Bill Burr is just terrific, he's so on point this whole interview.

He's awesome, but no, he's not on many of his points.
Except for the whole thing about the Patriots being horrible right before Belichick came aboard. No, they weren't. Not right before. Carroll fielded decent teams and was fired after an 8-8 season. Parcells was there before him and took them to the Super Bowl. Bledsoe was there throughout both tenures and provided quality QB play yet he struggled under Belichick.
He will be fired (or forced resignation) if they have a significant losing season which they are in the midst of having. They are only one loss away from a losing season (2-8) and will be lucky to have 5 wins this season. Belichick didn't reinvent anything and wasn't ever a brilliant Head Coach. He's a mediocre Head Coach and Brilliant Defensive Coordinator who was made to look better due to the consistent play of Tom Brady regardless of who his targets were. Of course, when his targets were better his stats were at the top of the league. When they weren't, they still won consistently and his stats were great.
Belichick is a sub .500 head coach without Brady.
@@razorbeard6970it’s nice that you can read stats online and say they weren’t terrible, but anyone who knows what things were like then knows that they were talked about in the same way that the jets are talked about now.
@@KinnuSingh I remember how they scored the pick to get Bledsoe. After he was there they steadily improved until the Super Bowl and stayed competitive under Carroll. I just disagree with a narrative they were terrible right before Belichick as if they didn't run through quality head coaching talent and success right before him.
As a regular listener of Monday Morning Podcast, I'm very impressed at Bill's ability to refrain from f-bombs.

I'm not a Belichick fan, but I agree, he has earned a decade worth of bad seasons.

Bill kills in any venue. Saw him at a quasi-outdoor pavilion amphitheater venue awhile back. Big crowd, he still killed. Bill Burr’s energy and delivery is so unique. Even though he surely had prepared material, he could suddenly go on a tangent off topic, then do a little crowd work, and then land the plane and find his and way back into the groove. Yeah, he’s a standup worth seeing live.
Bill is a great interview, loved every minute of that. Nice job Rich.

I am glad Pats fans are giving credit to Bill and their preparation for SB 49. A 1000%! I cannot love that segment enough. Everyone goes on about Lynch running the ball in, when he failed at that 6 times out of 6 that season. And they think out of all the permutations which could have happened, Bill and Patricia have not prepared for that scenario? So stupid, man...
The Seahawks were lucky to even be that close. Malcolm Butler had broken up the pass but the ball still landed in Jermaine Kearse’s hands. People forgot all about that play. The Seahawks would have still been about 35-40 yards without a lucky as hell catch.
@@crowtservo Whilst I hear you on the "fortituousness" of that catch, I don't know if I agree with simply looking at the one play and not speaking about how all the other plays in the game contributed to that moment. As an example, Brady played against an LOB which was not fully fit but at the height of its powers. How could you not attribute that to good fortune over the course of that game?
But he fails to bring up that Bill lost them a Super Bowl by letting his ego get in the way and Benching Butler for a whole game. The same player that literally won Bill a Super Bowl, and I get discipline but he really screwed that one up

I would totally listen to the NFL football broadcast if CBS or FOX hired Bill to be a commentator in the broadcast booth. Bill knows sports extremely well, is very well informed, and of course, Bill is Bill, which would add so many laughs to the broadcast instead of boring, monotone NFL broadcasters who couldn't say something genuinely funny if their life depended on it. Not that NFL broadcasts need to be a laugh riot. But a few scattered chuckles here and there by someone who is a MASTER at it, IMO, would make listening that much more fun.
