I first heard your song in january 2023. Im in the military and around this time i found out my buddy who ive been with since basic training was moving to another base. Maybe it sounds strange but this song gave me this calm mind to know that we see each other again. Even the text kinda fits since i remember the day i met him in my unit at the oak tree where we mostly meet for tasks. The first song i learned on the guitar to play it for him was this one to show him how much he means to me. We met again 1 month ago and the first song we heard together was this one. I served in the Army. I was tormented, physically and psychologically abused, to the point of trying to take my own life. I was called worthless and treated worse than dirt in an environment where I was away from friends and family, far away from home and country. The military was supposed to be a band of brothers and sisters but that wasn't the case for me. I gave 110% of my mind, body and soul but it was all for naught.
I was awesome at my job, top of my class, saved others from their depression or from killing themselves, commended for my community service but at the end of the day I was worse than trash. None of that mattered because something as simple as not being able to run. For that alone, I had no worth and no value. A stupid number on a test that had nothing to do with my job.

This line resonates with me. Despite my best efforts, the others I helped through their depression, I wasn't treated as a soldier. I was called a waste of tax payers' dollars to my face in front of others multiple times. Humiliated, belittled and looked down upon. I was continuously called worthless and treated with distain. I was lost, alone and felt like there was nothing left. Luckily, I got out and was given a honorable discharge after an investigation was held against my abusers. It took me a long time to recover from that, in some ways I still am.
This song, and ones like it helped me through my recovery. I took my experience and used it to help others out of their torment. I turned my burden into tool to help others.
Thank you for this song.
I am now in a stable point in my life. I have an awesome job where I can support myself and a family. I have a loving fiancé to whom I'll be married to next year.

I'm volunteering in Ukraine (medical supply delivery, medic and ptsd treatment). I have lost friends to the war along the way.
My friend and i both LOVED this song, and listened to it together. She died a couple of months ago evacuating civilians.
I played her this song from a JBL speaker on Independence Square in Kyiv to remember her. I got her a bunch of flowers and placed them there, next to her flag, amongst a sea of flags there to remember the fallen. It was beautiful.
The song depicts the exact story that volunteers and conscripts are living there. They are not soldiers by choice, but man they are fighting. And yes, eventually we will all meet again ❤.

Lol I understand what you mean, but we take the lyrics and we get a new perspective, which can be applied with real life, and if you combine everything it is like a story.
@@horizelux2212 Yes I understand that but in "Stronger" when she faces that Giant Mechanical spider (I think its mechanical) I don't think one of those ever been in the world. In "Closer to the sun" you see it lie destroyed or dead on the ground. I mean yes there is a story behind with the pictures and the lyrics. If you do combine both of it, it won't make since because of that spider. So not everything happened in real life that's in the story of that girl. I mean yes there is alot of real life incidents *cough suffocation cough* but just saying not everything happened in real life, but I do understand what you are saying. 2 things more!
