You got that right. I was so stressed out. Then I watched Hamilton. It was such a beautiful escape that I watched it again and again, 37 times over the next month-and-a-half.
The talent is mind blowing. Truly the best thing that came out of that year.
My husband thinks that my daughter and I won’t even want to watch Hamilton on Disney+ because all we do is listen to and sing Hamilton all day!! Boy is he wrong! Lol

I watched the tutorial, but I also saw the show twice live, pay for Disney+ and will buy the DVD when it comes out. I happily donate my ticket and merch price credit to someone who can’t make it to the show so they can watch slime guilt free. 🤗

It takes someone of Lin's caliber to take the concept of "Alexander Hamilton is the embodiment of the soul of hip-hop" and turn "grow into a phenomenon" into an understatement in the process. The 2009 video certainly sparked the appetite, with Michelle Obama snapping along early and Barack leading the standing ovation.
And at the end of that White House performance there was this standing ovation thing... ;)
Lin is right. I saw his performance in 2009 and thought it was a joke. An articulate one, but a spoof nonetheless. I'm glad my first impression was incorrect.

Why do people freak out so much about Hamilton? Seriously, I haven't seen it yet, but everywhere Lin Manuel is there's always comments about people dying over him and Hamilton, and how that was absolutely life changing
It’s something you kinda just have to listen to or experience in order to get it. Like all works of art, it’s somewhat difficult to explain, but it’s really just an excellently made history musical with appealing music, phenomenal lyrics, incredibly engaging storytelling, and fascinating themes. Maybe you’ll get it if you see it, maybe you won’t, but the most basic explanation as to why it gets so much hype is really just cuz it’s good.
Because it's a work of art, next question 😆
But seriously, it may sound odd at first but Hamilton is beautiful written, beautiful performed, and tells an amazing story. You really have to see it to understand.
It's probably the only reason I will get sucked in to the disney thing.
