When you want your tribute done right, you call Sting. Such a powerful rendition, and a beautiful performance for the Boss.
Call Sting❤
Thoughtful Seating for Dignitaries also makes the Flow Go Right ❤❤❤❤❤
If you are worthy Sting will come.
Sting never got repayed when he was honoured 😅
@@2manojpant He did - by the Boss himself. look it up
What makes America great? THIS. This is MY America. My America.
✊🏼
Absolutely
That moment when the President of United States gives you a standing ovation. Well done Sting, my deepest bow Mr. Springsteen. There's no one like Bruce❤️
No one.💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
no one
Right on!
No one!!! Love from Switzerland! ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇭
Anyone else watch this video over 100 time!!!???
Sting did an outstanding job so much respect the both have for each other shows you can feel the love in that room
Can’t stop looking and at a true president the grace respect and love the Obamas have for the world is one of a kind
He will always be 1 one of the greatest presidents ever I believe he did what was best for the majority for all people not just a select few
The grace and calm of the obamas is true leader ship
Thank you Sting for an amazing tribute to the Boss
Bruce and Sting will always be my idols
Agree wholeheartedly. The only President and First Lady in my 77 years I would have voted for a third time.
The world was beautiful back then....who's cutting the onion everytime I watch this for millionth time
Sting's performance was beautiful, but the world itself was tormented by a horrible financial crisis that destroyed a lot of families and their homes.
Bruce Springsteen has such a humble facial expression..
Lol. Ego filled drunk that became another liberal, political pawn. Unreal talent but caught up in the Hollywood millionaire class that lectures middle America on how to live, act and vote. F off “boss”. Go buy your daughter any pony to store at your gated estate. Builds a wall at his house then preaches for no border for our country
@@tblightningbolt8902 you are a sad guy
Resting humble face!😂
A beautiful masterpiece about the very worst day. Only Bruce could create an album arc that drives deep the pain, the horror, that unequalled test of us all to watch and witness. And, in doing that, he found the rebirth that often accompanies such loss. Sting did great, here.
Springsteen's face when the curtain went up and the choir started... classic.
this video really cheers me up, absolutely when Michelle Obama nudged Springsteen to indication her husband was going to lead a standing ovation -- goosebumps.
Every Bruce song has a choir. Sometimes it's just in your head. Often.
It was the same choir that sang behind him at the Inauguration in January
Ever humble, ever Bruce.
Bruce Springsteen was a large part of my youth, growing up in NJ. This cover is wonderful. I cried for my youth, my memories, I’m so glad I watched this. Great job Sting.
Your words touch my heart
Uncontrollable 😢
Springsteen has a monologue in his live box that's like that. Not getting along with dad, fights over haircuts and a draft notice.Im usually in tears.
its probably the greatest honor you can get as an artist, to have your work sing back by a legend, who performs his ass of and knows he and the audience owe a standing ovation to the boss
To be honest i read this a couple times but I’m not sure what you’re trying to communicate here. I’m a pretty smart guy so it baffles me that 168 people apparently understood this somewhat nonsensical comment, yet here I am scratching my head?!
@@Hrdfrmhvns333 xD I guess I might have written it poorly. What I'm saying is, Sting does an amazing performance but Bruce receives standing ovation for it. That was the bottom line I guess. And also how good it must feel for Bruce for someone to sing his own song back to him in such manner as Sting can.
@@seanachiescourt6659 oh i gotcha! Makes sense! I agree! Must be a powerful moment for both Bruce and Sting, as well as all in the room
Man, Sting absolutely ripped the roof off that place.
Sting hits it out of the park with this one. So do the band, and the brilliant gospel choir. The atmosphere is magical.
Didn't say "almost"... Magical it was... X
Could not have said it better. I could listen to this song over and over. Amazing job
I'm loving Mel Brooks.
This was certainly special
@jane rae got me through Covid 19!!!
All through the recent past I come back to this event to remember when people were civilized and united in good will and comity. Makes me cry.
So true
@@haccou if you havent listened then try Obahma and Springsteens podcast , Renegades .. incredible and uplifting
@@nicholasbarrell4885 sending out to my friends as we communicate today!!!!!
Well said.
I hope your'e putting a great deal of blame on the POTUS in this videos voters and media partners. They took us down the road we are on today
This is what American is missing and really needs right now and that is a Soul and a Leader with a True Heart.
Me fascina la manera de cantar y es guapo estoi encantada tenerlo en mi móvil. Bravo
100%!
Amen to that
Joe, Vote Blue
I miss him. But at least he is still with us.
So nice to see the President and first lady enjoying American music.
Obama hates America ,,, I can't get with him.
i was on the verge of tears throughout, and then I saw Philip Seymour Hoffman clapping along and i LOST it!
omg same
Yes, that made me tear up. Great performance by Sting.
You can tell Bruce is having one of those "truly happy" moments right here
I love rock'roll, I've never seen a better performance in my life.
Man the subject, the inclination , the brilliant musicians, the delivery.
I'm British, God bless America.
Watch Bruce Springsteen staying alive
Thank you Bruce, for always standing with the working man even when it wasn’t fashionable. We love you!
When the Boss and President are on their feet you know you did well
Bruce looks like he just wants to get up there on stage and join in .BRILLIANT
Magnificent
Bruce is so humble my lord love him. Sting is a rock god
Sting knows that and god love him has worked so hard to try to be the best version of himself. Personally dont believe in rock godz of any kind but this tribute helped me,
Wow, that last note!! Felt that. Amazing tribute to the Boss.
Great song and superbly performed by sting.
I actually prefer this sung by sting than bruce but i think stings voice is a teue blessing for the world...the meaning of legendary! Thanks!
Three things get me about this performance, Stings enthusiasm for it and how he conveys the message, the humbleness of Bruce Springsteen who when being honoured accepts it like the men he portrays in his music and lastly the class of Barack and Michelle Obama, could anyone see Trump in an situation like this not making it about himself, in any situation for that matter. Just a great video to watch.
yes
only just noticed is that shane fontayne on guitar ?
I watch this over & over and think to myself 'that was then-----this is now------what happened to us???'
@John Pouw Well I have seen President Trump during the September 11th remembrance service last year and both he and Melania were very classy, graceful and respectful. Besides thanking First Responders for their *heroic* actions, Trump ended up praising Americans in general who rose up to the occasion, donated blood, food and clothes and went searching for the missing etc. Not to forget thanking and Blessing our troops for their actions against Terrorism since. So you *know* it is not all black-and-white.
you're right: Michelle and Barack have the best class ever and like good music;
Sting is such an underrated musician. Great song writing, great vocals, and will always perform his best. I wish the modern age could see that.
This version of the song is spectacular. Sting did a great job and adding in the choir was amazing.
Goosebumps wish those times were here now.
Sting, one of the best live artists I have ever seen.

Bruce is the best!! Love from Switzerland! ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇭

Wow! This is real music and they are real musicians. Singers who are able to sing a song in front of the person who has written it, doing an incredible version.
Sting killed it , what an outstanding performance ❤️
What a tremendous cover. Great job Sting. Very special night to honor one of the greatest songwriters, performers on this planet earth. Thank you Mr Bruce Springsteen.
That ain't no cover he wrote that song
@@philipg1721 what? no he didn't
No, Bruce Springsteen did, of course!
Sting did a wonderful job! But what I loved the most is when Bruce put his hand be hide so he could hold Patti’s hand. They’re truly soulmates!
Felt like he managed to pack an entire concert into that one song. An uplifting and unifying performance in my opinion. Have a great day dear reader.
@Venkata Putta 🙂
He wrote this in response to 9/11.
@@KoreyAusTex I know but thanks anyway 🙂🙏
@@KoreyAusTex he had already written prior, but released it in response to 9/11
I never get tired of watching this....🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sting and Bruce have been friends for a long time and it’s great to see that in this performance!
His history as a musician encompassed so many different areas from let's kill Stewart Copeland through jazz though Elizabethan music .... of course I respect both musicians!!!!! If I'm not wrong I think Barack Obama and Springsteen have a book coming out Renegades which is not out in my library yet based on a podcast together. The way he humoured Seinfeld no apologies for not appreciating comedy ... about nothing ... Netflix comedians in cars with coffee etc. was hilarious. "You realize there are men with guns out there protecting me just in case you go slightly too far" I am paraphrasing big time will rent again to check it out, cheered me up. best wishes!!
The performances at these events are all so powerful. The audience and artists are sometimes brought to tears, emotions run high with so many talented musicians giving their best!
The WHOLE audience joins. It's community it's humanity. It's the America we need.
😊😊I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only on that loves the song but when last did you play it.
My favorite Bluce Springsteen song.
Under 3 minutes you enchanted the whole place! Darling, CONGRATULATIONS!
goosebumps at 2021? Absolutely yes.
Patti is truly Bruce’s rock. When he started to get emotional during Sting’s performance he reached behind and took her hand. I’m smart enough to know that no relationship is perfect but Patti and Bruce make a great couple.
Ich sehe es auch so und gönne den beiden ihr Glück von❤ Herzen. Grüße aus Deutschland.👍🌼😊
What's the timestamp for this? I missed it 😕
Man, imagine living in a country where there was positivity, and community, and hope and truth and decency and inclusivity from leadership
I keep watching this since it happened. Besides Aretha tearing up that piano and bringing President Obama to tears, this is the 2nd best performance in Kennedy Center history. Simply amazing and why we need to respect real musicians!!
It's 85 degrees. Humidity out of control. No air conditioning. I am listening to Sting sing this powerful song and I have goosebumps.
Brings me to tears.
Peace ✌️ 2023
Der Präsident steht auf. Alle stehen auf. Warum zweifelt überhaupt jemannd an diesem Song. 😢 Ach ja Sting singt ihn
The very first time I am seeing this broadcast. And it looks to me like Bruce Springsteen's eyes actually "melt" with appreciation for the magnificent performance of his tune that Sting brings forth. Just don't even get better.
As President Obama said: I may be The President, but he’s THE BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get chills everytime i play this
Knowing that this song was written for 9/11 tribute and being sung in gospel way by no less than Sting is such a milestone. Feels like i have been saved
My man Sting brought down the house!!!
One legend singing for another legend 🤩🤩 Bruce is hot as ever … those Italian genes did good on him …
Grandissimo Sting ... Bruce emozionato
Sting crushed this. Bravo.
Received in Gratitude ❤🎸
Priceless
Laa laa laa laa laa every word is beautiful excellent video brother thank you for this video
Nailed it. 👌👌👌👌👌
The best cover ever.
Damn, this gets me every time that I see it. What probably gets to me the most is Bruce's mom, and the emotions that she's feeling and can't hold back.
Patti Scalfia(Bruce's wife) is probably saying,"I told you we should have used a choir."
Bruce is like,"Yeah! Youre right."
Bruce appears pleased with the performance. this is what happens when Masters come to play.
Sweet Jesus let the light pour all over the earth. Keep strong, stay faithful, stay blessed and show the world how much care. Love and light, and beyond! Oh Sting you smashed it into being!
Said by angelic provocation! Keep on sister!Blessings to you& familY!
Nice to see Barrak and Michael.
What a Great performance and to honor this kid from Asbury Park New Jersey who followed his Dreams and became the Boss !!!! Very touching.
Sting also from very humble background, the Boss & Sting are two peas in the same pod to me!
Emm , I think that Sting actually is English and comes from Newcastle on Tyne.
@@mikerobertson2158 If you're replying to Kent Beery, which I think you are, he was talking about Bruce Springsteen not Sting!

That was awesome anyone see Phillip Seymour Hoffman in audience. Everything was perfect about that performance.
All I can say is "GREAT"
Sit back, relax, and revel in it, boss! You earned this and then some.
Sting and Bruce got the President on his feet. Awesome
Man, 2 off the greatest artists of the last decades.Shivers......
God, don't you miss 2009? How did we get here? May 2020?
How could anyone not be moved? Spectacular performance and a tremendous tribute to a most deserving Boss.
Springsteen deserves all honours for his work as an artist, yet, if you can have Sting, for a tribute to your music, wow! - that is truely great! Fantastic piece this! Praise for the choir also!
Love this. Sting knocked it out of the park....well done.
brilliant version
That Bass of Stings has seen some powerful moments...and this was one of them! Cheers Everyone
WOW! Just WOW!
Never gets old
This is the great magic when a superstar performes a song of another superstar!
I get a knot in my throat every time I watch this Amazing performance. So beautifully done and perfect. Sting is Amazing and Bruce is the boss.
Tears running down my face. Every time, every single time I watch this.
I'm feeling you brother. Same as that dear lady at 3:07
Has anyone ever noticed the woman sitting behind Bruce and Mel Brooks at the end? She just burst into tears. That's what a great song can do.
❤oh my this is good 🎉
Thank you, Sting!
Wow. Wow. Thank you Sting. Thats a hard song to pull off. Brilliant. Great job and a great way to honor a legend. Awesome job.
This is the moment when all understand who will be honored next time/years )))
Well done, Sting. Bravo! Someday you'll be honored too. Jose Feliciano will cover "Every Breath You Take" and It'll be awesome. Swear.
I wanna call 2009 & see if we can borrow some of this love & sanity....
@Tim Donofrio I hear ya and feel the same. I can't help but notice how the Obamas actually enjoy their lives. They're groovin' and singing along to music that we all have grown up on. I never in a million years would have thought we would go from that lovely First Couple full of life, joy, and grace; only to be slapped on the face daily that we have a first family now without an ounce of love or joy, and a big zero in the grace department! Could there be any starker contrast between an Obama White House with a loving and good family making positive contributions in just the way they interacted as a family and in their positions as POTUS and FLOTUS. Christmas decorations in the WH even look depressing. I guess we have to keep watching moments like these and remind ourselves to care about each other and our country because the people we pay sure aren't doing either. Peace!
How lucky could you be, being invited to these concerts!!!
I think what people feel and hear from Sting is his aura. Can’t hide it, but you sure can feel it! Classiest guy too!
He is Fabulous! Sting !
2:49 wonderful to see how much this man enjoys Stings performance. It seems like this song means a lot to him. He's even getting teary eyed.
When I was child my dad would often play this song and the 10 year old version of myself couldn't understand the words (I'm German) but feel the deep truth and beauty of this song. Now that I am able to fathom what the lyrics say I'm still amazed and touched every single time I listen to "The Rising"!
This song is my ideal of what America is all about. Freedom, decency, and resilience. A beacon.
❤Awesome Daddy ❤
❤So Humbling ❤❤❤
Well done well done well done hallelujah
Pure Joy.

This just makes me tear up. Bruce, Sting, The Obamas. Damn I hate where we are right now.
Wow, what a great performance by Sting, just look at The Boss and you his approval, they should sing this together!
