How to Change Ringtread on Tyre Casing by Recap || The Most Amazing Process of Retreading Old Tyre

  • 게시일 2022. 06. 02.
  • Retreading is a process through which we can use our old tyres. In this method, a worn casing of a tyre that has a good structural quality is taken off and put through a process in which it gets a completely renewed tread and sidewall rubber. After that, the revamped tyre is taken forward for a curing process in which the new rubber is vulcanized to the original casing and hence, the tyre gets a newly made tread pattern.

    Сама технология восстановления протектора имеет место быть. Но есть ряд факторов по которым восстановленная покрышка сильно будет отличаться от новой. Старение резины как фактор никто не отменял. Со временем резина под воздействием внешней среды деградирует, появляются микротрещины, ослабевает корд, усыхается. Поэтому с некой оговоркой восстановленную резину можно использовать.

    • @ballerblocks
      @ballerblocks 년 전 +1

      @@justahuman8790 lol. Modern tyres are made from recycled materials. Pls go read about how many heat cycles rubber can go through before it becomes unstable mess, modern tyres are not wholly made from recycled materials, they add a lot of petro chemicals to it so it regains it's elastic quality, that process only reduces cost of material sourcing not saving the environment. If you have ever been to a rubber tree farm, you would realize it's actually one of the few sustainable processes that exist today.

    Fascinating to watch with somewhat different equipment. I grew up working in my Dads tyre retreading and recap factory in New Zealand. Everyday after school and school holidays thru the 1960's. At that time Dad has been retreading longer than anybody else in NZ and he worked 6 days a week. When I was 15 I started work full time.
    I did everything with the exception of buffing heavy truck tires which were a 2 man job.

      Yes, we’ve all seen this frequently which is a good indication that the retreading industry is not properly regulated and that inferior and unsafe tires are sold to trucking companies on a regular basis.

      @@MariaMMCardoso: I think better uniformity in retread regulations and inspections would do a world of good since at the moment they seem to be all over the map depending on the state, province, county, region or country you live in. I noticed for example in this video the tire casing had numerous broken steel cords that were simply cut out and clipped off. This would be illegal in some jurisdictions but would be impossible to detect without x-ray testing. And of course once the tread has come flying off, it will never be detected. I’m sure there are lots of other cheats that are used as well - substandard adhesives, improper vulcanization, who knows. What I do know is that I’ve had to dodge rubber on the road dozens of times and even worse back in the days when people were crazy enough to put these things on passenger cars. The only good news so far is that they’re illegal on buses pretty much everywhere.
      (Those staples, btw, are just to hold the ends of the tread layer together during the curing process, they don’t hold it to the tire casing.)

      @Marleysdad808 년 전 +1

      @@rayray8687 Unfortunately you have almost no idea what you are talking about. Nothing in that video is illegal as you say. Steel cables do get damaged, they start to rust. That is how you repair the injury. As for the rubber you see on the roads, according to the American Retread Journal, over 90% of blown tires you see on roadways are from new tires. I found that quite amazing myself, but who am I to argue an industry news agency? I was in the retread industry for over 23 years, the biggest contributor to tire failure is the owner/operator, overloading/underinflating is the biggest factor. I have seen casings last 6-8 recaps without any problem.
      As for that shop, you are looking at a 3rd world country with probably 5th hand equipment. The machines look like they're from the 60's. When my father opened his shop in the mid 80's, we had newer equiptment than that. The entire process of capping that tire from start to when it went in the chamber would take 10-15 minutes with modern machines & only 3 men max.

      @@jenniferwhite6089 Sorry but that's incorrect. 50% of tires sold for Semi-trucks in the US are retreads. Around the World the numbers are similar. A quick Google search will back up my comment. Companies like Goodyear and Bridgestone retread all semi-truck tire casings that meet specifications. The process in this video is the same as shown in this video. I know because I have been to the plant where Goodyear has their tires retreaded. Again, this is something that can be easily researched.

      Hi, do you know what is that huge vaccumlike machine where the tires are stored for 8 hours for? what does it do?

    • @Jonathan.D
      @Jonathan.D 년 전 +11

      @@ADRIAN-zh4ti It's a pressure vessel also known as an auto autoclave. It applies heat and pressure to cause the tire casing and new tread to fuse together. It's like a giant pressure cooker. This is different from remolded tires. That's where rubber is added to the casing and then one at a time placed into a pressure chamber that fuses the two together, forms the rubber into tread, and vulcanizes it. Most used semi truck tires are reteaded/recapped. Large tires for tractors, wheel loaders, huge mine trucks, and the like often use remolded tires. That has to do with the large amount of rubber needed to remake the heavy tread lugs. I'll look to find a video of that process and link it in another reply.
