I'd also like to add something about how the franchise itself was created:
The man who created the game (i forgot his name unfortunately) spent a lot of his time at work, so he couldn't play or interact much with his son
He used animal crossing as a way for them to do something together: the kid would play the day, and the father at night

adding to it: the creator of animal crossing had to move for his job into a city several kilometers away from his family, why he also created it, to simulate the feeling of being surrounded by family and friends

Expansion on this theory: zipper has been hired by your parents to keep Easter alive for you. It’d explain why he’s genuinely so annoyed to be there, if he was your father, you’d think he’d be a little less mean to you. Plus, you would think he’d actually KNOW YOUR NAME instead of just calling you “kid” if he was actually your father. But if it’s someone paid to essentially be a birthday clown for some kid on an island, his attitude would make a LOT more sense.

Actually, i talked to Elvis during bunny day and he specifically said that he remembered all this happening when he was a boy. A lot of villagers comment that they're familiar with bunny day and all the strange eggs popping up everywhere, but it's only now that they're grown up that they started noticing how strange it is.
