All I can say today Mat, is thank you. Thank you for making this stunning, complex, genius, rage-inducing, wonderful, incredible game. Thank you for giving me,and many others, one of the best years ever. It was such a good distraction from the stress of my first year of secondary school (I'm a Scot) and it was always something to look forwards to. Thank you for teaching me how to use hex and base64, binary and spectrographs, source codes and text editors, not only one, but TWO alien codes, coordinates, and teaching all of us to question what we're seeing, think about what we're being shown, and told and the information we're given. Thank you for fixing the sites when we broke the internet over and over again. Thank you for a game that brought together thousands of people, that united a community. Thank you MatPat, thank you. ❤️❤️

Thank you, Theorist Team. I enjoyed doing this so much, especially this final challenge. Everything was so cleverly made, and as you said in your videos on this, it's extremely evident how much time and effort you all have put into this experience. I really enjoyed all the references, all the humor, and the gratitude sprinkled into this last gate especially. So thank you for this incredible experience.
To break down Gate 7's keys, I want to talk about what really stood out to me. Designing the whole thing like a text based adventure game, using the URLs as player moves, was simply genius. I never would have thought of doing that, and yet you made it work really well. The Drama Llama mazes were fun. I wasn't too challenging, but it did have cute and witty dialogue, and impressive designs. It was a really good warm up for the difficulty to come. I also really enjoyed the nonographs and got extremely excited when I realized what they were. I had been playing a lot of Pokemon Pixel, so I felt like I had been training for that very moment. Plus, I found it really endearing that person messages to Kynk were put into the game. I've got to say though, it took me SO long to figure out what to do with the dead end. It was really tricky to figure it out especially when I was trying every possible way it could have been interpreted. But when I did find out what I had to do, I thought it was extremely clever; instructions hidden in plain sight. I'm not entirely sure what triggered the fourth key's appearing, but I was extremely relieved when it did. The mini games took a bit of trial and error, thought, and a lot of loading, but it was still fun. I'm really bad with interpreting visual Morse code (having an extremely hard time differentiating a dash from a dot) but I got through it. The narrowing down of video-games was a long and grueling process, but felt oddly satisfying in the end. And the last challenge was so incredibly genius. Though it took me a very long time to complete (mainly because I didn't realize there were final clues at the end of every gate), I had a blast solving it. The final video at the end was bittersweet. I enjoyed the ARG so much, but now it's over. So just, thank you so so much Team Theorists for making this incredible journey.

Back when everyone was still doing this I just remember doing gate four for a good 4 hours, then finally being so excited after completing it, I felt like I had just defeated a final boss of doom in Nightmare mode.

Even though I couldn't be there to appreciate you all, I still find it incredible and just so awesome that you could make all of this possible. Thank you so much.

Hey, MatPat. I'm not sure if you do any requests from any of your subscribers or not, but I actually have something that's been bugging me that's Game related.
In the video game version of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, you're playing as the Baudelaire Orphans (they lost their parents in a housefire that "destroyed their lovely home") and you're ordered by your guardian, who claims to be a perfect actor, to make dinner for his "acting troupe". Here's the thing: the food is in the cellar surrounded by some type of toxic green liquid which, according to Klaus Baudelaire, is "Tetrachlorophenol Sodium Hydroxide". Those of you who aren't aware, tetrachlorophenol is used as a fungicide. Sodium hydroxide is a main ingredient in household products such as liquid drain cleaner... Since Count Olaf is aware that the food is in the same room as those toxic components, one can assume that he's eaten some, if not all, of it. Now, according to Klaus, he says to Violet that "You don't want to touch it." How is it possible for Olaf to order the orphans to cook with the contaminated food with the knowledge (or lack thereof) that it could slowly kill him and his acting troupe?

After taking a few days off from your video here, i finally beat it. That was actually really hard. Thanks for designing it.

It’s just so amazing that someone would take so much time and effort to make a game that breaks the boundaries between the real world and the virtual world, and have it all free for anyone to try! While i never played through the gates myself (mainly because my laptop is older than pangea), but i’ve seen what the final gate is and, while i shouldn’t spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t seen or done it yet, i found it really cool how the final gate was played out and would love to see more of these in the future. Big props to everyone who worked so hard on this awesome adventure!
But you know, all this crazy stuff going on, it makes you wonder. Is matpat really going crazy?
Well, i suppose that’s just a theory, a GAME THEORY! Thanks for reading.

(11:05) You should have gone beyond and make duplicates of the letters depending on if they represent a vowel or consonant sound. So there's a variant of Y with a dot for words like "day", and without for words like "yes"; the same for U where it has a dot for "umbrella", but lacks it for "queen". Having duplicate letters would make it a little harder. - And 1 isn't prime.

So I already knew those games would be insanely hard, so didn't even try them as I knew I didn't have the time, though did catch most of the glitchy videos and knew those were signs to scan for thing. But they looked great and I love the full walk-through of the clues and what they ended up being, and can tell this is clearly also has clues for the 7th gate all throughout it. Hope they don't solve it too quick on you though, and hope it is worth it.

The innovation and ingenuity are insane and I appreciate that. Keep up the good work!

The obvious pronunciation for Marle is clearly "marl".
1. Marle/Marl is an actual word, pronounced that way. While it could be intended as a fantasy name, it's not unlike Square games to have words like that used as names.
2. If the "e" was meant to make a longer sound then there should probably be an accent on it or something. It makes more sense that it follows the pronunciation route of a name like Charles (even if they skipped putting it in-game, we should have seen it in other material).
3. The Japanese name for her is Maaru. Bearing in mind the Japanese r/l and u sounds they use, this also suggests "marl" was the intended pronunciation.
I can't even think of a language that would normally pronounce an "arle" combination of letters as "arly" (unless there was a gap, hyphen or apostrophe in between, maybe)... I wouldn't be totally surprised if there was one, which is why I didn't make this a main point, but still...
