I remember finding a treasure map once, and when I reached the spot where the treasure was, it appeared that the water had risen. The land on the map was the same, except for the fact the ocean had swallowed a good bit of land. Which, game glitches aside, would support the rising water theory. Suggesting that while the drowned people were on a mission to get the heart of the seas, the water level was much lower at that time, than it was at the time I came across it!
Ooooo that's super cool!
they may have found it but it can be sunken and the map is giving wrong information

to me the conduit is a tool to simply live 100% underwater, as their effects counter everything that stops terrestrial creatures to have an underwater home: water breathing which is self explanatory, night vision that doesn't only makes possible seeing in the dark but also makes it much easier to see underwater in the game, and haste that counters the way that blocks break slower when the player is underwater.

Also call me cruel but I'm laughing about how I'm going to stick a nether portal in a nearby ocean monument to my base with the help of my friends and will gladly kill any guardian or drown that gets in my way.
Edit: I feel bad seeing as how what generated nearby next to some underwater ruins was a shipwreck that seemed to be either leaving from that underwater town or maybe returning for new supplies or to say that they're mission was a bust but they weren't able to make it, all I know is that there in my world Frozen in Time seems to be a ship whose crew is either just getting ready to start their journey or had let down the people of their town by not finding the heart of the sea and what makes this even sadder is that not too far from both the ship and the monument was a buried treasure chest in which I found a heart of the sea so even though I plan on desecrating the temple in a way alongside with my friends by putting a nether portal in there, I do intend to try to make up for that by not only clearing the Temple of all of its water but, putting my first conduit outside that Temple.

I think the drowns were another fate for the ancient humans.
@@idk6617 Yeah, I think the idea is that not all ancient humans were from the same societies. Some spawned the wither and ran away to the end to become endermen. Some lived as pirates and fishermen and built temples and became zombies/drowneds when the water rose. Others built desert or jungle temples, depending on where they lived; presumably those became regular zombies. Zombies and drowneds aren't different species - if you drown a zombie, it turns into a drowned. But not one that will drop a trident or a nautilus shell.
Hmm...Mat has linked zombies/drowneds, endermen, and wither skeletons to ancient civilizations. It's not a stretch to add regular skeletons, strays, and husks to the list. Creepers and guardians were directly built by those ancient people. Withers and zombie pigmen were more indirectly created by their actions. He is well on the way to the backstories of most of minecrafts major mobs.
@@pelahnar4 Is there a story ot updates for the ice biomes to connect it to the lore?
@@narkreean6490 I don't think Game Theory has cover ice biomes yet. Unless I'm forgetting something, igloos are the only structures that spawn there...they have the weird basement things that show you how to convert a zombie villager into a regular villager, so maybe they could do something with that. I've been enjoying how they tie minecraft civilations to real life civilations - the Kaaba with the underwater temples, the Egyptians with the desert temple - but I have doubts that he'd be able to link the Inuit or something to the igloos.
while I don't know if it would ever happen, or how one would go about presenting it, but I'd like to see a reconstruction of what their ancient civilization would've looked like before the flood, and what their architecture, culture, and other things were like. Could be an interesting thing to look into, especially given all of the ruins and shipwrecks you would have available to research.
What I'm starting to put together is that, as some have always suspected, Minecraft is the story of a post-apocalyptic, empty world.

MATPAT! Here's a crazy theory for ya on the origins of skeletons. Your zombie disease video makes sense, but doesn't explain the skeletons. No disease is going to keep a pile of bones floating around. You'd need magic to do that. Here's a quote from the Mobestiary, " Some have proposed that skeletons are ancient adventurers raised from death by an evil sorcerer." In the game Minecraft Dungeons there is a group of ancient necromancers who live in a desert temple. They have blue glowing eyes (the color of souls) and when they summon skeletons, you can see small blue souls float away from the summoning area. They even shoot soul fire blasts! But why are they themselves undead? Maybe because when they (or some other humans) summoned the wither, they noticed that it doesn't attack undead things, and they turned themselves undead to protect themselves. I hope you read this!

@Alastor umm
@Livana Villalobos flamincraft
PIRATES!
Gotta love that they were so stubborn as to evolve into water breathing monsters than move their civilization.
I just realized something: When you kill an evoker, they don't pop the totem, but when you kill it it drops it, so maybe the reason the illagers do raids is for souls that in turn are used for totems that would give them immortality.
like this so matpat can see
Director: How many water puns do you want?
MatPat: Y E S
Director: I sea.
How there’s no reply yet
Lol
You BOAT to be kidding me
@@ian7019 WHALE, I think not
I see all of these puns and start going craysea
So, the pirates who have dedicated their whole lives to the sea went out with huge ships and didn't make it, and then I come in with my tiny little boat and zero experience and I pull it off?
Ιωάννα Θεοδώρου Remember how boats used to break on contact with literally anything? They had those.
It’s still sad that the only way I can repair and sail their boats again is through a massive redstone machine.
i think at the time that they were sailing, the water levels were rising, things were unstable and probably violent like a maelstrom as said in the achievement we get. They weren't able to survive that.
By the time we come into the game as a player, it's been thousands of years. We already have the buried treasure maps in their ships, everything is already drowned, we have resources and can find it much easier.
Thats because you don't have to combat the rising waves
😂 fr
The waves were much rougher than, and with the panic to find it, they lost their sense. They also had to fight against rising waves, and the waters were much tougher due to more people using them. But when we play, it’s only us. No one else is sailing, they have all drowned.
Here's another theology what if the reason why regular zombies turns drowned after sometimes is because the virus of the drown is in the water itself but to us players is just harmless
You'll know what I'm talking about if you watch matpat's theory about the zombies
I’m pretty sure Notch, Jeb, and Dinnerbone are basically the gods of Minecraft’s world.
Also. I’m pretty sure this theory is a little more difficult to explain now that Drowned drop copper.
Wouldn’t it be cool, if when the drowned come into the conduits reach, they would turn back into either zombies or some kind of villager?
Or steves
Edit : ah yes a stack of likes
It would be even cooler if we can change back the endermans into human form
A STACK OF LIKES
Well try that for yourself. I'll do it too but I'm too lazy.
THATS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A MOVIE
Imagine a drowned seeing you make the conduit, swimming over by instinct to claim it for them self, only to begin to breathe again, swimming closer to the conduit as their flesh begins to heal, until they touch it for the first time. They regain their memories and drop their trident, and smile at you as thousands more rush over, the underewater society coming back to life
MatPat: "These items can easily be bought from the store."
Also MatPat: *Shows Toilet Paper*
um, that is not toilet paper
@@tico9546 look deeper
that is not toilet paper, its a roll of paper thats usually in your kitchen
@@tico9546 true, but still
It's paper towels you mongrel
I think it would be really cool if, when you brought a drowned near an activated conduit, they would turn into a fisherman villager after a little while.
i have to wonder if MOJANG is impressed by this man just studying the game extensively to make all these videos about it.
Does anyone else just ignore the fact its a theory and is just like: "He so flipping right"
idc if its wrong or not i believe it XD
Meeee!
I do that xD
I know I do I take every theory as lore found
@@CoolioStuffz You're stupid.
Anyone else want him to make a Minecraft lore book.
SnowPanda7783 total agree
ALRIGHT MATPAT LETS GET TO IT
yea
Let’s do it
me!
MatPat: “So thank you for making that the single best day of my youtube career.”
Also MatPat 2 seconds later: “SO NOW LETS TALK ABOUT PIRATES YARR”
He has a way of making things so dramatic and sad when telling these stories
