How in the fuck
This man had a legit spiritual awakening. While the others got off the capsule cheering & celebrating, Bill was collecting himself & trying to make sense of the profound realization he just experienced. While the others were playing like children in weightlessness, Shatner was looking out the port window looking at life & death squarely in the eye and it was overwhelming. He had a soul-shattering moment where he saw the fragility & preciousness of life and what a sacred, living thing our planet is.

@@Slambam73 I just think someone of William's age is much more likely to have an awakening because he has been around for so long and probably thought he had seen and experienced everything that he ever would in his lifetime, so I can imagine it was enlightening to have this new kind of experience at 90 years old, in particular because almost no one else on earth has had the same experience so far. 😆 I love how Bezos was the one asking about how it would change him, but so far Shatner seems to be the only one of them who's been emotionally mature enough to have a moment- stopping, life- changing experience. And he's realistic enough to understand that there's a difference between them and astronauts who train long hours and spend months at a time in space.
Yeah I was just thinking of the best analogy is the difference between a Pilot and Passenger on a plane. Both are up in the air for hours but the Pilot went through months of training to become a Pilot. The passenger just bought a ticket.

I saw the other passengers exiting the craft and immediately being approached and hugged by other people. I saw Mr. Shatner just standing there alone. It broke my heart. I would not think he's 90 years old. I would think he's in his 70s. Most people would lose their head to Dementia or Alzheimer's after 80. He's not even walking with a cane! Shatner was at a sci fi convention that I was attending. The audience was on the verge of rioting because the electricity had gone out, but the charismatic Shatner ran to the center of the stage and barked orders at everyone, which they obeyed to the letter just as happened on Star Trek. It became so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. He is a natural leader in real life.

I've been a Trekkie since TNG was originally on-air. I also have direct knowledge (via a friend) of Shatner's past insatiable libido - no judgment, just a fact.
I've got to say, watching Shatner moved to such PROFOUND humility after this experience immediately brought to mind the scene where Ensign Ro (Michelle Forbes' character in TNG) has a moment with Geordi (LeVar Burton) after they had been rescued from having been "cloaked" (in TNG S5E24 The Next Phase). She talked about being out of phase as though she had a glimpse into being dead, and gained a whole new appreciation for life.
It's ironic that in part Star Trek fueled my interest in physics and science which allowed me to develop that sense of awe from an early age, but that one of the actors who drove the franchise from generation to generation finally gets this same awareness from actually doing what he purported to do in the show for all those years.
Grateful to finally have him on board advocating for our planet.
