@@tsukkigakirei the concert was 2.5 hours. I had to buy V coins (the currency on the Beyond live app) I think it was around $50 US. The 1st telecast had a fan interaction at the end that delayed telecasts didn’t have. It also had subtitles. But the whole show had interactions with fans a few times over the show. Really good.

Just watching the background sometimes does that to me too so I try to just focus on the artists

@@haiky8104 lol everyone says SM sucks at managing their idols and yet when SM idol makes a comeback there's many promotional videos and they show up on many variety shows. Also, even many older SM artists are still coming back with new albums and still being active, meanwhile other companies throw their old artists in the dungeon, never to be heard from again. SM may not be perfect , but it still does more for their artists than most of the other companies.
@@haiky8104 nah SM have improved a lot in their idol management since last few years and all the backlashes they got in the early 2010's. If you gonna have to blame a company for bad idol management and nipping artists creativity it's JYPE. It's not a musical company but a jail for the artists I swear..
@@haiky8104 I think they're comparatively better at managing their idols (like training, comebacks, promotions etc) compared to other companies and the past, but they're somewhat worse at protecting them (as in public statements and dealing with sasaengs)

I'm from the USA and KPop is a lot more popular here than a lot of eastern countries realize. KPop is SO MUCH BETTER than most western music because of the entire performance value - the groups are so multi-talented with singing and hard choreo. Also KPop artists really pay attention to and care for their fan bases (I'm ult shawol, plus Army, EXO-L, ELF, etc..). Western artists are meh in this regard. I wish SM, Big Hit, and the other entertainment agencies would realize how much they have to gain by touring the US (and other countries) more extensively. That's IF the artists wanted to come here, of course. Taeminnie, we will miss you. Come back safe!
@R. Tolmach Beautifully said, you are a thoughtful and eloquent writer. I'm on the cusp of Boomer/Gen X so I grew up listening to the American pop sounds of the 1970s and 80s, which hold a lot of similarities to much of K-Pop. The only thing I dislike about the actual K-Pop content (as opposed to the business end) is how the female groups are relegated to simplistic choreo. I'm glad 4th and 5th gen groups are slowly changing this, along with the insistence from some male groups (and solos) that the females dance the hard choreo as well. I wish you much success in life -- seems no doubt you will reach your dreams and goals. :)

I think they knew the SHINee comeback was the most anticipated. They also have a strong international fanbase. Clearly SM knew what they were doing. Probably made a killing. It was totally worth it though & I’m glad I attended!

Just saw yesterday...few years old sheet of Artists line up Who's about to perform in the year end awards shows...the only Artists among the participants who lipsync (originally as live AR which means pre recorded live vocal basically lipsync) is all from SM Artists which are exo nct redvelvet twice n shinee astro n solo Artists like chunga rtc...not saying they can't sing live but they didn't sing live...among the lists who sang live that is MR(singing live with backing vocal n music playing background) those Artists are itzy txt mamamoo ateez BTS stay kids etc....
@@hitzthompson1484 They do - but Twice, Astro or Chunga are not from SM Ent. . I wonder why they insisted so much on LAR since the beginning of the pandemic on music show or end of the year performances - Aespa lypsincing for Forever was a disappointing decision.
The only conclusion that I have is that their logic are:
the public is paying for music show --> the performances are live (all the groups you listed from SM Ent. had live performances on music show before the pandemic).
There is no public paying during the pandemic --> the performance are not live
Fans are paying us (not intermediaries) for Online concert --> the performances are live.
Btw, for the award shows at the end of the day, the only performance that I saw without havely edited vocals was Jessi's. Even if the groups performed lived, the vocals were edited (particularly true for BigHit Ent.) or the backtrack were loud (particularly true for JYP Ent.).

This video just shows how advanced and smart the kpop industry is. The western industry just makes normal livestreams while the kpop industry is going out of their ways to make something that’s out of the world. That’s why we love kpop and no wonder its getting bigger and bigger everyday.

As much as innovative the technology is, that would be nothing if the performers don't keep up with. This is SHINee, a 13 year old group who has never stopped being the best performers. So give praise where it's due. SHINee’s beyond live was absolutely outstanding thanks to their talent and artistry.

I really appreciate SHINee doing Beyond Live concert because it feels like the best way to reach out to us during the pandemic but i also hope we can be at in person concert soon.

You can say all you want about SM Entertainment but they're definitely the innovators and leaders towards the betterment of the K-pop industry. Ever since H.O.T and BoA, the company's always been about "what more can I add to the value of this industry?"

Honestly nothing can replace the adrenaline and excitement of a live concert but the Beyond Live style of online concert really helps to fill the gap and reach out to audiences who might never have an opportunity to ever see groups like SHINee perform. It is still an amazing and fun experience and the engagement with fans helps to make it feel a little more like an in-person concert.

it was SM's free concert at the beginning of the year which allowed me to see SHINee and the entire SM pantheon for free on youtube!! Plus I live in the caribbean so you already know the struggles of being an international fan
If you want to know more about SHINee, you can stream their new music video "Don't call me" and "Atlantis". Both songs are totally different ( SHINee is an experimental group and have done various genre ) but they're also really good and addictive. Now enjoy !!!

hmm Heard both the songs, they're decent pop trap ballads with dont call me being predominantly trap and atlantis having acoustic guitar followed by a trap breakdown. Its not experimental. pop trap is not experimental as its one of the most popular genres right now. Experimental music is music that is boundary pushing and not music that follows the norm. That being said the two songs u recommended are good in their own right. If u want to listen to actual experimental artists I would recommend JPEGMAFIA, Ecco2k, SOPHIE, James Blake, Death Grips, Rina Sawayama, 100 gecs and a slew of hyperpop artists..
@@unamedunamed7384 what they meant by saying experimental was, that they bring different concepts in KPOP. They didn't mean this concept was new, they said both of the songs Atlantis and Don't Call Me are different from each other.
Experimental is their concept ever since, music included, not about just these songs.
They brought deep house into Kpop in 2015 along with Fx.
They brought the concept of Dance Practice videos in KPOP

The intricate choroes are expected in kpop and have been normalised because SHINee did introduce them in early 2010s.
The Og comment did not mention that these songs are experimental, they just meant SHINee was introduced as an experimental group in 2008.

shinee's beyond live was the most expensive but it was the most well-produced show yet - stunning AR stages, the first Beyond Live to incorporate a live band, and seamless transitions in between songs. SHINee did so well in showing how future online shows should be executed.
I wish for a time where we can all shout in concert halls again

Shinee concerts are honestly another level. They’re called Kings of live performances for a reason. They own the stage and the song instead of letting themselves be swallowed by their dancers / fancy stage/ choreo. Everytime I watch shinee perform after other groups I’m so incredibly proud because Michael Jackson is really calling from the upper echelons
This WSJ feature got me rewatching SuperM and Shinee’s Beyond Live Concerts! I don’t mind spending a little extra for quality production and artists like them :-) Honestly, the beyond live concept started by this kpop agency, SM Entertainment, is undeniably genius. :-)

I attended this SHINee’s Beyond Live Concert and I was so impressed with the production and how they executed the show. It was worth every penny! The technology is so advanced and I really hope others take note on what they’re doing. Not only did the show record the group as a whole, they provide multi-cam option of each members of the group. Additionally, they provided delay streaming at later dates to rewatch again. Funny enough, there’s a delay streaming tonight and I’ll surely be in attendance to watch.
Thank you very much Wall Street Journal for recognizing this 14-year old group and to watch this makes our heart flutter. It is very informative and reaches the heart of every Shinee fan worldwide. I hope all Kpop groups from small companies and others can do this as well for their fans. Let's all be happy and safe during this pandemic. ♥
It is so nice to see SHINee outside of Asian press and media, their concert was over the top for real, SM really is doing things right with these amazing tech proposals for digital concerts.
Despite SM's many shortcomings when it comes to managing and protecting its artists and in other aspects, one still has to give credit where credit is due. The agency still stays the most innovative out of its other competitors, and its creation of Beyond Live concerts will inevitably set a new trend for the concert industry in the years to come.
These are one of the moments I’m thankful for SMTown! Shinee’s concert was amazing!!

Actually I think that BTS sold theirs for $55 dollars for their basic tickets and $90 for their two day pass. Still $40 is quite a lot of money for a virtual concert. Kpop is honestly starting to get ahead in the music industry and the US should take notes

Shinee was no more expensive than the other Beyond Live concerts. The first ones in April and May of 2020, were about 27$, but the quality wasn't quite as good. Once they updated the tech, they have all been 43$. Except for New Year's Eve, which was free.

I’m watching this preparing to watch SHINee’s Beyond Live delayed streaming. This concert was absolutely spectacular! SHINee’s performance itself plus all additional effects plus all the Shawols cheering and those wonderful interactions - it’s just a one of a kind experience! And Taemin, my prince, yes I feel you! I miss traveling too... I can’t wait for your Beyond Live solo concert!!!
I admire Shinee’s creative performances. I love the idea of incorporating live band in that concert. I love that they flawlessly sing live with difficult dance choreo. They’re amazing! :-)

some people don't get how big shinee's concert was for a lot of fans. shinee doesn't do world tours every year like many other groups. many shawol have never had a chance to see shinee live...after being a fan for 14 years! so this was huge! i really appreciate seeing shinee world concert in my home for a fraction of the in person concert price.
Just in case any armys got lost and ended up here, Super M had the first concert in April 2020 before anyone else.
Super M is a group co-managed by SM and of which Taemin (featured in this video in his group Shinee) is also a member.
So yes, they did it first.

@@danakim4314 well their faves didn’t pave the way for this. I saw the first ever Beyond Live concert which was Super M coz my sister in law is a fan. So whatever they say, their faves didn’t do it first. Yes they are the worst fandom. I like the said group & some of their music. (Mostly their early stuff. They are too commercial now) But I no longer follow anything they do, coz I can’t stand their ignorant toxic fans.

Hahaha I also like some previous ballad/slow songs of that group but some of their songs sounds so inorganic. I also adore 2 members before. But after discovering and witnessing how toxic their Fandom is I just suddenly lost my interest. Like they would always claim literally everything other group does. Hahaha I'm just so happy that the SHAWOLs are very much matured.

SM stans really won when SM held SMTOWN Live Culture Humanity concert last year. I mean we got to see *SO MANY* artists back to back *AND FOR FREE.* Even the DJs from ScreaM label got to perform and took over the encore. And we also got to hear the new rendition for Hope and a cute wholesome new mv with it
SM Entertainment does it better than anyone.
Yeah, if you like to see their world-class group reduced to just another cog in a special effects extravaganza. They do not trust their artists to delilver incrediably exciting performances -- which they most certainly CAN - and so they bury them under a titlte wave of special effects. disgusting

Now people can see how relevant and different SM Entertainment is. I think around 2012, people are laughing LSM and critizing him for being so obsessed with technology. Years later, he proved them wrong. I know SM is not the best company but you can't deny that SM has the best artists in the Kpop industry, trendsetter, blue print of kpop and always one step ahead.

Now I know why I love Shinee... Among the kpop groups I’ve seen so far, Onew is the best vocalist, Taemin is the best dancer, Minho is the most charismatic, and Key is an influential fashion icon. Don’t know much about Jonghyun, but based on some articles, he is one of kpop’s best lyricists. Shinee is an amazing group, indeed! :-)

Like SHINee concert tickets were the costliest for any SM group, I ain't complaining it's WORTH IT, and they brought in like 130K viewers like the second most after NCT who are like 23 people, and here are 4 men bringing so many viewers even after 13 years of their debut, I LOVE THEM💙!! NOBODY IS DOING IT LIKE SHINee, cause they just can't do it like them!!

SHINee's beyond live concert was my first concert (Relatively New fan from South America) and I was mesmerized, the technology was top notch. SK's technology and entertainment industry is definitely one of the best, hopefully this will bring more respect from people who thinks K-Pop isn't a worthy genre

SHINee beyond live ticket was the most expensive ticket out of all SM Beyond Live concert tickets so far. Even so, the ticket sales was very good. SHINee is the best when it comes to live performances. Everyone was waiting to see them, and they did not disappoint.

I brought the ticket and it was well worth it. I was able to watch from the comfort of my living room and watch it more than once if I wanted to. They had replays so if you couldn’t catch it when it aired, you had another chance. They were amazing and you can tell they gave their all. 💕
