Should the MLB let players go back to the McGwire/Sosa era? This is a clip from McAfee & Hawk Sports Talks live from 1pm-2pm EST Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri. SUBSCRIBE: / @thepatmcafeeshow MERCH: store.patmcafeeshow.com
19bayarea91 yea because the balls are juiced numb nuts. Look at bonds, McGuire, Sosa, then look at the bodies of modern hitters. Dudes like javy Baez can swing one handed in the dirt and drill it 450 to dead center. It’s clearly an attempt to increase home runs by new balls
True. It would be whoever gets the best quality roids and can handle the most, or it has the most effect on. Who can get huge and still run fast enough/swing a bat.
How does everyone have the option to do it? College players looking to get into the MLB can't afford steroids. You are giving an unfair advantage for all current players to retain their positions and new talent will be unable to compete
The answer is always no, how would draft picks be able to compete coming out of highschool/college against juiced pros. Simple, they start taking steroids. How do highschool players get on to college teams or get scouted? Taking steroids. If one person is allowed to take steroids then EVERYONE will take steroids to be on an even playing field
People don’t want to hear this but every single pro athlete is on some sort of performance enhancer. It’s just not possible to be competitive in sports like football/baseball with how little rest they get. I’m not saying guys are juiced beyond belief like they were in the early 2000’s MLB. They’re not all on steroids per say, but I’d bet my house they all take something.
For men, testosterone literally improves everything. Yes, makes you stronger but it helps with recovery time, immune system, bone density, mental wellness and clarity... It's incredibly beneficial for males. Just like everything else, when it is abused it can be destructive but if you allowed it under medical supervision and you could have healthier players and overall better product.
My friends and I have joked about this for years. Even if it has to be two separate leagues, they should do it. Baseball has never been as hot as it was during the roids era
Yes McGuire and Sosa saved baseball after the 94 strike where the expos probably would have won the pennant! Fans of the game were pissed and not coming back until the bombs started flying out the park
Not when they can just juice up the baseballs and make them jump better, they will never assume the responsibility for the health risks that are involved with steroids when there is another possible solution
Anabolic steroids are terrible on your body. Any sports league that makes it legal loses all credibility. That's why "professional bodybuilding" is such a joke.
All major sports athletes should be allowed to take whatever they want under doctor’s observation. Especially the NFL, football players should have access to exogenous testosterone at a minimum
When it comes down to it yes a couple of these guys got to hit a few extra home runs because they were Using performing enhancing Drugs but the reality of it is that there is no drug on the market that gives you an eye for the ball. Either You are a pure hitter or you're not... Again don't get me wrong they did get to knock a few extra over the wall because of the added strength but in the grand scheme of things these guys were still the greatest hitters in the game
The added muscles make your swing faster, meaning you can hit that one ball you otherwise might've just missed. There are many more advantages, some only minor, to using steroids. If it didn't, nobody would be using it.
I understand what you're saying but if you notice only about 10% of all ball players Bat over 300.... And that's because I have a natural eye for the balls yes taking performance enhancing drugs does help but it doesn't make you a better hitter it just means the ones you do hit gonna go a little bit farther
I say no, cuz there are still a considerable amount of health risks with using steroids, and sets a bad example to kids that they can only win if they are on them
@@michaelchen1838 I would if I was at that level. Especially if it were legal and I wouldn't be banned from competition. Wouldn't even be a hard decision for me
All sports should allow juice besides fighting, most pro athletes already do in some way. I wanna see absolutely YUGE linemen and defensive players, I wanna see every WR break the current combine 40yd record. Patty Mahomes throws a 90 yd thru the air TD. None in fighting because I do not want to see a juiced headkick become a decapitation
If you let players juice then you’ll be creating another level of competition that would make non-juicers less competitive, thus making giving every player an incentive to juice. This is wrong as juicing can have major health consequences and players shouldn’t feel like they have to just to keep up.
No, he tested positive. The positive tests were unable to determine at the time if it was from over the counter or prescription steroids though. He definitely tested positive
Mr. Olympia allows Juicing all the time. Why not? It provided some of the greatest of greatest to all compete at once some say in the 90’s early 2000’s era best ever to produce. It’s as bad as what the Astros did.
It was hilarious when Canseco told on everyone and all the media said he was just a mad ex player! Pretty obvious with Bonds, Sosa and Edgar went from 185 to 240 in off season! Franco playing till he was 51 from skinny kid to all muscle! Sierra lifted a little to much and couldn't swing a bat normal anymore
I would watch it so much more
So half of a game......
Last year there were the most homeruns in major league history so if homeruns is what you want to see you should already be watching it.

Futurama had a good take on it when they said at some point they made steroids mandatory for all players lol
Still couldn’t hold up to the Ol Robot Leagues
2:10 - 2:27 had me crying 🤣🤣🤣

Would be fun to see lol
Altuve doesn’t need to wear a buzzer anymore
SB Evboi LMAO
If it was legal, you'd see people's hearts giving out real fast.
Yeah kinda like how Sosa, McGwire, Bonds ect have all had there hearts give out
Jaxon Karnoski They only juiced for part of their careers and bond had severe health problems as a result
5:20 “skittles” lol it piss
Its technically not an advantage if everyone has the option to do it
Jake Fulton it’s an advantage over previous players records
SkillSwiper just start a new thing of records and preserve the previous records

I don't condone steroids but they don't help hand eye coordination or not swinging at bad pitches
Love the show
It’s better done in secrecy, more entertainment
Can we just get to the point where it's like that old NES game, Base Wars, where all the players are robots?
The crazy thing is using roids is still less overpowered than knowing what pitch is coming every at bat
As long as it is orange juice.
Yes
They basically already did now they juiced the balls thats why they hit so many homeruns now
make baseball fun again

if they did maybe i would start watching again. i havent watched a game since 2005
Not only should they let em juice, they should let them fight. Like hockey, first to fall then umps step in. Use a penalty box for too

Sosa / McGuire was my favorite time to watch MLB 👍

Hell no!
Or just allow corked bats still makes it more entertaining and less health issue
Everyone crying about the health risks and they wouldn't take the risk for millions of dollars....
But as a kid you'd take a health risk for a 20?
Anabolic steroids are terrible on your body. Any sports league that makes it legal loses all credibility. That's why "professional bodybuilding" is such a joke.
Its cheating. Its worse than stealing signs.
How did McAfee not know that Clemens was a cheater? 🤔

they should let each team have one or two designated roiders.
Yes they would when they got paid!! And if you think trout with that neck ain't doing something??
I don’t just because it dosent promote good mental and long term physical health.
Heard it shrinks your junk!! That I DONT need!
I think steroids in any sport other than MMA/Boxing should be completely legal. I want to be entertained dammit.
Higher testosterone levels do help with reaction time. I still think that there shouldn't be testing for steriods.
Every MLB player should be required to take steroids and adderall. It would make for an interesting season. Most homeruns in history.
Last year already had the most homeruns in history without that(not saying that there are no players taking them).
Yes and allow Kap back into the NFL
I say no, cuz there are still a considerable amount of health risks with using steroids, and sets a bad example to kids that they can only win if they are on them
There are considerable health risks with playing any game at that level
Josh Cook yes but you can eliminate one that is proven to do so. Would you take the same steroids?
@@michaelchen1838 I would if I was at that level. Especially if it were legal and I wouldn't be banned from competition. Wouldn't even be a hard decision for me

Khalil Mack didn't get that big naturally. It's not even possible to get that big naturally no matter how good your genetics are.
@@icelover3 270 almost all muscle? No way bro it's just mass gainers
@@iamnotjcook Yeah just mass gainer and creatine
Do it MLB...you won’t.

I think the penalties shouldnt be as harsh but you cant just let everyone juice. Only bring the hammer down when its really egregious.
MLB is trash right now and has been for the past decade. Anything can help
Take Sosa off the thumbnail. Never tested positive.
No, he tested positive. The positive tests were unable to determine at the time if it was from over the counter or prescription steroids though. He definitely tested positive
I’m a mediocre college baseball player and i would take steroids on 2 seconds if I could
Even knowing what it could do to your body later in life? Idc im a huge baseball fan, I think guys like Bonds Clemens are obv HOF’s. I’m just curious.
We all know Cody Bellinger used PEDs just look at him 😂
Mr. Olympia allows Juicing all the time. Why not? It provided some of the greatest of greatest to all compete at once some say in the 90’s early 2000’s era best ever to produce. It’s as bad as what the Astros did.
Yeah of course the IFBB wouldn't test for steroids, nobody wants to watch natural bodybuilding. Do you know how boring that is?
Isn’t Football America’s game now, not baseball! Sorry but baseball is so long and boring!!! NFL all the way!!
It was hilarious when Canseco told on everyone and all the media said he was just a mad ex player! Pretty obvious with Bonds, Sosa and Edgar went from 185 to 240 in off season! I guess you guys are okay with smoking a cigar and having a beer on the field too. Lol
Why not
I mean NBA let’s Lebron take roids .
