I think they have the plan for season 2 actually. And are prepared to do it they just don’t have the means or money to do it. So it’s not off the table forever just not soon

Dark crystal was definitely scary as a small kid, I was an 80s kid and I loved the movie but I was also terrified lol

I mean sort of. He gave lots and lots of backstory that you could read if you wanted to (and a lot of us did.) But you could also enjoy Lord of the Rings just fine without ever touching the Silmarillion. Lord of the Rings didn't depend on the Silmarillion. The Dark Crystal depends on supplemental material to give context to it's weirdness.
The Lord of the Rings would have been quite worse if he had 90 minutes of film to explain all he explained in his first lotr book

As I recall, Jen used his flute to specifically play the song the Mystics sang back home. I always assumed it was the song itself that made the crystal react, not the instrument. That still isn't really a perfect explanation, but the mystics are supposed to be magic or something (Why else would they be called that) so it was good enough for me. 😂
The Black Caldron scared me as a kid and the Lion King, but the Black Caldron was way scarier and I didn't even know that it was the first Disney movie to have a PG rating which is saying a lot if you saw The Lion King, Pinocchio, and Fantasia. Also I can understand how James feels because I had the same issue with the movie Back To The Future like how the movie doesn't explain how a high school student is friends with a disgraced physicist or even why said high schooler even wanted to go to when his parents were teenagers at all instead of actually going to historic events to ace his history test at school.
Personally, the fire bull thing in The Last Unicorn freaked me out when I was younger lol

I have a theory: the crystal reflects the sun and it helps make the Skeksis younger and uhh..... the good guys also get younger with the crystal and since it cracks,not all of the crystal's magic is there and so they age and so the shard will give all of the power to them and that's how they age

Watching The Dark Crystal is so satisfying but it does make me feel kindoff empty because the movie is so quiet and there's barely any characters which makes it feel even more empty. That's why I'd rather watch the show than the film because it takes on the events before The Dark Crystal

The voice actor who played Light in the English dub of Death Note is Brad Swaile and The Dark Crystal is actually his favorite childhood movie! Okay, so I've watched the movie now, and I think I understand why the crystal likes music. The crystal is the thing that joins the two creatures at the end, and it's shown that the "good guys" have a special call where they all harmonize with each other. When Jen blew the flute, it made a tone very similar to that call, and it makes the crystal glow because it recognizes it.
