Stephanie and I got the chance to interview Dr. Fauci about some of the myths and misunderstandings going around about COVID-19. @Andre Anyone Covid-19 isn't truly airborne. It requires carriers such as spit, snot, and other carriers to be transmitted. Masks are effective at blocking those carriers, which are far larger than the virus itself. You're just entirely wrong.

@@michaela.754 Before the pandemic there was a miniscule amount of research on how effective masks are in public spaces, and a combination of the belief that they wouldn't be effective, and a mask shortage when masks were needed in hospitals, justified it greatly.

@@lahyte_5925 Yes, the FDA succumbed to political pressure and lowered its standards and gave full approval to the first drug in history that hasn't completed stage 3 clinical trials. And you still can't sue the manufacturer for any potential side effects. Nothing really changed, the tests weren't finished, there's no legal liability, the FDA just rubber stamped it. That doesn't give me more faith in the vaccine, it gives me less faith in the FDA.

@Umbra Solaris The FDA has NEVER given any medicine approval that hasn't cleared stage III long term clinical trials until now, yet for some reason this doesn't concern you. I don't know why you trust big pharma so much that you're dead set on taking a vaccine that doesn't prevent transmission and that has no legal liability for a disease that you probably have a 99.98% survival rate for. What's the logic? I got my 90 year old grandmother the vaccine because her age group only has a 95% survival rate for COVID. Averting a 1 in 20 chance of death merits the risk of taking an experimental mRNA gene treatment with no legal liability, my age groups 1 in 5000 chance of death doesn't.
If iI still have to wear a mask, and still able to get covid, and advised not to travel. what's he point in getting it
If you do get it, it won't be as bad. That's the whole point of the mask and social distancing as well, you might still get it but it'll be a weaker dose (fewer of the virus enter you) so you won't get as sick before building an immunity. That said I don't fully trust this vaccine as it uses a new and relatively untested technology (lots of short term test that are mostly successful but nothing long term). The new tech (mRNA) is theoretically safer and for certain groups (those at higher risk of infection or fatality if they did get it), I would certainly recommend it.
@@grn1 I get what your saying and I understand where it’s coming from, then one could make the argument if they got exposed to covid already and take immunity health supplements, then why do then why do the need to ever get it.
@@danzellsayles2555 That is a perfectly valid point. The counter argument is that there are many different strands of the virus and the vaccine may help protect against one you haven't been exposed to but of course it's also not guaranteed to protect against a second infection. Personally I'm holding off but I do believe that those who are at higher risk (more likely to be exposed or suffer severe symptoms) should probably get the vaccine while those who are at lower risk should probably hold off a bit till more data comes through. We can never really know for sure how safe anything is until we field test it but we still need to field test it.

Yeah, at first I looked at this and thought it was kind of cringe to see KRplusrs getting involved in this sort of thing, but then I realized that it's actually a very good thing. The people who don't trust the vaccine and don't wear masks don't trust the government, but if they see a KRplusr they watch interview the person who's enforcing these things it could maybe influence them. The actual impact this'll have is probably minimal, but it's a good idea.

We are literally outside in the sunshine, socially distanced and STILL they wear them. To each their own though, but it blows my mind. Further, the cotton masks do not keep out viruses which is why I bought N-100's when the first case in WA came, at that point in time we didn't know if the videos coming out of China were propaganda or real so I thought, better safe than sorry...the rest is history.
You're taking that quote out of context. It was in the early days of the outbreak and he said in the same hearing "it’s [masks] not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences - people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.”
His intention was clearly to show that masks aren't a catch all solution to the outbreak. People can't just wear masks and go about their life as usual. He was pushing for other measures such as social distancing while we developed responses such as the vaccine.
As the outbreak spread and became more severe, masks became necessary in spite of not working as perfect protection. As such he began to encourage their use.
He never "changed his opinion" like many people seem to think. His stance on masks has always been the same.
Masks can be beneficial when used in tandem with other protocols, but themselves are not sufficient defense against an outbreak.
