When Grohl gets on the drums, you know shit just got serious
Exactly what I thought
He plays the drums so fucking loud! I love that
Tottaly!
Put Dave anywhere an shit goes down 😮
The best since Bonzo imo
Taylor had a lot of stones to get up and sing Robert Plant’s song in front of him. He did it his own way, gave it his all, and it sounded incredible. May he RIP.
❤️
I will miss taylor
11¹+
All apologize to Led Zep guys for having to sit through these atrocious covers.
@@allandnothing5987 they weren’t even bad
Rest in peace, Taylor Hawkins, I didn't knew he has such an amazing and unique voice...
Terrible voice
I am so glad he got the chance to do this. What an honor.
Neither did I. He did real good, rocked it and got top props from Zeppelin. May he RIP.
I actually have wondered if this is partly why he died. He said he always had major nerves when Grohl asked him to sing. So he would do drugs to try and calm down. And he was clearly tired of that lifestyle feeding his drug use so he wanted to quit. But Grohl asked him for that last tour and to sing some, so he did drugs again and it finally killed him.
The BALLS on them to put Taylor on vocals. Holy shit Foo's!
They did the same thing at wembley playing with Led Zeppelin
I didn't even know he was able to sing
@@meloderieugif2294 He's been singing in his side project bands for years.
he rocked and rolled that shit
@@bxshaped27_79 he sure did
Doing a guitar solo in front of Jimmy Page requires to have big balls
Not just any solo, but one of his own aswell!
Chris Shiflet pulled it off though. Page is the master!
totally! Chris Shiflet is so underrated
Jose I. Ochoa he is a shredding beast!
i was thinking the same hahaha
You know the thing I love most about Dave Grohl - every single time he performs he's giving it everything he's got. He plays every gig like it's the last gig of his life. Never half asses anything. You may like or dislike his music, but you can't deny the energy and dedication. It's contagious.
Cause he’s a true musician who does it for the love of playing. Very few people today have his level of energy, or love for the craft and genre of rock
Fu$% yeah, dude! 100%
Totally agree! I don’t think I’ll fall asleep until about 2:00 am after seeing this! Unbelievable…
Except he formed a sucky band like Foo Fighters..geez
@@allandnothing5987 u have terrible taste in music if u think foo fighters are anywhere near terrible
Taylor must have been on top of the world. RIP
damn.. Feel so so sorry for Dave Grohl..
he lost 2 best friends and his mum..
5:16 Mr Obama protects his wife from the Lenny Kravitz's sexual energy
Hahaha lol
LOL
😂😂😂
Yet another fine example that yes, a dude wearing guyliner can definitely steal your girl!
LOL 😂😂
foo fighters are a big phenomenon: they have drummers that can sing
check out the eagles
Totally agree
And singers that can play drums!!!
Don Henley
try to hear genesis dude.
Playing Led Zeppelin in front of Led Zeppelin.. No pressure... lol
talk about nerve racking!! hahaha. they all did a great job that night in my books.
totally true!
They know they can't out do what Led Zeppelin did but their up their showing their respect
5:33 Robert Plant is grading you. No pressure.
As a huge fan of them, I’d be too scared to even say hello to them, let alone play their music. I’m no John Bonham, and I never will be.
Legends paying tribute to legends. RIP Taylor Hawkins!
-Max
As a musician, I can't even imagine the courage it would take to perform any of their songs to them. Led Zep is the foundation of sooooooo much of our modern music... and it never existed until they created it.
^This.^ I completely agree!
BEST BAND EVER...such creativity diversity every song different, their acoustic stuff was sensational, too. Plant + Page, what a duo...what a team...and they were such a joy to watch on stage, no gimmicks...just kick ass musicians playing their hearts out, all of them, speaking to each other thru their music...page dancing all over....guitar slung down low...what an ICON. magical.
Everyone was great, but Heart...that was a masterpiece! Hands down one of the best renditions of Stairway to Heaven. Wow!
Not one of the best...It's THE rendition of Stairway to Heaven.
Amazing 👏
Heart was amazing there and best overall, I wish they had done battle of evermore however, that song done by them is truly epic.
Hearts version is the only one outside of zeppelin themselves I'd ever listen to more than once. They killed it.
The Wilsons are such badasses
Kravitz is the most underrated rocker of the last 30 years
Thats the most underrated comment in youtube of the last 15 years. Lenny is king
Because he’s black. Racist ass rock fans.
@@nananoodle5020 Come on, I don't think that's true. People love Jimi Hendrix..
Because jimmi is dead and gone and has been immortalized with the young death
@@corir1045 Even when Jimi was alive, he was the top paid performing act in 68,69, and his audience was mostly white then and even now.
The perfect band is: Dave Grohl on Vocals, Dave Grohl on Guitar, Dave Grohl on Drums and Dave Grohl on Bass.
Aka; the first Album.
Check out Play by Dave Grohl
Kenny Aranoff on drums, the rest all Dave Grohl
The first album 😂😂
You are my spirit animal
Imagine that feeling, belting out led zeppelin and then getting a standing ovation from led zeppelin, brilliant stuff
Kravitz was the best. I can’t believe I just typed that. He captured the spirit of the song the best. Dave is a great drummer!
NIrvana Drummer. sounds familiar?
heart was the best.. stairway to heaven
Amen, brother. I love Lenny anyway and that performance was off the chain. Apparently, the stand ovation the three wise men gave him says they agree too!
I agree ...
@@erikreyes7461 I agree! I have seen the video THOUSANDS TIMES!!!
Damn! Dave still kicks ass on those drums!!!
I think he's the best there is. RIP Bonham, Moon.
I never knew Taylor could sing ....
Thought it was funny that Dave put Taylor out front to sing so he could play drums for this, had to be some kind of childhood dream for him.
Dave Grohl, and Kenny Aronoff and Jason!!
Dave is born to be a drummer
Beyond brilliant, Kravitz is energy personified.
Lenny Kravitz is the rock god of the night on that stage. That man's groove will make your ears bleed gravy. Craig Ross on guitar SLAYED that riff!!
If your ears bleed gravy, you should reduce your consumption of roast beef and consult a physician immediately.
@@deusexaethera I have, and the plasma/gravy content of my blood has reached a Rock &Roll God Like level of awesomeness!(I credit Dan Aykroyd with ''ears bleed gravy.'' He was a Blues Brother after all!!)
Ross was unbelievable.
Len is the bomb.Trust me when I say Taylor was killed. Chris Cornell also
They had knew things
They, like others, we’re going to blow

Jimmy and John bobbin' their heads might be the greatest thing I've ever seen. Keep on ramblin' on
very decent and formal headbanging
perfect song for Kid Rock imo. He killed it. They all did actually..
He was brilliant!
Great, but the original...so much better: better tempo, sound volume, and volume if instrumentation.
Love it how Jimmy just honestly enjoys the show and when Kravitz came even Robert had a smile on his face... Legends singing for legends!
Lenny is already a living Legend!
"And when Kravitz came even Robert had a smile on his face" lol I know what you meant but still my immature brain giggled!
I think Plant was deep in thought throughout the whole concert, analyzing ever. single.note...
Dave is not singing... Dave is not playing guitar... Dave just plays drums... this guy is awesome!!!
Drums are the most important part of this song!
jajajjaja
He looks like a Foo Fighter Singer and Nirvana drummer, right?
boy, you know when the foo fighters heard they were ganna do this, grohl straight jumped to the drum kit to play Bonhams legendary stuff
B Bennett He’s so garbage that he’s in a successful band that has done several world tours lol.
Taylor was so handsome and unbelievably cool here it makes me cry! But then I thank life for showing his light and gave us his talent forever. Fly high, hawk 🖤
The smiles from Zeppelin are epic! The best rock band responds!! Kravitz, Kid, Heart pay a tribute like none other!
Omg!! Lenny Kravitz killed it!! That was dope!
He sure did he's the best👑👑
Lenny rocked it.
And don't forget his guitarist sideman Tahiti Bob
@@pamwilliams9458 kravitz sings plant superbly and thats no mean feat.
Yeah! I absolutely loved it!
Dave Grohl on drums is just a complete and utter joy to watch. He's a show in and of himself.
Ok, I don’t know what pile of rocks I’ve been under, but this entire performance, audience + venue and clearly the guests of honor…alive. Have to give it to Kid Rock + Lenny always turns it on. What a gift to find Taylor leading. Amazing 🖤
Only one I didn't care for was Kid Rock. He was doing spoken word or some shit. He blows. But Dave Grohl and Lenny Kravitz are beasts!!!!
Everyone: wearing suits
Dave: idgaf
Kravitz did pretty well with those vocals I feel like, that's definitely a tough song to sing...
Especially when Robert Plant is watching you
Dope Boy that's why he wore the sunglasses 😂
Pretty well? He fucking owned it! Haha
Lenny is a classy musician, so much respect for him.
and obama
but plant is probably more important
I liked Lenny Kravitz the best!
Wife: Who knew Dave Grohl could play the drums??
Me: Everybody in the world...serving divorce papers today. Who knew...pffft.
LAA1979 agree 500% that's instant grounds for divorce right there. She gets nothing.
Hilarious!
LAA1979 gyfkg
Rofl!!! Hilarious!!!
Atleast she knows dave grohl..respect it man :P
When Dave told Taylor you have the voice for this and I'll just try to give you justice on the drums! RIP Great Sir!!!
Lenny Kravitz KILLED IT!! Best perfomer on the night.
Absolutely right!! He is amazing
That can be said or respectively written and it just bowled me over how Lenny and the band brought "Whole lotta love" across! Simply brilliant!!!
You have to watch Hearts performance of stairway to heaven and you will change your mind
@@QueenBee-xd1xk they were very good but Lenny was AMAZING

Dee rock gods
Damn!
Dee Same thing jumped out at me...They were digging Kid's cover
once band mates, always band mates
The lenny Kravitz performance was bad ass ....loved it.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Who was the guitarist that played with Lenny? He looks like Joe Perry from Aerosmith, but I'm not sure.
@@jacquelinemartinez9021 Probably Craig Ross, he's been Lenny's guitarist ever since he made it big
Lenny’s voice-electric! The drummer is kick ass incredible!!!
I spotted Bonnie Raitt and Tracy Chapman during Lenny’s performance and I was overjoyed. It’s lovely to see legends appreciating legends. And as soon as Lenny came out and I saw which song he was going to do there was no doubt he was going to knock it out of the park. And he did.
Herbie Hancock was as well
watching the great YO-YO Ma rocking out to stairway to heaven, pretty awesome too.
And David Letterman was
sitting right next to the
Led Zeppelin members.
Playing Led Zeppelin in front of Led Zeppelin: a privilege.
Led Zeppelin approving you clapping hands: PRICELESS!
Obama looks like "man I REALLY wish I had a big fat blunt so I could enjoy this the way I did back in college."
What an honor to have people play your songs for you because you’re a legend.
Craig Ross and Lenny killed it.most rock n roll performance of the night.
There is a perfect moment while Jimmy and John are moving their heads, it's just perfect.
As a huge Nirvana fan... Man, it was GREAT to see Dave behind those drums killing it!!!!
God this kid rock version needs to be recorded!!!
Sweet Miss The 60’s 70’s
I've said it before and I'll say it again: DAVE GROHL BELONGS ON DRUMS, DAMMIT!
Dave kills it on this tribute, but everybody knows Taylor is much better than Dave on the skins. Besides, dude belongs out in front.
globalgourmand Let's Just say,. He is One Talented MF?!!
edkerry87 Nah Dave Ghrol belongs on the drums, that's why when covering the band with arguably the best drummer in history he was on the drums and Taylor wasn't
Davei is nasty but you can't be a front man behind a drum kit
@@grovermarchand3282 Don Henley may disagree with that. (I do share your opinion though LOL)
Dave Grohl is at his best on the drums, I freakin love it! He's like Animal from The Muppets lmao
Abby Normal ....I hope you know what you just said
He battled him. Seriously, check it on YT
Animal = Keith Moon
YES! I was just gonna type that...seriously
IM CRYING THIS COMMENT HAS ENDED THE INTERNET WE CAN ALL GO HOME 😭😭❤️❤️❤️
God, I love rock and roll. So much talent, paying homage to some of the best music ever created. A privilege for everyone on that stage to play it, and for everyone in the audience to be there to see it.
Kid Rock nailed it and Lenny Kravitz! 🎉🎉
Hello Linda
How are you doing?
It's nice meeting you here!
That cover of Whole Lotta Love is insanely good.
Dave back on drums...YAASS!! One of the best drummers of Gen X!
Larissa Martin Ralph he’s always been a drummer lol! This is the foo fighters, they just switched spots. It’s not like Dave ever quit. He played with queens of the Stone Age
You know he played in Nirvana and QOTSA right
Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite #1 band. And that is forever ❤. ~ April Lipke
Led Zeppelin wrote most all these songs when they were in their early to mid 20s which is just incredible.
Every single person sitting there truly enjoyed the music presented because it reminds them of how life was back then, simply amazing.
Lenny Kravitz killed it!
Why is Lenny always the coolest guy in the room
RIP Taylor! The Foo Fighter are so under appreciated musically!
Lenny Kravitz. Nobody else even came close. You want the Foo Fighters?! Come with your best drummer and, more importantly, your best singer!
I'm not a huge Lenny Kravitz fan but the dude is a fucking undeniable rock star
Pity that nobody could capture the spirit of Led Zeppelin
except Heart
Listening to these just makes me realise how good Zeppelin were.
yeah, just 4 just barely 20 years young guys....making that sound, energy. An entire orchestra, band, backup, singers and choir to replicate their power.
Immediately recognized drummer Kenny Arnoff...he is awesome!
He's an unknown gem amongst the "non-drummers" - Drummers all know Kenny is great.
I have to keep coming back to these Kennedy center honors so I can cry and remember my teen year love affair with my Zeppelin. I'm so lucky to have seen them 3 times in the seventies and there's not too many of us left who can say this. Now, I cry from the shear joy of them. I remember when they were young, in their twenties and now, I feel like this cannot possibly be them now. Where is my Bonzo??? I shook your hand once John, do you remember that?? I do. I'm the luckiest girl on the planet, in love still with the best band EVER!!!! Thank you.
was an epic musical time to be young!
culturally....meh.
Lenny kravitz killed it love his version xxx
R.I.P Taylor Hawkins gone but will never ever be forgotten.. 🙏🏻
I’d be shitting bricks if I had to cover a Led Zeppelin song in of front Led Zeppelin. 😭😭😭
It's so awesome (and maybe unfair?) that Foo owns two of the best drummers in the world...
Mate it’s not tucking unfair it’s downright fucking awsome
False. Sorry there are way better drummers out there.
@B Bennett Not true. He's actually a really creative and a genius with the guitar, even though he aint that technically skilled. And has a great voice too.
It's totally fair
Neil Peart
Heart was amazing as always. Lenny Kravitz was fire!! Wow..just wow. 💗💗💗🤟🤟🤟
What an absolute privilege it would have been to be in that audience. ❤️❤️
I would've collapsed to sheer pressure standing in front of these Gods.
Taylor was awesome !! This was prob one of the best Kennedy Center Honors all performances were so great!
Love that drum on Ramble On.
Taylor Hawkins was and always will be one of the coolest cats ever! I'm so happy he existed! 💜
Damn, gotta love the foo fighters putting their frontman on drums and their drummer on vocals. Kid rock seriously what are you guys smoking inviting him. Kravitz and his guitarist were awesome in this.
Honestly, Lenny Kravitz did the best, he has the best voice for this
a cover of LZ is not only voice at all.... you also have a top 3 all time guitarist, drummer and bassist like Page, Bonham, Jones.. and for that I think the FF performance was the closest thing to honor them
@@joseochoa4152 Plus song choice is everything! Lenny had the song that was also used for "Top of the Pops" back in the day...The mass's will always relate to familiarity rather than talent! Lenny was amazing dont get me wrong but damn the foo's win my vote because they can switch from drums to vocals and vice versa! Either way the show was awesome!
Kenny Aronoff so on point 🔥
Lenny kravitz was awesome 👍🏻
Hey Lenny, which necklace are you gonna wear?
Lenny: YES

Dave Grohl and his bandmate are incredible musicians. I think a lot of people forget he played drums in Nirvana before he became the frontman for the Foo Fighters.

And Dave also was very-very cool on drums.
Best tribute ever. Such performances!
This is a perfect song for Lennie Kravitz to sing.
Kenny Aronoff crushing it on drums like a boss!! All those legends in the audience know that guy.
