- So when we're little kids in the West, this is what we hear growing up. Some of my Korean friends have never even heard of this story before, so I went ahead and took the time to explain it haha. Are there any international viewers who have a story in their own country? Let me know :)

In the philippines, when you ask your parents where did i came from, the gonna repile, "we just picked you up from a trash can" or in my case, "we found you in the poop of the cow"

In my country, we're never actually ask where we came from, but when we act bad our parents will told us that they're gonna return us to under the bridge, or to a trash can, which is where they picked us out before :'v

Your response is why parents lie, and make it some impossible tale. If you say sex, a kid will think "screw baby dolls, I know how to get a real one" tada teen/tween pregnancy. Although, with television ads for shows, condoms and pills, I suspect kids get the picture at age four.
Rei Elric well, I WAS four lol. Or maybe six. If a kid is a teen or tween I should hope their parents would tell them the real thing by then. It’s more that having three year olds running around blabbing about it like they do about ANY new thing they learn would be awkward 😂

내가 사는 지역에서는 똥다리 밑에서 주워 왔다고 하는데
크고 보니깐 똥이 아니라 동다리 였음 동쪽 다리.
예전 조선 시대때 기방이 모여 있던 지역이 있는데 그곳을 갈려면 동다리를 지나 가야 했음
그곳에 선비들과 기생들의 사생아를 동다리 밑에 버리는 풍습? 그런게 많았음.
그래서 불임 부부들이 그쪽에서 기다리다 아이 버리는 기생이 있으면 자신들이 대리고 와서 키웠다고 윗 어른들이 말씀하심.

In France, boys come from cabbage and girls from roses.
The stork story is used too.

The rose is also made up of multiple petals placed on top of each other, moreover the Rose has been associated with women and femininity since Antiquity.
It is therefore for this reason that girls are born in roses and boys in cabbages. - That's what Google says 😅

@@chloerohan It depends of some parents. Google even says that it is a story existing in the Europe Occidental so I'm not wrong. My own parents told me this story (well they told me about the real way too but that's to extrapolate)
I asked my mum when I was little and she just straight up told me, and then I was THAT kid that broke it to everyone at school lololol

It was easy for me to explain to my kids. We raised animals so breeding and birthing happened with enough frequency I just had to say "you were born just like the animals are".

I took the baby conversation pretty well at six years old.
Andersen did write the story, but one must not forget he travelled across Europe to collect folkloric tales. In other words, the story already existed, he was just the first well know author to write it down

In my country (I’m pretty sure that in all post-USSR countries too) we also use this story about storks. However we have another version which says that children are found in the cabbage 🥬😂😂😂

In the Netherlands, it (was) common to say that children grew from red cabbage or cauliflower, on the land. I'm not entirely sure WHY they say these things but they also use the Dutch word for cabbage to describe the speed at which children grow. (Apparently this is a fast speed.. Though I can only guess since I've never grown cabbage nor had kids)

In Russia or others post - soviet countries although told story that baby was found in the cabbage after rain in Thursday😅(yeah it's a common story) I think it story was made from the fairytales, or maybe I was mestaken. Anyway we have that theory too. Thank you for this video❤️👍
my mom told me that I made out of a dough so when I was 4 I made a mess in the kitchen trying to make a 'baby' cause I was the one who didn't have siblings at my class
My mom told me(when I was 9 because that's when I got my first period) that when you're in love with a boy and you hug, then a baby will be born, so its best for me to stay away from boys. I was scared😐

In my case my Italian parents told me that I was a Seed picked from the street and then Planted on the ground, like a flower ahaha.
But usually here it's used the famous story of the stork.
In Mexico we have the same story of the stork "La sigueña" it's actually very common, at least when I was a kid they used it... don't know if the still do though.
As a child of immigrant parents, and I'm sure a lot of other 1st gen immigration kids will relate to this - I was told that I was found in a dumpster 🤷🏻♀️
because of that, I often used to wonder whether I was adopted, but then parents would say no 🤷🏻♀️
My parents were always straight forward about it. Lol But I know in America there's also the "Cabbage Patch" reasoning too. Being grown and picked from a cabbage patch. I have no clue where that one came from though.

Well my parents and sister told me they were on a family trip and found me in the cabbage field. In the cabbage. :)
In Romania is also common to say that parents found us in cabbage, in garden.
I live in Brazil and the stork story is also commonly used, but more than that parents often tell their kids that their dad planted a little seed on their mom, and the seed grown and became the child later. It's very useful when the kid is also expecting a sibling, and then I don't know if the stork story would work.

I read in a book that the reason that story about the stork is said is that at some times of the year when more babies are born, there is usually an increase of those animals too.
we have the stork story as well in italy, also an alternative is “we found you under a cabbage” but my parents told me they found me at the illegal market lmao

I was thinking about what my parents told me, because I remember these stories (the stork, born from a flower,a cabbage, etc) but I also remember knowing that they were false; and that's when I realised, my parents sidestepped the whole "where do babies come from?" by showing me "once upon a time... life" before I was old enough to remember, so I always knew where babies came from, and was taught in a child friendly way too. They also sidestepped the whole puberty and sex thing this way, they gave me a book and that was that XD.
In Russia you may be found in the shop or in cabbage. Or being delivered by stork. Or just from belly. Or you are adopted.
My mom was not about the stork, or the Easter Bunny. She let me believe in Santa for awhile, but by second grade I knew he wasn't real, and I knew EXACTLY how I got here 😂. I'm grateful she didn't dance around it. I think it's much more beneficial for these questions to be answered in a safe environment by parents, than outside of the home. Maybe not everyone agrees, and that's okay, but it's good to have honest, normalized conversations about sex. Just my opinion.
