Sims 3 music is so suspenseful and dramatic. And I'm so disappointed in the way pets die in Sims 4. They just... die. No clouds, no rainbows, no toys. It is so sad.

Honestly, The Sims 3 version had so much personality and you could also add him in as a family member using a glitch.

Sims 2 hula death and Sims 3 pets deaths are the most bittersweet wholesome animations in the whole game series.

Fun fact, in the sims 3 playing chess against the grim reaper is a reference to the Swedish 1957 movie The Seventh Seal, which the entire movie revolves around a knight playing chess against the grim reaper to cheat death.

i can't think about a life simulation game without the grim reaper anymore, the concept is just perfect.

Sims 1 is the cutest, with Bonehilda and the ding dong ditch. But the best is The Sims 3 surprisingly. He has so much interactions especially with his manner.

I died laughing at the evil chicken kicking Grims butt. I never knew this was a thing but I swear that by far was the best Easter egg

Winner? Sims Medieval. Dramatic red robes, black wings, long white hair and fur collar, skull and hourglass at his waist, Warcraft-looking jagged scythe. You can't interact with him, probably because it's the Middle Ages and he's already got reapings booked back to back so no time to dawdle. Best Reaper, hands down.
Sims 4 is kinda lame, especially considering some of the awesome concept art that lost to the final, cutesy-fied and inoffensive version. And while the real reason he does not react to the earlier DLC animals is probably just EA being lazy, I like to think that him reacting to the farm animals is because he was a country boy and a farm boy in life, and thus has a special fondness for them.

We stan the sims 2 & 3 for showing the reaper care so much for the animals when they die, the fact the sims 4 reaper doesn’t just furthers the fact ts4 is trash

I'd forgotten how terrifying the Sims 1 Grim Reaper was to me. The music alone gave me anxiety.

I remember when I heard the sims 3 music for the first time, so cool ! I honestly think that the grim reaper in the sims 3 was the best !

S3 has my favorite reaper: dramatic entrance, epic music, cool animations, sociable (interactable), good with animals + you can add him to household and the game doesn't break.
But it also has the lamest design out of the four, I mean no ripped fabric, no skeleton ribs showing through, no floating skulls, just a plain cloak that makes the reaper looks like a black rectangle. I think S1 had the best design, while S4 is the most funny (that fridge bunny lol).
Although, without the cloak, that pitch black skin looks so cool, like he's made out of of darkness! By comparison, S4 reaper looks just like a regular sim with bugged clothes.

The fact that Grim will hug the pets when they die is honestly so bittersweet and adorable, just really drives home the message that he’s not evil, he’s just doing his job ❤

Honestly I don't think I can choose a winner 😂 they all have their special moments with the Reaper.
I do have a vivid memory in the Sims 4 when someone died at a Longue, the Reaper just started to sing karote after he did his deed 😂 😂 I was laughing quite hard at that.

In sims 4, the Grim Reaper will panic if a pregnant sim goes into labor on the same lot as him. Same animation as sims panicking around a kitchen fire.

Whenever my mom sees me playing The Sims she calls the Grim Reaper of "the man who kills", even though I explain that he doesn't kill anyone, he only looks for those who died. I'm the one who kills them.

Not the sims 3 grim reaper music jumpscare for me. 😆 I remember my elder sim passed which I was waiting for her to since I wanted to expand the family but them she autonomously wiped out the death flower and was revived by grim. I was shocked, annoyed but also like wowed. She lived a good second life at least. 😆

The Sims Medieval has by far the best Grim Reaper in terms of looks. And, probably, the worst in terms of interaction

In the consoles versions of the Sims 2, your sim has to play a fiddle against Grim. It’s a nod to the Devil went Down to Georgia. Probably my favorite way to be resurrected.

TS2:OFB also had "Rally Forth," whereby if sims needs get to low, they can ultimately die. Although they die from hunger, Grim does show up on the business lot. Also, Grim shows up when sims are "scared to death," by a ghost or vampire's coffin.
You can also have a baby with the Grim Reaper with cheats and/or mods in TS2. You can add him to the household with cheats, but it will likely corrupt your game. Oh, and one other aspect of TS2, if a sim is the last to die on the lot (even if vistors are present), Grimm will interact with objects on the lot. Aside from the Grimm Reaper, if a visitor goes into aspiration failure (due to a death fear), and a therapist visits said sim, if you save and quit while the invisible therapist is still present, the therapist now becones the occupant of the home, but continues to be invisible, and will likely crash your game if you try to play the household.
I have to admit, I love the horror elements of TS1's Grimm Reaper, the aesthetics and personality in TS2, The appreciation of the main pets in TS3, and the lack of personality of Grim in TS4.

one thing you forgot about: how death interracts with unlucky-traited sims.
if one dies, death will appear, point and laugh at their ghost, then revive them. this will keep happening until the sim is set to die of old age. then they finally die for real.

Honestly though, he’s an icon regardless of what game he’s in. I like him in all of them for the reasons above and more.

The Grim Reaper actually leaves different messages in Sims 2 depending on how your last Sim died/left and the game guesses whether you were being intentional or not. There were 3 messages I can remember, I think: one that you showed, where Reaper reprimands you for playing the game as though it was a death simulator and you would be reigning champion; and one which talks about Grim's personality, specifically that he likes horses and long walks on the beach. I get the latter when they all die of natural old age.

Imagine Reaper takes your beloved husband … then USES YOUR COMPUTER AFTER DENYING YOUR REQUEST TO KEEP HUSBAND LIVING

I absolutely loved the high aspiration elder death in 2. It was kind of happy and not just depressing. It really made it seem like an endcap on a life well-lived. They need to bring something like that back for 4 and/or 5.
I do like how being confident makes you a little more likely to convince the reaper in 4. It's a shame they didn't put the dog, cat and horse death details in 4 (it just shows how inferior those packs were compared to past games as well as Cottage Living which is the main one with any thought put into the deaths- I don't care so much about the foxes, they're wild animals). I like the dog and cat deaths the most in 3, the animals look a little happier as they float to the portal

Children cannot die of hunger in the sims 2, 3, and 4. They are taken away by the social worker in the sims 2 and 3 and are taken away by unseen social services to safety in the sims 4.

I've been playing the Sims since it started and TS3 is my fave! BUT I HAVE NEVER NOTICED THAT HE POURS ONE OUT FOR HIS HOMIE!!!! 😅😂 Amazing.

I really like how Grim Reaper looks in Sims 4. The outfit, spiced up with modern tablet, is just so great. But when it comes to an actual gameplay, Sims 2 and 3 are better. And I give my win in that category to Sims 3, simply because of how he behaves to pets. That's just so heartwarming. So, yeah, for me, Sims 4 is a winner in appearance and outfits and Sims 3 is a winner in gameplay and behaviour.

With Everything, I feel like I enjoy creepy Grim Reaper from Sims 1 the most, mostly just for the skull alone! With Sims 2 being second best. Sims 3 is a very enjoyable one though! Sims 4 grim is just there

7:55 Fun fact! You might look at this and think old Grimmy is being disrespectful by pouring soda all over the spot where someone just died, but it’s actually quite the opposite. Pouring liquor on the site where someone is buried is seen as a sign of respect known as “libation for the dead” or “pouring one out”. They just obviously they can’t do it with actual liquor since this is a T rated game.

I love stuff like the hula zombies, and the sim shaking hands with Grimm. He takes life but he also has a way of celebrating it. I also like stuff like his love for animals and freezer bunny charm. He honestly seems like a pretty sweet guy once you get to know him.

I love how many of us were so tickled by the Ding Dong Ditch. Thank you for adding it, I hadn't ever seen it before! Also laughed about visiting the manor and that it's just neighborly to ressurect

his design is probably my favorite. I like that this and the sims 3 Reaper ,hugs and basically is nice to pets before they die. I know that the death of pets in sims 4 is more realistic but c'mon! I have a very soft heart for animals especially for cats. I have way too much deaths of my cats irl ,I dont want to be also reminded of that in the game :c

I think the plumbob on his outfit is a good fit since plumbobs are kinda sims's live spawn (did I said that right?) Also the sound when he spawns is so thrilling. It really makes you feel as if "yeah ,I definitly gonna die. Oh shit.."
sims 4:
I like the effect + his accesories like the book on his outfit. Its also nice to see more things he is looking on his tablet compared to the sims 2 (WHY HE ONLY HUGGED SOME OF THE ANIMALS :((() )
so imo the winner is sims 3 Reaper :D

Sims 3 the OG Grim Reaper

In Sims 3, I once saw the grim reaper take a unicorn that was ina a park. It was epic!!!

I had a legacy challenge where my sims had a farm with evil chickens.
Thing is, it was short lifespan, the chickens kept breeding, and my household would usually have like 5+ Sims per generation.
Safe to say, I've got some interesting screenshots and had to either leave the lot when sims died or stop their help 😂😅

The Sims 1 Reaper is my favorite, simply because it's the scariest.
I love hula dancers in The Sims 2! So happy to see them when they appear. Also, the guessing game is better imo.
In The Sims 3, I love the music when the Reaper appears and the horse death animation.
The Sims 4 - meh.

18:50 I think you only get that message if they die in short succession. If, say, Sim 1 died of old age and Sim 2 died from sickness, you get the usual "alas, the last playable Sim has died" message.

I HATE the Grim Reaper in Sims 4 down to deepest core of my heart. They are supposed to be scary, like what is that freezer bunny hanging from his cloak for?!! I hate how everything has to be child friendly in his design.

I've only played against the Reaper for a Sims' life once. Jack played for the life of his adoptive brother, but he lost. He was later resurrected anyway through Ambrosia, but he was different. (Damn Mummy's curse).

Think there's something cool and special about all of these, for the first it's the skulls when he exits, the second one imo has the best and creepiest design, the third has the best entry and the fourth has this special death tablet 👻
