President Trump and his task force that appears on national TV should start wearing mask as it is recommended by CDC. This will set an example to the people in USA. I understand that nobody wants to spread any germs/virus to others. Wearing mask in public setting is like purchasing an insurance. In addition, there needs to be an enforcement. Similar to what Taiwan's doing, no mask then no public transit, no entry ... etc. We all need to work together to get through this.

I think I had this back in December 2019 and got it off and on for about a month after. It started on my month long vacation in Hawaii and carried on after I got home. My symptoms were nausea, vomiting, feeling of passing out, inability to stand, inability to hold my bowel, productive cough that produced so much mucus I couldn’t lay down, feeling of not being able to draw a deep breath, burning chest pain, chills and extreme fatigue. I wasn’t able to eat anything for weeks. I couldn’t eat more that a handful every two days and I was constantly vomiting and defecating blood to the point I was admitted to the ER. I had no idea what was going on and neither did the doctors. I’m still struggling with a cough but I’m not sick anymore, my lungs just aren’t at full capacity anymore so it’s easy for me to overexert myself

Seahawk Fan I got sick around the end of November-beginning of December 2019, and I never thought I would get over it. I was diagnosed with a stomach bug but I knew better. I had flu like symptoms but tested negative for flu. I have no clue, but it seemed to last around 2 months. I still have shortness of breath to this day.

Andrew Flanagan The first positive covid19 case in the United States was announced in the end of January. About a week and a half later, Trump enacted the travel ban from China and was called “xenophobic” by Joe Biden for doing so. That means if Joe Biden was President, many more Americans would be dying. Think about it, if hundreds of more people with the virus came to the United States, the virus would have spread even faster than it already is and the whole country could be looking like New York is right now.
On top of the China travel ban, he also put out a travel ban from all countries with an outbreak including all of Europe which became the epicenter of the virus. In the beginning of March, he signed a sweeping spending bill worth 8.3$ billion to combat the spread of the new coronavirus, pumping billions of dollars into prevention efforts and research to quickly produce a vaccine for the deadly disease. About a week later, trump declared the virus a national emergency. In doing so, he passed a bill that loaned 50$ billion to small businesses that are affected. On top of that, it allows some people and business that are affected by the outbreak, to defer paying their federal income taxes for an additional three months, with no penalties.
Since then, in efforts to help New York, he has sent the National Guard, millions of ppe, over 4000 ventilators, and helped build 4 new hospitals in nyc. He also just sent one of the navy hospital ships to New York Harbour and the other went to la. In addition, just a couple days ago Trump passed a 2 trillion dollar stimulus bill. Putting in motion the desperately needed financial relief for millions of Americans set back by the pandemic. The package also includes major requirements for insurers to cover diagnostics and services associated with COVID-19 and gives some flexibility to hospitals. A major part of the legislation is $100 billion to hospitals to help them meet the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill also includes massive unemployment assistance and help to businesses. Trump also said he would invoke the Defense Production Act to require General Motors to prioritize contracts to produce breathing ventilators.
Not to mention he’s also promoting the medicines used to treat covid19. Although hydroxylchloroquine being used as a covid19 treatment is still under trial, there have been hopeful results considering it significantly reduces viral load in COVID-19 patients, and had an enhanced effect when azithromycin was included in treatment. The trial had all of the patients recovering much faster than usual except for a patient who was already too far gone. I work at a hospital in New York and they have already started giving covid19 patients the combination of the drugs. Researchers have also already started a few different trials for a vaccine with help from the billions of dollars they received from the bills Trump has passed so far. They're obviously going to have to make sure they're safe before given out to the public. Yet they are shattering records on how fast they created potential vaccines which is incredible.
Also if you weren’t aware, it took Obama and Biden 6 months to declare a national emergency during the swine flu pandemic after over a THOUSAND of Americans had already died. Where as trump declared one less than 2 weeks after the first American death. Although Obama did declare a public health emergency quickly, there is a big difference. A national emergency triggers a rapid outlay of federal money to address the emergency. National emergencies also give great power to the president, allowing the president to do things such as activate the National Guard. (Which Trump has already done and Obama didn't even enact a travel ban). Where as a public health emergency only allows some federal grant money to flow toward addressing the emergency and eases laws and regulations that have relevance to the emergency. During the first year alone the swine flu virus killed nearly 600 thousand people world wide. In America, it infected nearly 61 million people, hospitalized nearly 300,000 people and killed roughly 15,000 including 1800 children the first year alone. There's no arguing that large amounts children dying is way worse than what's happening now.
With that being said, the coronavirus isn't any less dangerous and should be treated as such. However that may be, the only reason the mortality rate is so high, is because it's very deadly towards elderly people/people with underlying conditions. On top of that, there's most likely thousands and thousands of people that recover from the virus without even knowing they ever had it, which would tremendously lower the mortality rate.
Now on to Trump planning to re open the economy. Yes trump has a goal to resume the economy on Easter, but if it's still not safe or recommended by physicians he obviously will put it off longer. Millions of Americans have already lost their jobs and the domestic unemployment rate will be larger than at any point since the Great Depression. I'm sure you wouldn't want another depression to happen as that could also lead to many American deaths, which is the main reason trump is pushing to re open the economy as soon as possible as long it is safe to do so.
That is all the efforts Trump has made to battle the ongoing deadly outbreak that I can think of. With all that being said, it is not fair to say "because of trump". Trump is clearly listening to physicians advice and is pushing to save as many Americans as possible. He can't control the affects of a virus that we know little about since it is still fairly new. Instead of calling out your own president, how bout you direct that negative energy towards the communist party in China, which hid the virus for nearly 2 months and inspired a heroic doctor from China to risk his life to get the truth out before dying to the virus itself. With an extra 2 months to learn about the virus, not only American lives, but countless lives around the world could have been saved if it wasn’t for China’s communist party’s attempt to cover up the virus.
During times of a crisis like this we should be standing behind our president, especially for him being a badass by calling out the communist party in China for their inhumane acts and standing up for our country. Remember we're in this together, put the petty politics away for a few months. While you’re at it, maybe you should take some time to do some research and educate yourself on the current pandemic before voicing your opinion.
