Cameron Peltier well the Pats likely don’t expect much out of him imo. His floor is a Wildcat/one of the best backups in the league, for a cheap price. However his ceiling could be the MVP Cam. I’ve lived in NC during the Cam era, the Coach’s here stopped believing in him for a reason. Dude is a flat out diva.

Honestly I feel like if he shows out he’s the automatic starter for the pats years to come. I honestly don’t see anything special as of right now from Jarrett Stidham. Cam brings a whole new level to the field and I can only imagine the trickery they will pull if he starts.

J Merch yea man I’ve seen tons of highlights and such this offseason of J and his arm accuracy is definitely canny but man does he sometimes hold onto that ball for too long. That ain’t gonna work out in the NFL. He’s gonna be a good QB but as of right now Cam is way above him in all standards.

There’s great potential with Cam and damn glad he’s a Pat. There is always the hope but the potential he doesn’t fit the Patriot way. We have seen it. Randy Moss and Corey Dillon we’re brilliant! Warren Hainesworth, Ocho Cinco and AB not so much. I hope Cam is built of the things that are the Patriot way. This could be a truly exciting NFL season if he is.

Cam in the last 8 games is 0-8 has 0tds to 4 picks has had 2 shoulder surgeries, has only completed 57% of his passes and has only attempted 13 passes 15+ yards out of 160 attempts. He had a foot injury that has hampered his rushing ability. He’s simply not good anymore

I am Nobody Yeah but now he hasn’t won a game in almost 2 years and his arm is gone. His coach passed up on him twice for an undrafted guy and none of his former assistant coaches from Carolina wanted him. Cam will probably not start in New England and end up getting cut unless his shoulder is magically healed

No, they are not incentives, it's basically structured so if he ends up having to play for stidham they still only have to pay him a max of 7.5 mil. As soon as I seen the contract I knew it was a back up contract.

i honestly don't know who's going to be the Week 1 starter. I mean, the scale is weighted towards Newton at the moment, but there is an argument for each of them. Remember, we just signed Cam this past Sunday, and players have been known to want out of New England based on inability to learn the playbook (Chad Johnson and Reggie Wayne come to mind). But also, we just had a global pandemic shut down pretty much all of the offseason to this point, so who's to say Cam's not there to buy Stidham time to make up for that lost time? If Cam sufficiently learns the playbook by camp's end, he's starting Week 1. Otherwise, it's Stidham, but with Newton looming should things go south.
I'm not a Patriots fan, but I'll say cam still a good solid quarterback and smart move from bill

Cam will most likely be starting. Stidham needs to be developed more. And observing a guy like Cam, who he shares more play style similarities with is a good option. The contract is another tell, as it helps both cam and the patriots. Cam can use this year as a showing off point to show the rest of the NFL he is ready to start again and the patriots can use this very team friendly deal to recover from some losses, and flesh out their offensive package with a new QB style we havent seen the Pats use in a while.

Whether Cam starts is up to Cam. How fast can he learn the playbook and out perform Stid in practice? Even if Stidham does start. Cam needs to just be in that playbook and he may get the chance to pull a Jeff Hostetler/Trent Dilfer/Nick Foles the minute Stidham struggles or gets hurt.
