Reality is that you don't have the time to even cook for the family much less to be looking after Mia, or to be often sweeping the floors to get rid of the dog hair. You had a dog before, and you were not able to take care of that dog either. Give the dog away to a family that is able to give the dog the love and attention that a dog deserves.

If you guys are keeping her in another house by herself then it is best to give her away to a family that will give her their undivided attention. It would be for the best of the dog and your sweet children. It isn't fair for an animal to be alone in a house without love or care.
