@@cainthechaosdeity9815 Yeah, although I don't think the story is directly correlated with the tragedy (given that said tragedy happened in 2001 and the game was released in 1997), the series is definitely using this story as a way for us to understand how this universe works. And that's awesome.

Tbh this was my same thought, and I keep thinking I was experiencing a Mandella effect. Glad to know I'm not the only one confused on how Newmaker ties into this crazy conspiracy.
Because that stuff does still exist. It was the base story of the game that was built upon to create this full story. The creator even confirmed this.

Here's an idea for you to consume: Petscop is a game about Paul rediscovering his trauma with Marvin. Care is his in-game avatar (why Care and Paul have many similar features, but her can't remember hearing someone go missing in the family), and Daniel (Rainer) created Petscop to give to Paul to remember his trauma with an important family member.
You know, I just rewatched this series again, and I do hope that you will finish this series. I know it's been three years and every day passing seems more and more unlikely. This is honestly one of my favorite lore videos. I got into the Petscop series because of you so I hope one day this series will have closure. Thanks for making the ones that are currently out.

I watched his live q&A about why he didn't finish this, and parts are reasonable, but all in all it feels like a lame, flat excuse that doesn't really add up or make sense.
1. There didn't seem to be a ton of demand.
- this series pulls 5 million views a video.
2. His wife emphasizes that it's not digestible to a new audience
- based on the first 6 videos having 5 million views a piece, either the new audience managed to pick it up, or the petscop zeitgeist is phenomenal enough to carry itself on the legs of its own audience.
3. It's such a deep and convoluted mess that it was not only confusing to him (which wouldn't be a problem - being confused is often his job) but it was extremely difficult to even discuss Petscop with his team because of said deepness.
- that's actually reasonable, I can understand that.
It still comes across as "well, it was really hard..."
Which just gives me an itch of "come on MatPat. You can do this."
