I don't think it's him landing on them that kills them. Don't forget that he bounces off of the goombas he kills, if he were to jump off of them it would certainly be enough to kill them.

That was a typo by the editor most likely. If the formula was arranged correctly, the m would have been outside the radical. Just rewind to the original formula, the only thing squared in the velocity, so cancelling the mass is entirely valid.
@@JuanDi_SDK That doesn't matter, you can't root one part of the equation w/o the others, in order to keep the same proportions and get the correct result you have to root the entire equation
@@mostlyimportant4212 I get your point, but try clearing the equation by yourself. Masses are cleared BEFORE rooting stuff. Alternatively, both masses end up within the root and thus can still cancel without a problem.
Extra alternative: you root everything and you get square root of mass on both sides... can still be cleared.
I was confused at first too, but once I peaked at the original it made sense.

Well, he did beat Wart in SMB2, but yeah. All turtles and tortoises are reptiles. And I can't think of any other amphibians besides Wart that actually appear in a Mario game unless you count the seeming ability of enemies like cheep cheeps and bloopers to survive out of water in some games.

Fun fact: Losing yoshi is like losing a mushroom, except you can grab it back as long as it doesn't fall into a pit.
You're forgetting that yellow yoshis (or green with a yellow koopa shell in his mouth) will pound the ground (with visible puffs of smoke) when he hits, causing the ground to shake and enemies to flip upside down.
With those visual cues and reworking the formula, I'd expect a yellow yoshi sacrifice move to put a crater in the mushroom kingdom.
I assumed Yoshi sort of ejected Mario from him by flinging him up. Obviously we don't see this in the animation, but it may explain why Mario can't normally jump that high by himself.
looking at the slowmotion jump starting at 13:10 yoshi stops midair when mario hops off, so yea this makes sense
You suggesting he can float in mid air? The physics is still the same if he doesn't have some special flying ability when Mario jumps

Jack Winkles you can still throw something in mid air, which is what Austin was kinda showing with the pen. Try jumping on a trampoline and shooting a basketball into a hoop. It’ll get a lot higher than if you threw it from the ground because you are already in the air.

If yoshi is lighter than mario, that means his bones must be denser because he is a bigger creature than mario.
This also means that even if yoshi survived mario from powderizing his spine, his fall would still kill him because if his bones are denser than they would break easeir under the amount of g's he is falling. His broken bones would rupture his organs and he would internally bleed until death.
That is also assuming he survived the fall in general...

Okay so im confused, at 2:25 in his initial volecety he say that mass cancels out but you can cancel out both M and the square root of M, they wont equal the same thing, did i miss something, could you help me with this
Alexander bostic The equation he obtain the velocity from was by solving for v in the equation mv^2/2 = mgh. Mass cancels here, so v^2/2 = gh. Then v^2 = 2gh, and finally v = sqrt(2gh), which is exactly what he derived. Now, the visual graphic did say mv = sqrt(2ghm), but this is obviously a mistake from the rendering software. Notice that the software also rendered meters per second as ms and not m/s, which is also a mistake. We saw it in the video.
At least now it makes sense why most enemies get crushed when Mario jumps on them.
This is even worse considering they are babies since they just hatched when you go on them

At 6:17, you can't cancel out mass because one of them is square rooted. I'm pretty sure that you would either have to square one of them, or square root the other. My brother pointed this out while we were watching the video. Love your channel, keep up the work!
