Not always. We still don't understand what causes such violent reactions. Look at that nurse who was super fit, he lost 50 lbs due COVID-19. Meanwhile an elderly person can go by with just mild symptoms.

@@c18x66 what I'm trying to say is that there are still a lot that we do not know about this virus. Conventionalwisdom tells us that healthier people will fair better but this isn't a normal virus. We can't say for certain that being in great shape will automatically help you get over it quickly. That's why this virus is so scary.

Germany was on an almost identical trajectory with covid-19 as America. They were extremely proactive with contact tracing and testing though, and have virtually disabled it's contagion. Wish we would've followed that track in the land of the free.

These issue with covid is that it ISNT just life or death. There is commonly long term and short term respiratory issues. From months of breathing recovery, continued oxygen, and needing a whole new lung.

Zeke is in the prime of his life and is built like a machine. He’ll have a few sniffles and be back to normal in a few weeks
It just makes you less likely....there are tons who got extremely ill who were in perfect health. Certainly not a large % of cases but it doesn’t make you automatically immune to symptoms.
Lost a 38 year old friend with no previous health issues to Covid. The statistics mean nothing to the individual. It's not LIKELY to kill you, but it absolutely can kill you.

Waivers are only worth as much as the paper they are printed on. We learned that the first year of law school. If negligence leads to harm there will be legal action. I'd argue that the college is forced to sign a waiver. Look at the Hollywood unions barring waivers, keep this strong arming up and these kids will unionize.

ccoleman1316 2.2 million if absolutely nothing is done to try and mitigate the spread over the course of the entire pandemic. If social distancing measures and other tactics are used that number falls, which was seen in real time and why we have 100,000 deaths.

I have something for everyone....Pat said he does not think players will miss time for COVID unless they have to be quarantined....There are other ways....like if you are not asymptomatic. I had the complete displeasure of meeting this bug myself. I am not an asymptomatic carrier. I can promise you this...if anyone that tests positive gets symptoms..they are not playing ANY sports! The only time that will matter is if they have time to make it to the bathroom..at least for a while. After that, you can time how long your coughing lasts and how much weight you coughed up. Outside of that...you will not be doing anything for quite some time. I know for me, it took 2 months before I felt mostly over it. I was completely out of it for over a week with 104 fever with higher spikes, usually at night. The congestion does not leave..it will not go away. It tests you mentally as much as physically..and leaves you just plain depleted. I do not wish this in anyone, and I sincerely hope no athletes end up with symptoms...but, if you do get the full version of this bug..you will be missing more than quarantine type time. Stay safe, and healthy, everyone...The fewer stories like mine..the better!!
