You do have to take into account that this is still the New York Jets... they have a history of beating the odds and finding ways to lose in spectacular fashion. Zach Wilson is doomed.

Their decision making has not grown and they keep making the same decisions on how to build their team. Same process, same decision making, different results? Yes, very logical conclusion. He doesn't need a crazy surrounding cast this year, he needs to take some steps forward, next year they will have 150 million in cap space which is absolutely absurd so why bother trading a first round pick and possibly more? You got a tight end who has a lot of potential, running backs who could catch the ball you got Darnell Mooney and Velus Jones who you drafted this year, the offensive line should be improved quite a bit and there's a huge upgrade to the coaching staff, so see where we're at after this season and you have an idea of what you got with Jones and then you got massive amounts of money you can spend next year.
The Jets offense is stacked! Getting Becton back and adding Laken Tomlinson....Breece Hall and Michael Carter....Uzomah and Conklin wow! Then add Garrett Wilson to Corey Davis and Elijah Moore? There are studs everywhere
But a dud under center. If Justin Fields played for the Jets, y’all would be in firm command of the AFC East.
I swear Kyle has no clue how football works💀 u need an o-line to thrive. He loves to bring up the Giants, so I'll use them as an example. The reason they don't know about Daniel Jones isn't cuz he hasn't had weapons, it's cuz he hasn't had an O-LINE. If u want Fields to succeed or at least TRY to make a jump, u can't trot him out there week 1 with that line. Idc if Randy Moss is his WR1, he has maybe the worst o-line in football, NOTHING will get done

Ummmmm why do we have to trade for DK? The only thing you're worried about is big names. Nothing wrong with what Chicago is doing, Mooney was 1,000 yard receiver, Pringle was 3 in TDs on a team with. I think fields will have the bigger season.

As a bears fan I agree. I hope both guys take a big leap. Jets in my opinion clearly won the off-season. They had an amazing draft and gave wilson a better chance to succeed. We still need to prove we can keep Fields clean and not running for his life.

I'm surprised they usually are so optimistic with these young guys but I agree with the "experts" for once

Zach Wilson was actually given pieces this off-season. That will help him.
Fields was the top rated passer when you look only at play action and bootlegs. The Shannahan/McVay system is probably 80% play action passing. So there is a case to be made for Fields in that sense.
I also think the ceiling of Fields is higher.
Fields easily has the most drastic improvement in the environment around him. Theres now a stable coaching staff and quality OC. Both will improve but Fields should make a huge leap

The team had and still has no talent which was all Paces fault. As of right now this current regime has zero wins and is absolutely not guaranteed to be better.

@@billshun3963 most rookies are bad their rookie year. They go to the worst teams with no help around them. That's why it usually takes 2 to 3 years like joe burrow and Josh allen. They were nothing special as rookies.

For me its Zach Wilson because, though fields has a better #1 we (Darnell mooney). His other targets are all #4 & #5 guys. While Wilson has Davis & Garrett Wilson and Moore and a better tight end. Anyway that's my take.
Mooney is very good. He isn't better than Elijah moore or wilson. They are close at best
Berrios/Hall/MC/Tevin Coleman/Tomlinson/AVT/Becton. Eventually Ruckert over the years will grow as the Jets #1 TE.

I really like Justin Fields as a prospect and wanted my team to draft him, but do you think Chicago has enough around him as far as his offensive line and weapons? Personally I dont think there’s enough good around him for him to have a successful season

People forget Justin has David Montgomery a borderline 1000 yard rusher with Khalil Herbert emerging in the backfield too. Mooney should be solid at the No. 1 and I expect Kmet take take a leap this year. They drafted a lot of lineman in this draft and brought in a lot of guys into that room which I think will breed more competition, the offensive line couldn’t be worse than last year.
This offense isn’t as bad as people say it is. There are some pieces, they just don’t have the flashy toy. I believe Chicago will be fighting for a playoff spot this year, especially with how they’re schedule looks they’ll be ok. Chicago is not a complete dumpster fire right now.
This is a bridge year, for the longevity of the team. Next year they’ll have the most cap space going into free agency and a first round pick, that’s when Justin will get spoiled.
I agree if the bears played like they did against the 49ers last year and play towards fields strengths. The bears could be good this year. The problem is that they have a variables to need to address and since the bears gave up a lot last year to get fields they have to work with what they have. Also it didnt help that mack ate up most of the salary cap. So the bears were very limited.

The comparison with Dak's rookie year is annoying. He had a much better team around him than either Fields or Wilson so comparing their rookie year stats is pointless.
I gotta admit that I've changed my mind on Metcalf. I first thought it would be a waste of money and picks to get him considering the Bears are just starting a rebuild. Now I'm thinking maybe it's not such a bad idea.
You can’t rebuild in 1 year 😂 the jets have been rebuilding before they drafted Wilson while Chicago just started rebuilding no thanks to Nagy or Pace. Both will make leaps this year but Wilson will be better bc again the Jets have been building longer than Chicago has.

One thing is Fact of every NFL commentator is , because they all work for NFL, they seem to never have any real truth of any negatives of any player in NFL and term their views as to promote the player of positives. Like Wilson from Jets, no one going to view him as a bust but a few fans here. They keep hyping him up and its all the same with rest of young players. Fans like myself be the dogs but if they have the real view of a player s potential, it would only be here.
A player was in an ugly situation last season and you take away some of his best supporting cast, yet we expect better season from him. It's a stupid question to expect Fields to play better this season when the team got worse that it was.

Both these young guys are talented with a ton of potential but this isn't even close. This should not be up for debate because Wilson has far better talent around him on the oline and skill positions, plus his second year in Mike LaFleur's system. He will take a significant jump this year as long as he can stay healthy or at least not miss much time if he does get injured.

Zach’s coach wanted him to win, but the results were similar. Now, imagine what Justin can do with a coach that likes his skills and a defense that can give home the ball back and or a short field. That’s a recipe for success. Justin will only get better at scoring touch downs, with repetition in the red zone

Very simple answer, the last 5 weeks of the season, Zach Wilson was the best rookie QB in the league, even better then Mac and cheese. When he came back from injury he was a completely different person and it showed on the field. With no supporting characters, he made Antonio Brown lose his mind and walk off the field. The jets were one bad coaching call from beating the TB bucs.
