This is one of my favorite episodes, because when Michael lashes out on Jim and tells him to let them have a "stupid little game", it was one of those rare moments where he displayed full social awareness and it makes you think that all of his antics along the series were just a facade to keep up the spirit in the office. Michael Scott played by Steve Carell truly was the glue of The Office
No, not at all! Michael Scott in the first, second seasons was a complete buffoon, there was no facade in front of it! You can pinpoint the exact moments that Michael's character and social interaction suffer a blow strong enough to change him inside (the karaoke party at Jim's place, for example).
In this case Michael concluded the obvious but not because he acted like a genius but because Jim was too marveled by his then recent higher position and wanted to "act like a boss" to prove to himself "he was an adult". This is the moment Jim gets off his high horse and see that Michael's work methods are not "crazy", "childish" just because he thinks they are.
@@redacted2275 But when the situation calls for it, Michael will do his job perfectly. Like how he was on a sales job with Jan in season 2. He took his time while Jan was rushing through the sale and in the end, they got the sale because Michael knew what the client wants.
This is one of the funniest episodes of the show IMO. Michael is hysterical when he tries to distract everyone with the game.
I think that game also helped Michael distract himself too. He was upset about the situation as much as his employees

Michael started becoming a much better manager, especially in Seasons 5 and 6. His actions in New Leads backfired, but he had the right idea to check the sales team on their attitude
