    I love how passionate Koreans are about their skincare. I feel like they’re miles ahead of the rest of the world and I really admire how seriously they approach it. It was a really interesting video and I’d love the see a part 2, thanks for the diverse content Dave.

    When you asked about the expiration of products (around 13:30) - he said you have to ask the manufacturers. But you can actually tell yourself! On the back of the product there is always a little icon/picture that looks like an open/closed container with a number inside of it. That is the amount of time the product lasts after opening. So, for example, if that number is 12 that means the product is good for a year after opening!

    • @310BPM
      @310BPM 4 년 전 +4

      yes, it has the expiration date in 'months after opening' 😊

    This is super useful!! Thanks Dave 💕It’s hard to find actual professional opinions in the torrent of skincare advise on various blogs and KRplus channels (while those are useful too) I think the most interesting new thing I learned was it’s okay to skip toner if you don’t wear heavy makeup. Definitely going to be using that tip. I wonder why skin care isn’t big in America. If middle school me had seen this video it could have reduced a lot of stress 😅
    Also does anyone have any face mask recommendations for sensitive dry skin? Preferably on the not super expensive end...cause I have little moneys

    For me, cleansing with a plain face wash, toning with something also fairly plain, using a zinc niacinamide topical gel, then moisturizing with a hydrating gel works really well. Lately I've been using Peace Out patches for acne and pores, and those have been absolutely magical. I also will use an AHA/BHA peal usually once a week or so depending on how my skin is doing. NEVER FORGET SPF!!! LOL

Through experience - and despite using soooo many different creams, lotions, moisturizers, steriod ointments and pills- literally the only way I've managed to keep my severe eczema down from flare-ups was through an elimination diet.

      100% does. Scientifically proven too. It's just that people don't like to hear it. Skin issues are mostly inflammation based. Eat crap --> you body is more inflamed.

    • @gabi18202
      @gabi18202 4 년 전 +8

      Yes, I think that's why he said it doesn't affect your skin organically. In other words, one type of fruit doesn't give your skin better elasticity and another provide skin specific moisturising. Instead, he said it is important to eat well with balance from the five nutritional groups because this helps your health and, in turn, your skin.

    Ahhhh, while I agree that people should research ingredients vs assume something is good or bad based on origin, I would also say that some certification agencies are not as strict as others. Be it lack of funding or power, there is a chance that something on the shelf could be bad. For example, there are various ingredients/additives/chemicals that are outright banned in places like South Korea or England, but the US allows usage. Also, the tests actually used to determine ban/allow or safe/not safe/technically-okay-but-we'd-rather-you-didn't may not be equivalent, even if there are 'international' testing standards available.

    • @EJK-wy3eb
      @EJK-wy3eb 4 년 전 +4

      When your skin is oily, it means it produces more sebum than needed. So over moisturizing your skin will add a coat of "oil"! You still need to moisturize it ofc. Also, this doctor is Korean and lives in Korea where people use 4/5 products at least ! He is saying to those people to use less :)

    I use it maybe four times now and it has enough left for two more ish.
    My face is super happy about it. It definitely seems ‘brighter’ and more ‘even’ than before for a couple days after and in general. Which is crazy cause how could 4 time be noticeable yeah? But I guess that’s how desperately my face needed some actual care. >..

      I'm thinking they don't quite have that problem or rather its not so common. The western, specifically the american diet, we have so many greasy foods and junk food that inflame out bodies and we see it in our skin or in aches or stomach aches... I've even heard of gall bladder attacks because a person's body can't handle lots of spicy food

    • @majocastro7734
      @majocastro7734 4 년 전

I asked the family who is hosting me and the told me that the food here it's a lot more processed. Maybe there is different and that's why the doctor said that.

    He is actually wrong, there is a ton of proof that shows too much of certain types of dairy and other foods can cause breakouts and acne. He is probably saying this because dairy and acne-causing foods aren't as available and aren't as consumed in korea as they are in the states, the UK, Australia, etc

      actually, there aren't that many alternatives to milk. like... every coffeeshop uses ONLY milk. i had a hard time in korea, because i couldn't drink coffee since i am severely allergic to milk. :( so.. i don't think it is that true. dairy just isn't used in main dishes that much!

      @@minaasdfglajs1012 there are many vegans who survive in korea. Megan Bowen for example. You can also make your own milks if you can't buy them. Also you can make coffee at home? It isn't a requirement for you to go to a coffee shop
