Today Theorists, I aim to solve another one of the many mysteries of Minecraft. We've explored a lot already, but with a game this big, there is always more to find. Take the music discs, which are the objects you find randomly throughout the game when you do certain things. Except, there are two discs in particular that peaked my interest - Disc 11 and Disc 13. The two "corrupted" discs that, when you play them, sound like something from a horror game rather than Minecraft. What is going on with Discs 11 and 13? Let's find out!

Fun fact: While 13 is the same in the game as it is in the OST, 11 is completely different. Instead of being the horror that it is in the game, it's actually a nice and relaxing track in the OST.

Now that we know the caver would have been an Ancient Builder, that's an option.

You left out two details that I picked up through the discs. When he finishes coughing, you can hear a “shh” in the background. It’s not a creeper sound, meaning that it was possibly a SECOND person telling him to be quiet. It was too late, however, and the monsters found them. Then you can only hear one person’s footsteps, meaning that one of them could have gotten killed. When the arrow supposedly “hits it’s target” it could be killing one of the two people. I know I’m late but I wanted to put this idea out there.

Do you have any herobrine storiesnthat you or a friend experienced? I was alone in a world I had for a couple of weeks, had a small house with a basement carved out and a few chests and torches for light, far from collecting diamonds. But as I hover over my chest facing the outside of my house I see a name tag pop up like it would in multiplayer, like a little grey tag with no name as I had to get closer for the name to appear. And then I saw it shrink down like the player had crouched and the nametag disappeared. And suddenly in my 0 slot of the hotbar, a enchanted diamond sword appeared. I looked at its enchants and it was a "God sword" so I had to go see if whoever was out there was still there, and he wasnt. But I saw my nearby forrest on fire and strangely the fire only burned the leaves, and then went out on its own. This was on a single player server and has never been open to lan, so Im surprised I even have a story to tell.
Lmao I never really knew what herobrine was but if they removed it it kept coming back or something.
After hearing this, disc 11 and 13 are the events that occur when the player is escaping and when they hit the water. Once they hit the water, a form of trauma from the fall causes a delayed form of amnesia that occurs while they are traveling. This results in the player “spawning” in a new area with no previous knowledge
That actually makes a lot of sense. My first thought was that the creator of the discs is a different survivor descended from the old civilisation who eventually died or disappeared, but your hypothesis also explains why the player, who is depicted as an adult, wakes up in a hostile world without any items in their possession and no prior memories. This wouldn't make sense if it were not for the events on the discs, making them lose their memories and possessions.
I'm gonna need an in-depth analysis of where the new music disc "5" that is coming in 1.19 ties into this STAT. PLEASE. Although if you want to wait until 1.19 comes out so we have a better understanding of ancient cities (and namely what the center structure is), I understand. But yay the lore continues!
As for my theory, I think that disc 5 comes before disc 11. When we hear disc 5, we notice that the character is walking inside caves towards the ancient cities and trying to open a portal, but he encounters the warden and tries to escape from him through the portal .... and here begins the story of disc 11 inside the portal

I absolutely did listen to it as a kid but instead of being scared, I was intrigued and thus here I am as a theorist. Finally glad someone solved this, thanks.
With the new-ish deep dark, the two discs may have come from that biome, giving off clues such as the warden screaming in 11 and the adventurer making too much noise, leading to his death.

my theory: there was a species before the ancient builders who made the discs. but when the ancient builders arrived, they saw how scary the disc sound was. so then they decided to smash it and that made the evolution of disc 13 into disc 11.

excited to see where the heck disc 5 goes into all this, the wild update is rly keeping with the name right now
I know I am late by a few years but in Minecraft: the island the main character is blown up by a creeper and launched into a water pool, than gets out out and hides behind a patch of dirt. I find that that little odd detail seems to parallel disc 13. I cannot remember if he was struck by an arrow or not as my books were destroyed in a flood but I think he may have been as there were multiple mobs down there. In disc 11 you can hear flint and steel lighting a fire and paper rustling, and in the island he mines a few blocks and finds coal as well as it being revealed later that what you are reading is a journal left behind by him. From what I can remember is what I have pieced together and I may have missed a lot of detailed.

I just realized something: When you kill an evoker, they don't pop the totem, but when you kill it it drops it, so maybe the reason the illagers do raids is for souls that in turn are used for totems that would give them immortality.

Also, the disc cat is the first disc added, together with 13, and you could get it only from creepers. Which are connected with cats as you know, which is a curious connection.
I am three years late on this, but the sounds of the creeper explosion plus the arrows are the classic sounds (from when the disc was released) rather than the modern sounds that were included as comparison in this video.

make a theory about the new music disc,the one that came with the caves and cliffs update.Here is some info:the disc needs nine fragments,all of which can most likely be found in the old underground castle like structures,after I heard it completely,it sounded like someone was running away from a warden,there is fire and water in the surroundings,a bat flies away most likely out of fear,the person does manage to escape the warden temporarily,then normal music kicks in before slowly dying down,bubbles are heard,the person continues to try and escape,what sounds like grindstones are heard,this makes me think that the person might be making a weapon,near the end the warden is alerted of the person's location and proceeds to attack.
I personally think he broke it himself (with a tool) so no one would have to hear the horror he found down in the caves. I'd have to listen to the full music disk myself but I highly doubt a creeper would have blown up that close to him, to a point where it blows up the disk but leaves him un-harmed.
