So based on genetics and in-game lore, it seems like Rosalina's parents MAY be Peach and Mario. But Rosalina's mother is dead, and Peach doesn't seem to be. Not to mention Rosalina and Peach look to be the exact same age. So what's the deal? Are they actually related? The answer is YES. Super Mario Galaxy explains how...even if it is a little difficult to decipher.

Theory: The reason why that text wasn't in the English version was because Nintendo knew MatPat was going to make a theory about this, and they tried to avoid it and just add it in the French version so he wouldn't find it. Except it didn't work

Alternative theory: Princess peach actually had a twin sister who fell in love with Luigi and had Rosalina. It would explain why her mother looks like peach but wears different clothing, why she would have lived in the castle, why Mario's the one constantly saving Peach and not Luigi (and why there isn't any weird issues between the two there) and could potentially explain why Luigi ends up with a HAUNTED mansion
I think Peach wearing blue in the future would be a sign of maturity and regality

The fact that Luigi is Rosalina's father could couple well with the fact that Mario is a sociopath.
Peach starts dating Mario. At first they're happy, but then Peach starts seeing Mario as he truly is: a controlling sociopath. Peach starts seeking an escape and eventually find comfort in the arms of Mario's kinder brother, Luigi. Peach decides to leave Mario for Luigi, but Mario, with his mind and ego wired the way it is, can't handle the rejection. He views his brother as a monster who "kidnapped" his love and thinks that it's his duty to "rescue" her. In his mind he always finds that "his princess is in another castle". In reality, he is a crazy stalker and Peach and Luigi are just having to constantly move to get away from him.

The game then shows Peach stood on her own as Rosalina says "It is the desire to be reunited with someone who is important to you, that pull is what brought us together. We have come through so much to meet again. This is not some mere whim of the stars, I am sure of that" Now take that into the context she is talking about Peach being her mother from another time.

Day Two, so many classics rewatching after all these years, I still highly enjoy a lot of the ones I watched today, some outdated, some too accurate to today, might rerewatch a few from this batch, can't wait for Day Three for the start of the FNAF era. Personal favorites were definitely the Companion Cube, Rosalina Two Parter, and the Majora Mask's Two Parter. I know not a lot would read or care but this is more for me, it makes me happy.

Something that just came to mind watching this: When you do the final Bowser level as Luigi, compare how Rosalina says "Go Luigi!" compared to "Go Mario!" The difference in enthusiasm definitely is another subtle support of the theory that Luigi is her dad.
On a happier note, as tragic as Rosalina's story is, the end of Super Mario Galaxy 2 when you beat Bowser for the last time is so satisfying since not only does she get reunited with her Luma...SHE GETS TO SEE HER MOM AFTER MARIO RESCUED HER!!!

Why do some think Luigi is the father?
Well, Luigi and Peach could have gotten together in another timeline and had Rosalina. I personally think that that makes sense, because well, MatPat himself said that there were multiple timelines, so there could and possibly are alternate timelines. Ones where PeachxLuigi are a, Mario and Daisy, and all the others. The thought of multiple timelines with different outcomes combined with the thought of alternate realities, gender-benders, and everything else just ties together for me. If it doesn't for you, then that's fine. It's just what I think.

Since Luigi is often described as clumsy and the such, it would make sense he’d ask his more capable brother to save his lover/love interest for him hence why it’s always Mario who’s often the main character in the games (though you can switch to Luigi)

Here's a thought. What if the reality Rosalina was originally from didn't have the Mario BROTHERS (emphasis on brothers) but still had Mario and Luigi, and that the woman that became Rosalina's mother wasn't Peach, but Daisy.
Daisy has blue eyes, attached ear lobes and can use both hands. "But what about the hair?!" You ask, blond is a recessive gene so the possibility for them to have blond haired children is there.
"But in the book, her mother was visualized to have belong hair!" Actually the picture uses shades of brown, not yellow.
"The book has Rosalina's mother in a blue dress." Well that was ignored in both videos so fashion isn't really a factor here, or at least a factor big enough to count.
So maybe Miyamoto didn't said to keep the reference that Rosalina and Peach being related because they actually are not.
Maybe Rosalina is related to Daisy.
And understanding genetic science started using peas, and then other plants, like flowers.

Yes if blonde hair is a recessive gene, then they COULD still have it and jsut not show it, but that's assuming they have that recessive gene at all. And even then, both of them need to have that recessive gene and even THEN it's a 25% chance at best the kid get's both the recessive genes from both the parents and gets blond hair.

If this is the case, then maybe Mario killed peach in the other timeline. He didn't like the relationship between Luigi and peach, and when he found out about their daughter, that was the last straw. So he teamed up with Bowser, and together they killed peach. I mean, it works if Mario is as evil as you've theorized him to be so far.

However, Peach's death left such an impact on Luigi that he remembered and decided not to be with her right away and to let Peach come to him on his own, and in the meantime, he'd come up with a safe way to tell Mario from the beginning so he wouldn't kill her. This probably involves something like the planned kidnapping mentioned in one of The Game Theorists other videos, except this time it's Luigi, Daisy, and Tangata getting together because Daisy had been crushing on Mario from afar, much like Mario with Peach. As Mario goes through rescuing Daisy, he realizes how much finding her means and eventually starts to fall for her, etc. until he chooses her over Peach and Peach and Luigi can finally be together in peace.

well Luigi being her father is possible as you saw it changes the universe the lumans meaning the 2000 years of universes before they could of been together but one of these universes reset made it so that Mario and Peach are

I actually have my own theory based off this now. Rosalina is from a different timeline, maybe in that timeline Peach and Luigi are together and a reset changed it to Peach and Mario

Faffacake Jaffacake not exactly... It is more like in a previous life Luigi was Peach's husband, they had a daughter and then died. Now they are born again as Peach and Luigi, but in this life Peach goes with Mario and Luigi goes with Daisy.
