Also another theory says that maybe Bucky didn't want the shield coz' when Cap went in the time traveling thing Bucky wasn't too surprised that he didn't come back so they probably already told each other in advance. Plus isn't Bucky and Cap just childhood friends? Maybe Cap just sees more potential in Falcon than Bucky coz' he's younger and more willing to fight.
Well we all know why Steve didn’t give the shield to Bucky.
But why he gave it to Falcon is a mystery. Perhaps it’s because Falcon is the weakest link in the Avengers - just like Cap was when he first started out. Maybe he wanted to give it to the underdog.

I think what happened to Cap does have something to do with his whole idea of sacrifice, but not in the way that you would think. No, he did not sacrifice himself for anyone in Endgame. Instead, he took his chance to have the one thing he wanted most. He had sacrificed so much for everyone around him, that now was his chance to get what he wanted. A life with the woman he loves.
It was selfish, which kinda makes it the perfect closer for him. He is known as the character who gives everything for others, and now, he can finally do something for himself. He can finally be selfish.

The irony of Mat's predictions for Tony and Captain America was that he was spot on about their story arcs, and where we should expect them to go if the goal was to make complete fulfilling arcs with a final payoff. Realistically, I think the only thing he didn't account for was the MCU deciding to completely upend these arcs, and not give them the "self-fulfilling" arcs, perhaps as a twist of irony, or a way to show that there's no true destiny for any of their characters. As many problems as I have with End Game as a whole, personally I really liked this aspect of it.

Cap left the franchise to go live his own life, but didn't technically die (although where he is in Falcon and Bucky is anyone's guess).

He analyzes these films really well and got a couple of them right but now, seeing how much he got wrong, just goes to show us how well Marvel sets up their dominoes and twists our expectations by knocking them down in a different direction.
