It’s always a good option to keep some gold. Well with the current market situation and everything at stake with the present economy, I’d say you’re better off staying away from stocks fr awhile or better still reach out to an adviser for guidance.

Gold isn't volatile. The trading on gold can become volatile if traders see it as a way of making quick money. But, as currencies around the world are devalued by over-printing, gold will hold firm in the long run and continue to be the stable hedge it has been for centuries.

Gold isn’t an investment, it’s insurance. That’s why it spikes in times of peril but stagnates in times of abundance over other assets.
It has a lot of history and it’s hedged against a physical asset which gives it a more “tangible” appeal similar to real estate because it’s an actual thing not just a number on a screen

Buy gold at the start of 2023. The U.S. dollar index (dxy indes) will drop from 103 to 74 as hyperinflation rages. Don't get suckered in because they'll claim inflation is falling coming into the midterm elections only to have it reaccelerate into hyperinflation in 2023.
You aren't tested until a company you own and believe in is down 30-40-50% from its highs. You will question your conviction, your strategy, your process. The market has a way of finding your breaking point. Nothing tests your conviction like falling stock prices.
The key is knowing what you own and getting the best price possible. Falling prices give you the opportunity to lower your average cost. It’s a gift.
The deeper the correction the greater the chances of new positions and hence clarifications.
These days the best way to come into the market space is with patience and seeking guidance when necessary. For instance, due to the nature of my job, I can’t handle my portfolio so I just copy the market picks of ''Nicole Ann Sabin'', an Advisor i saw on Bloomberg business news. It’s been smooth since then. I have saved myself all the hassle that chaotic market causes.

Jason Smith The fact that China & Russia have both been madly amassing the stuff for the past 20 years is reason enough for any intelligent person to take a 2nd look. Especially when between the two nations they hold almost 2 trillion dollars of US debt, and recently agreed to begin trading with each other WITHOUT using the US greenback as their reserve currency. Russia is beginning to completely turn its back on the USD, and is now using the Euro as their exchange currency. With the way the US Fed is printing $$ and the US Treasury is buying junk bonds and stock market offerings, how long do you think it’ll be before other nations lose faith in the dollar & follow suit? If the US loses its reserve currency status (and god knows, they deserve to), the nation will never recover.

Coming to your question, volatility in general defined as measure of change. It doesn't take into account if prices are going up or down. Gold has been raising since ages. Maybe that's why they are saying gold is volatile.

It isnt that volatile. It has been between $1300 to $2000 last ten years. I think it would be wise to have an emergency fund of six months to year expenses in precious metals if possible. Just in case, hyperinflation occurs in one's country like what happened in Argentia.

I notice when gold is doing well its labelled as being volatile (and thus dangerous to invest in). But when the DOW drops 800 points its just a minor correction and is still a perfectly safe investment. Gold is always attacked because it is a bet against central banks and the banker boys what the sheep in their game and in over valued stocks. If you invest in Gold, invest in physical not ETFs or other paper derivatives, because that's all they are... highly leveraged worthless paper

This video doesn't address inflation and how much money has been printed on a global scale this year. Our dollar is becoming worthless and with interest rates so low why bother keeping our money with banks? Just remember gold and silver were around before us and it'll be around after we're gone. @Cloud Even if the monetary base is doubled, it doesn't mean purchasing power is halved. Central banks can increase monetary base, but not broad base, where inflation happens. In addition, the beauty of fiat money is that purchasing power is based on confidence, not money supply.

This is by far the dumbest analysis I have ever ever seen from WSJ. The value of gold is constant. It has been constant for thousands of years. Every single currency in history, and there have been thousands, have ended up going to a value of zero. If you are looking at the “price” of gold as compared to the US dollar, the volatility is that of the dollar. Not gold.
That's also why central banks hold gold just to "hedge" the currency. Fiat money's intrinsic value is zero.

How about gold bar?its ok for invesment?
The report did not even mention the US dollars and notably the USD index. Also gave the false idea that gold kept going up since mid March. Gold did not move much for two months from mid April to mid June. So the "explanations" for some reasons did not make gold rise but only after mid June. Don't get fooled by this.
