For decades, diverse storytellers have been telling millions of stories in The Sims, inspired by their own lives and limitless creativity. Now, the competition is underway as twelve Simmers take on timed creativity challenges to build characters, worlds, and stories in the hopes of impressing the judges-and winning the $100,000 prize.

It doesn't really change the fact that neither EA nor Maxis are TV producers. And since many players are dissatisfied with the current product they're making, as in The Sims 4 and dlcs, taking on a side project seems like the waste of focus and resources, when the game is lacking in so many ways.

If you have that many people that are clearly dissatisfied with your product, you shouldn't shift focus and then decide to take on a completely new product at the same time. Maxis says no. You can't have what you want, but you will pay for what you don't. This is how they lost SimCity.
Guess what, the ea team is working on that and more because the teams working on all the separate parts of ts4 like bugs, packs, base game, updates, advertising, customer service, etc are separate, don't be needy, they're two separate teams, this team had nothing to do with working on the Sims game. I find the sims community extremely annoying sometimes for THIS very reason. Besides. They just released eco lifestyle not that long ago and have already been working on the knitting stuff pack. Be patient. They're actually pretty freaking quick with releasing new content, especially compared to other games. You don't know why its taken so long for those things to be in the game any way, it could be incredibly difficult.

@@FB792 the network pays them to pick up the show they're proposing, they're not losing money from that. The cost of production and the prize money will be covered by what the network paid to EA, Buzzfeed or whoever made it.

@@simmytime 3 years later and my pets are still starving even though the pet bowls are full and they run away if I don't pet them for 1 day. Oh yeah and I had a vet business and my workers randomly stopped showing to work one day so I was forced to sell it. My pets have never starved in the Sims 1 from like 1999, so maybe they should just recycle some of the coding from 20 years ago since it was seemingly better?

Honestly I’d rather see the modders who CARRY THIS GAME receive the attention rather than game-changers. Because modders are the ones who actually change the game. And without their hard work and dedication, the Sims 4 would be unplayable.

this is honestly embarrassing. you see the comments, we want a BETTER GAME. not some stupid and (very obviously) scripted reality show. give us new free content, make this game interesting again. i used to admire sims and it was my favorite game when i was younger but now all i see it as a copy of all the others with slight improvements, and if you want any good content you need to buy it from money hungry creators.
Funny thing too is that sims 4 is actually worse than sims 3. Took out cars, open world, like 5 different careers, expansion packs that were in sims 3 only have a quarter of content of what they once were (I’m so disappointed with the “supernatural” and island living, babies now literally are created to waste space, less NPCS.

@@mari0182 I said the same thing! It’s a downgrade for sure. I miss the cars, resorts, more lot space, open world, traveling to other countries, etc. An upgrade is keeping what works then add stuff. They got the graphics right but not the content. I don’t play 4 a lot. Sometimes I play 2 &3.
Naomi Wright Omg, I was so MAD when I found out they took out the resorts in Island Living. The reason it’s my least favorite expansion pack is because it felt like a spit in my face when compared to how it used to be.
The lots are honestly a joke. The only map with enough residential lots is something you have to buy to play it and it comes empty. Strangerville literally only had TWO houses. Not to be that person but Sims 3 gave you that without you having to throw money in EA’s face.
@@mari0182 sims 3 had a lot more free content than sims 4 does, just because they want money. honestly, i'd go back to sims 3 if it weren't for the graphics. i just think sims 4 looks better, and its more fun with custom content in my opinion. also, the terrifying glitches that came with the animals. hated that.

EA makes $300-400 million a year in revenue from The Sims 4. $100k is absolutely nothing for them.
@@FB792 What cost? This is not a commercial in which case you need to pay to put it on TV. This is an actual show that TBS has paid to air on their network (and TBS will make its money back because the show will be aired with commercials).

Just remaster Sims 3 with the graphics and character customization of 4, and all of the expansions, and I guarantee people will pay $60 dollars for it.
i currently have half of the expansion packs and I would pay close to $80 if they did this, even with all of the packs that ive already purchased.

How are they going to create stories when they don't have any kind of story telling/lore/memories/necessities/things we should have, etc. in the game??????? Make it make sense.
I mean me personally I just make up a random story for my sims or right their backstory and stuff in their description, but yeah I get what you mean.
@@angeL_ocracy me too but it's also hard to truly create those stories when the sims don't have memories like they did in previous games, they don't have Sims listed as in-laws which makes it hard for family trees and legacies since they don't acknowledge or recognize extended family as they once did. I definitely miss the drama and game play features we had in previous games. Like you said, you write stories and stuff in a households description, idk if you played the sims 2 or not but I loved how whatever was written in a households description would be where you started out in that household. It just sucks we don't have that stuff rn 😔 but like you said I'll settle for making them up on my own.
I miss the thing in the Sims 2 where they had memories of events. Been disappointed the last two games they failed to do something similar......... :(

When I first got the Sims 4 (which was my first game in the Sims series) I was expecting some amazing game because I watched so many Sims videos. Little did I know that was all mods and cc. The Sims 4 would be terrible without the community. Don’t get me started on the base clothing you get in base games and packs 😫. Thank God we have mod creators.
Why bother fixing the bugs or adding important base gameplay when you can highlight the flaws on national TV. I see this as another epic fail on Maxis/EA's part.

I honestly am amazed that I’ve played this game for 17 years and each year I hate EA more and more. I want to see people like me that have been here since the start get rewarded. EA hates older players, and making content when players want it. 4 year wait for seasons thanks so much. So 100k for a story and a build? Really? How about some respect for the players and make better content?
They already give every one of these creators benefits through sponsorships and free stuff. Plus each of these creators make money off their game as is. It feels like the sims team are losing appreciation for their true audience and are focusing on what the handful of people they suck up to want. Thing we need and want:
- better sibling relationship ( actually arguing with your sibling, sharing, playing with them, fighting, giving advices, discuss boy drama, steal each others stuff and babysit if your sibling is younger)
- better babies
-school gameplay (actually going to school, making projects for a talent show, getting a detention and getting in trouble, studying, sneaking out from class...)
- more animals, farms ( farm animals, unique animals, unusal animals)
- vacations ( packing a suitcase going to the airport and getting on a dream vacation in New York, Paris, London and much more...)
- teen drama ( teens don't have any gameplay, they are just adults that can't start a family yet, we need teen drama like getting excited about a boy and crying over him, having a crush, picking a prom dress for a prom that you are going to with a guy who asked you out in school, dances, selfies, concerts, sneaking out, joining a gang with the bad squad...)
- better elders ( walkers, nursing homes for older ppl, golf, doctor appointments, babysitting their grandchildren and being included in their events and lifes-like parents should be)
- more personality ( being sad and dramatic after a breakup, sassy behavior, feeling happy after getting something you wanted, being selfish, being caring, really liking little kids and babysitting them)
- more traits ( kid lover, bad girl/boy, gang leader, sassy queen/king, caring, selfish, internet addicted, maybe sime sims can have health issues they can't see, hear, sniff, walk, talk...)
- unexpected events (being asked to a dance, aliens knocking on your door, principal wanting to have a talk about their children, scouts selling cookies...)
- more events ( dances, graduation party, prom, toddler playdates, school moms meetings, children's ballet shows, sport compatitions, school project show off, sleepovers...)
- more creatures ( imaginary friends, elfs, fairies, princesses, living statues, butterflies...)
- cars that sims can actually drive
- activities for children ( something fun to do after school, like ballet, karate, football, baseball, gymnastics, selling cookies...)
- more romantic gameplay ( it's always the same, find a random sim in the park, speed everything up to get married and start a family since there are no couple activities at all, sims age too soon and while expanding your couple relationship they get too old for everything, that's why having a teen relationship would help)
- more characters that are not included in our households and families (postman bringing you mail, scouts selling cookies, inspectors, children randomly. knocking on your door...)
- more open worlds
- sims need to age slower, adults can't be a couple without speeding their relationship up bc they get too old to start a family and have kids, grandparents can't see their children grow up bc they die too soon, toddlers are the only generation that's alright and doesn't need to change and toddlers age up the fastest
Sims community: All we ask is that y'all make quality content that expands on the games already lacking assets.

When I saw the announcement about this on the homepage I thought it was an expansion pack...where you could like do a sims reality show 🙄🙄 I was so freaking excited.

Glad I stopped at Sims 3
I'm pretty grossed out that I probably spent just about that much on a game that by all rights isn't and never will be finished. Personally I'm a legacy simmer, so having all of these features introduced that I hadn't used in past legacies takes me out of the game play. Don't get me wrong, I love updates to games that need it; but throwing a whole new concept of life in the middle of a drawn out legacy family really takes away from the game play I though the Sims was aiming for. For example, the laundry pack. OK. Here, let me update every home in TS4 to have a laundry room/area solely for this one family's world I'm playing in at this moment so that everything in the world is cohesive. Quite honestly, it's exhausting. So EA, you're great. Luv u so much. The best by far!

@@katie5920 EA using the gurus as a PR team is shitty of them as a company first of all, and second of all I don't mean just interacting with fans when I say 'pay attention to'. I'm talking about things like this, decisions by THE COMPANY. Nothing to do with gurus in any way. Even if I have problems with them sometimes I know that the way the franchise is run comes down to EA being trash
