Matpat, this is the seventh time you’ve brought “solved fnaf” for show and tell

I just realized that using the Foxy grid to solve the crying child's name is pretty fitting, considering his connection with Foxy. (Michael scaring him with Foxy).

I really hope that I'm not the only one who doesn't play FNAF but excessively binges FNAF game theories and Markipliers FNAF videos

Fun fact: if you pause at 4:03 exactly right, one of the garbled text actually says "Crying Child" before it becomes ungarbled.

Obviously the crying child responds with "I'm scared" to Cassidy's question of "What is your name?", so his name is actually Scared 😱

As we speak of Crying Child's real name. I think it's Dave. Wolfier and Godzilla theorized that the bite-victim is named Evan but hte problem with the final answers is "I'm scared". Wolfie had problems with the answer that broke his methodology and Godzilla thinks that the answer matches with page 47, but how is it related? So I decided to give it a shot so the final answer "I'm scared" might match with the question of: "Do you have dreams?". The question is on page 41, so I plug 41 into the foxy grid and I got the letter D. So instead of Evan it now says "Evad". If you flip the name it now says Dave. Dave was also the fake name that William Afton used in the Silver Eyes novel in the fourth closet novel. This would also make sense to William using his dead son's ("Dave Afton's") name, since William falled into madness after his 2 child's deaths and started to kill 5 children to get out of his pain.
So in conclusion I think the crying child's name is Dave Afton.

Now that I'm re-watching this, I started to do a bit of thinking regarding how Godzilla came up with the letter 'N' for the crying child's name. Matt asked "Why tally up the scores based on a book Foxy has" or something along those lines. If Michael is the one making the tallies, wouldn't it make sense to connect him to Foxy because it's his favorite character? He would go around scaring the crying child with a foxy mask on and we've connected that Foxy is his favorite in multiple theories. I don't think it's that far fetched- but maybe that's just me.

What if the tallies are for solving Mike's identity? They are in his red pen after all.
For now, I have it in my head that Mike is keeping track of each haunted animatronics at each location. That would explain why there's a random 4 tally mark when the majority of them are 5. The book came out after sister location where there is only 4 major haunted animatronics (Baby, Freddy, Foxy and Ballora) while the other's have had at least 5 (Foxy, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and either the puppet or Golden Freddy). It's not perfect, but it's something.

we all know that MatPat will never finish trying to figure out Fnaf, he just gonna be in the nursing home explaining the lore to his old friends, they gonna think he has schizophrenia

I wonder if the actual solution to the Foxy grid is to actually draw an 8-bit Foxy and then go from there. I don’t have any idea what you’d do with the letters in the grid after you were done with the drawing. Sure that might seem like a rather simplistic approach, but I also wouldn’t put it past Scott to put the solution right in front of our face, probably expecting that we would look in more of the obscure places for clues. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Just a random thought that occurred to me. Also, Evan being the crying child is my personal head canon now. It just sounds right to me.

I'm pretty sure the reason Cassidy asks crying child if he still remembers his name is because he's been in golden Freddy for so long he must've forgotten his name after so many years its kinda like with gollum in one of the lord of the rings movies when frodo says his name gollum says "yes... that was my name... I almost forgot my name"

This is a comment from about 2 years after this video. The fact that there has been no noticeable hint to the crying child's name since then leads me to believe that they know we've solved it and aren't giving us any hints to his name.

I feel like at this point Matpat is part of the canon

I don't think that the evidence for Crying Child's name being Evan holds up all that well, but I am sold on that being his name, more or less because... well, he needed a name, and the fandom was able to agree on Evan, and it fit him aesthetically, so, I don't know, I was sold. lol. I'm a story-teller, not a theorist, so I was more interested in how the name Evan worked from a character angle and less from an evidence angle, if that makes sense.

You know this is the magic of Five Nights of Freddy's and this is just beautiful exclamation and just craziness of this series

The name Evan being put together then spoken, sent shivers through my eyes. Not my spine. My eyes felt it.

OhMyGod Matt 14:33 the boy who is being compared to the crying child has something wrong to with their head (Evan) gets stuck in a animatronic with another boy (Andrew) who has black curly hair, do you see where I’m going with this (since we know that the vengeful spirit is not Cassidy but Andrew) could the Crying Child be trapped in golden freddy with Andrew
In the book they have similarities to the characters in the game so maybe I’m not wrong

Totally random comment and completely off topic but I feel like matpat was giving us his impersonation of pennywise and I thought it was very well performed. Also love watching the fnaf theories. 😅 just thought I'd voice my thought after watching the beginning of this video.

My guesses on the crying child’s name could either be Evan, or Christopher Afton. I have a friend named Christopher and everyone calls him CC and the two letters for Crying Child is CC.

What if E V A is actually the Crying Child's initials? First Name: E. Mid. Name: V. Last Name: Afton.
Edit: The N could be used or not used in this theory. If used, it could be seen as Evan V. Afton, and if not, it can still be E. V. Afton.

The 6 year dedication Matpat has for this franchise does two things for me.
1. Fill me with nostalgic joy
2. Worry me for his sanity

This makes me so happy that I share the same name as a character from a game that was a major pillar of my childhood

There seems to be sides of the name argument. Those who says his name is Chris (myself included), and then the side who says his name is Evan. I feel like it's going to continue for ages until it's revealed. Or just never end. Now I'm being dragged to the Evan side. It's fun.

I do have a theory at the reason the puzzles aren’t as precise is because it’ll make it harder to find the answer. Maybe Scott wanted to challenge the fan community to do something different. I don’t know and I’m sorry for didn’t explain this well.

Im starting to think the crying child's true name is Jake, not only because the boy's name in the blackbrid book's name is Jake, but also because of the Jake possessing the Stichwrath with Andrew.

Don’t know why but when I look back at this its the “let’s treat ourselves to some orange slices” that got me. Can’t beat soccer snacks.

Maybe the reason why you should only consider 4 of cassidy's questions is because only those four were related to the crying child. Only those four were answered by him. This would explain why only those four are used to depicted his name.

13:17 I knew something was wrong when I read that story, I was constantly expecting a big bad. It never came. Also I never read the epilogues, I'm saving that for when I have every book and I can tear out that last page to make it into a pamphlet/day book.
