That 14 day quarantine period is just a number, which is yet another aspect of this pandemic that the NFL hopefully is taking into account. Some people are taking much longer to recover. So it's possible a star player may end up being out for six weeks and never gets back into football shape afterwards because their lungs aren't healed yet. I feel like pro sports is taking a rather huge risk by moving forward when it's clear that we're not even remotely out of the woods with this thing yet. If a team one week has 30 players test positive, can they possibly be remotely competitive with half a roster churned? This whole thing just sucks.

why dont they just test all nfl players and have them quarantined in dorms?
It's a bit more complex than that as you need to do the same with everyone who is in the operation, including the training/equipment staff, cleaning staff, the people serving food, and everything else that could possibly be involved. So you're looking at 5-10k people in one area if you don't split the league in half, but yeah that is effectively the idea behind the Hub Cities the NHL and probably the NBA are using

Lawrence Merriman All of these players have families for starters. Also even some of the athletes themselves have pre existing health conditions such as asthma. Also, it's hard to play a game whilst being sick even if they aren't going to die from it
