I have been involved in the Civil War living history hobby since 1992. If it seems events like this are dying out, politics might be one reason, but not what you might think. There are politics within the hobby that many don't really see on the surface when they attend events like this. To make it brief, and as polite as possible, in the late 90s, there was a split within the hobby where some like my group began to prefer more historically accurate events (not just something made up for the public to watch) and educational events where we interact with the public. The other camp in the hobby would be those who do not devote as much attention to historically accurate details and just want to put on a show for the public. Yes, other political issues have impacted the hobby in recent years, but events still do go on, just not in the scale they once where. You can watch this video and see that there are not many young people interested in this hobby.

Well done bro! Outstanding dedication in preserving history. Happy to see it continue, even if it's on a new field next year. It's a lot of work for sure. He's a nice and extremely passionate man.
Thanks for making this video and covering this event Adam. History is our story. The good and bad of it should always be told and taught. Lest we forget and repeat the worst of it once again. Reenactors are teachers who care so much about our past and our story that they are willing to give us a unique perspective that we cannot get from a museum or a monument or a book. They are very passionate about telling the stories of our Nation’s history and they should be commended for that. Great work on this video. 👍
