We need some more WVU stories..
Billy Bob Thornton underrated comment
I graduated from WVU in 2001
and Pat is not exaggerating one bit. It was 18 to get in most bars and they’d give you a wrist band if you were 21 but as long as the alcohol control board or whatever they’re called wasn’t in town it was 18 to drink in most bars. I did many mug nights with a double gulp, pro tip...get two double gulp cups and put one inside the other because by the end of the night your first cup will start getting soggy at the bottom
@@ScottTX79 I was in your class. The best years of my life as an undergrad at WVU.
Pat singing MCR. This just made my day 😂
Never thought I’d see the day
When I was a young boy, Po-li-an took me to indy city.
Same here
I was born and raised just outside of Morgantown, the partying went into full tilt mode in the mid 80’s. I joined it in the mid 90’s, and went to school there 99-01. Throughout that time it evolved from basically anarchy to mostly lawlessness right up through my time attending WVU, and just when they started enforcing the bare minimum of rules, enter Pat’s era. BOOM! All of a sudden it was a whole new ball game that came with unprecedented levels of success/exposure. THANK YOU PAT! I’m eternally grateful for you and the boys for the immeasurable good you did for our state. It was truly the Golden Age for WVU in every way, and Morgantown is still riding the wave that y’all started. It’s sounds ridiculous, but I end up having to downplay reality of that time I’m Morgantown to people, because the reality of that situation is unimaginable to those who weren’t there. I swear that on the brand, and if you want proof, just look at that 1,000 yard stare Pat has at the end of the clip. Almost Heaven, indeed. These days it’s calmed down, rightfully so, but that’s only in proportion with every other college campus. We all miss the good old days, and some folks just wish they could remember them. Let us leave no doubt that it’s as true today as it ever was, Mountaineers Are Always Free🍻

🎶Cue Country Roads🎶
Hey brother, I graduated in ‘93 and I spent time on High St. Looking back I wouldn’t change a thing, made many friends and got a pharmacy degree to boot.
Wish Blue Mountain State didn't get cancelled. Great show.
The TV show was good, the movie was meh
@@Nevano12 Thadland.
Dude please share stories of pat white and those teams more. Would love your perspective a clear ability to tell a great story.
I had a few classes with a bunch of the football players. Both of the Pat’s, Dingle and a few of the others. I cannot tell you how much I miss Morgantown. I’ve partied in a LOT of places but no where compares.
The period of time around 04 to 06 was amazing
Mo-Town!! Let’s go Mounties!!! Patty Mac was a legend on campus
More stories from Morgantown!!
This is priceless! I love it. Country Roads Take Me Home! You're always welcome back Pat. The single greatest kicker not only at WVU but the NFL as well. You sir are the GOAT of kickers
The only podcast i watch love ittt
morgantown!!!
That time in Morgantown was insane
It has calmed down some. Well see how much once WVU gets an emotional upset win over a top 10 team.
Man this is the only podcast that doesn’t get boring
It got boring for me. I don’t watch it that much anymore
Not really the only one
@@bobjones8197 I recommend listening to the misfits podcast on spotify.
misfits and rogan don't either imo
Legend
One of the things I enjoy most about his shows is his honesty.
So much truth in this, haha! Was in Mo-Town from '88-'92, CRAZY times!! And good luck finding a couch!
In Morgantown it still goes down
Best show on youtube! Pat, thank you and the boys for making this a treat every day.
The fact that they all say things in unison is so great ! 😂
For the brand
Hey Pat,
I went to Frostburg State a small school about 40 mins away, I have taking a few trips to WVU and i can agree Morgantown was nuts on the weekends lol
Frostburg State Grad 2002. WVU for a year. 💙💛💙💛💙
Morgantown was nuts every night. Didn't even have to be a weekend.
Morgantown, like a lot of small cities that host party schools, is its own little binge drinking bubble. Even if you weren't much of a partier you could still easily find some action if you wanted on any given night of the week. Having a housemate in a serious major like engineering just meant that the attic had an improvised air conditioning system to keep things comfortable while the stripper pole was in use.
Can you do your power rankings for this year?
Finally a topic he can grasp.
Keep 'em high and inside, boys.
High St.!!! Great times there in MoTown!!! Got my pharmacy degree there, I wonder how and the hell I made it through!!!
Don't know when you went, but I actually worked with a guy on campus that got accepted into the pharmacy school around 01.
I graduated in ‘93
“WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY!!” 😂🤣
Ocean Springs next to Biloxi, MS has several bars that do drink til you drown. At least they did in 2012. Crazy, wild times
“Your bar” is classic lol
Almost went to WVU. Had no idea it was Pat's school, wouldve been nice to tell people I went to the same college as Pat Mcafee
Being from Motown I agree it was wild. High Street was chaos
High Street is still chaos. WCLG finally moved from the old building down on High, but before they did the morning show's stories about things they saw when they came in were hilarious.
I remember the days when Sunnyside aka the yippie hippie ghetto block parties on Grant St were pretty sick too. If you go back, you won't recognize it. The University acquired most of the slum houses on Grant St. It's all dorms now.
Always wanted to go to Morgan town I only made it to Huntington because that's where my family is from lol
50 cent pitchers! Pat you're sounding like you're as old as my grandpa
I think every college campus I've been too from 1996 to two years ago had pitchers for change.
The 50 cent pitchers in Morgantown were legit. My buddies and I would kill 30+ pitchers every Monday night at Shooters in early 2000's. A few nights we have no idea how we didn't die. Morgantown is still crazy though. I'm too old for that crap anymore, but it's still wild.
@@brianm6117 Hell yeah, Shooters. Can't forget about Dr. Longshots as well. LoL.
@@brianm6117 The last time I went to Morgantown for homecoming was in 2016. Took me 2 days to recover.
@@bencole5793 Longshots. Motties place. I think the bars change names/ownership about every 5/10 years.
Pat describing Morgantown sounds EXACTLY like Athens, Ohio... except the “good at sports” part
Very similar dude. I dig em both.
I love Athens too! I have a buddy that has a tat shop on N. Court. Great town, but not quite as crazy as Mo-Town (Except the Halloween block parties).
Sounds Like lincoln nebraska lol
Paul Varizer really? What shop? I might have gotten a tat there
Athens has absolutely zero on Morgantown. I have partied in both. Athens in dope but Morgantown is just something else. Miss of out of state kids and kids from the hollers
I can confirm, 25 cent drinks still exist in Morgantown
Just make sure the liquor isn't watered down. Especially at a Reese owned bar in the late 90's early 00's
Eskimo Joes in Stillwater Oklahoma used to do $5 at the door bottomless bottles when I was in college 09-13, don’t know if they do it anymore but i remember going and having a good time
Drinkin with Lincoln !
0:06
Mountain State
Btown and Muncie had the same types of places in the mid 00's. I think there was/is? a place called Upstairs in Btown that had quarter pitchers or something ridiculous
If he says his WVU team was like BMS, does that mean Pat is Harmon the kicker? Pat did your coach send you an interesting photo that was clearly meant for someone else....
Classic episode
one of the best episodes
Rich showed him his Rod
Morgantown WV, we drink more beer by 9am that what you do all day :)
WVU: We pregame harder than most colleges party.
Spaceship
Morgantown has definietely been duplicated come to lincoln nebraska during football season lol O street is basically a riot after each game and after the bars closed there's a neighborhood right next to the stadium called the north bottoms which is where all the cheap student housing is located and its basically a party until 10am the next day
After hours late nights. Plenty of those in Morgantown too.
WV native and fan for life, was there at the WVU-Pitt game lol Pat knows what I’m talking about 😂
You mean the game that RichRod called some terrible plays and had Pat White shrugging his shoulders looking at the sideline like WTF?
I’m starting to dread the weekends because I’m deprived of the best podcast in the world :’(
420 POG
As an maturing adult, any comments (pro/con) on what you think should be behaviour/discipline rules applicable to college athletes?
Not gonna lie listening to this story I was like man was blue mountain state just pat mcafees college life 😂
West Virginia is also the place where a 30 rack of Natty Light cost $13 lol.
Hell, for a 30 pack of Milwaukees Beast was only $6 back in the late 90's.
Coincidence the video is 4:20 I think not.
Morgantown is no Huntington, but it's okay I guess.
Yeah, if you want heroin or your head blown off lol
@@canondocre8650 or both.
Story was great as usual ....but I couldn't keep my eyes off that bat ....I could die a happy man if I had that bat signed by the greatest punter of all time 🐐
Sorry Pat, but by the time you got to Morgantown, things were almost tame compared to us old-timers (WVU BSEE 1980). Even us almost straight laced majors like Engineering were considered weird if we did not get totaled at least twice during the week and who can remember anything about a weekend? Playboy for years had us not listed in the party school edition with the footnote that they could not consider us because they did not rate professionals.
per Playboy: Sorry WVU we cannot rate professionals.
Hey pat, the standards to get in are still very low
the quick cut to connor at the beginniing was sooooo awkward lol why was that edited or left in? camera detects sound to switch to and nobody has the skills to edit clips?
Stillwater, Oklahoma is extremely similar to Morgantown.
The way it used to be anyway!
Come visit Boulder, Colorado. I’ll take the state of Colorado over Oklahoma, every time.
No Fun League....
The clever creek evocatively destroy because flock lamentably polish without a berserk ping. puzzled, vague hamburger
You can't even burn couches in Morgantown no more
You couldn't back in the 90's either but we still did.
RIP penny pitchers. I feel bad for anyone who didn’t have a real college town experience. I’d put Oxford, MS up against anywhere. Including Morgantown
Boulder, Colorado vs Oxford, Mississippi...really?
...I’m assuming this is a joke/sarcasm....Morgantown, WV is/was..... no words to actually describe...
I could of never guessed West Virginia “university” had barely any rules and Hardly any standards
Oh we had standards, they just weren't heavily enforced.
he's kinda exaggerating..also I doubt ANYONE served him after 2007 pitt
I was at WVU 2008-2012
He really isn’t, I don’t know what crowd you were around but we were beer bonging from 3 floor balcony’s and passing out in lawns. Setting couchs on fire. Beer was free so many places
Not cool dude. That game wasn't lost because of Pat and there are MANY MANY MANY FANS who would agree with me. That game was lost because of Rich Rod. Pat was unfairly blamed by Rod and his cronies in my humble opinion. Most of WVU still and has always loved Pat. PERIOD
FIRST
Second
First. Just kidding. I was actually busy unlike some people... watching a different video.
Morgantown, is the only college town I’ve seen that gives Boulder, Colorado a run for its money. Hands down, Boulder and Morgantown 1, 2. Would I want to spend 4 years in Morgantown over Boulder? No, thank you.
pat is so washed up now. keep relivin the glory days mountaineer
One thing with WVU never changes. The standards to get in are still very low
sadly everything else is not as crazy now
WVU serves its purpose at the end of the day. Much like LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, etc. it’s never gonna be an AAU school, but it gives the residents of the state an opportunity for a relatively affordable college education they couldn’t afford otherwise, and gives them a good start to their career prospects.
Louisiana is a poor state, like West Virginia, so I speak from experience. State universities serve their purpose. We can’t all be Ivy League schools.
I TOTALLY disagree
It still has 26 Rhodes Scholars 45 Goldwater Scholars, the only Forensic Science Dept. in the US that's partnered with the FBI, and 20 current/former fortune 500 CEO's. An institution should be fairly judged by the success of its graduates.
@@averagecitizen8491 well said sir!
