Fun fact, for alot of sports teams, baseball included, the employees in the stadium generally aren't paid by the team. The concessions rights are sold to a company who employs them. So the teams don't need to worry about attendance affecting daily intake because they're bid is guaranteed. They do this because if some gets sick or over served the team isn't sued, the concessions company is. And a new company can just bid for the spot after the team drops them. This isn't all teams, but alot of them. Source: I worked for one.

I am losing my mind right now. I’M DYING TO EXPLAIN TO THEM HOW IT WORKS. Players do not sign super extended contracts. It’s a normal contract that a team cuts/buys-out a player and the players agent them offers a deal that allows the team to defer payments for a given period of time instead of paying it off at the contractually scheduled annual rate. In doing this, they charge interest and that’s how the total gets to be multi-million-per-year payments. Bonilla allowed the Mets to not make payments for an agreed upon amount of years because the Mets were stupid broke and charged interest for every year which is why what was only a few million left that was owed turned into many, many millions owed.

Pat even semi-pro baseball manages to pay people pretty well and still be profitable. If you really think about how much it costs to go to a baseball game, and then consider that even mid-small market teams will have 50,000+ fans on any given weekend home series, along with TV, radio, and field advertising, it's not hard to imagine how they're profitable.

Question??? With these deals , Does the deal end if god forbid the player pass away during the term of the contract...or the team still have to continue paying their family or bffs whoever to it's end...ie can the player assign a beneficiary per say?

Have you heard of a little thing known as inflation. Prices you pay for things go up automatically. If you can spread the same payment over a longer time to a player he actually gets cheaper over time. The organisation gets larger dollar wise or more valuable and the payments stay the same and therefore the payment actually gets less. It is in fact the reason people buy stocks or real estate as their value increases and the payments involved in holding these things stay constant or lessen. There would also be many years where players are playing above their wages that the organisation is gaining on. I would say the hits would far outweigh the misses or the organisations wouldn’t do it.

Those deferred payments are smart for a lot of reasons, one even if you’re an idiot and blow it all on cars and booze you’ve got more coming and secondly it can help with taxes if you get smaller yearly amounts

The best deal of all team was the Silna brothers, because their ABA team wasn't one of the teams merging with the NBA, negotiated a % of the 4 ABA-NBA teams Tv rights for perpetuity. The NBA was finally able to badger them into a settlement in 2014, but only after having to pay them hundreds of millions in tv revenue.
