- When longtime “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak steps down at the end of next season after more than 40 years, Ryan Seacrest will become the new master of ceremonies. “I can't wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White,” Seacrest said in a statement. NBC’s Joe Fryer reports for TODAY.

I think they should have auditioned a variety of different people (including common people we have never heard of), rotate guest hosts from people who auditioned, create a poll on which guest host they like the most, and go from there. Ryan Seacrest already has many opportunities, and I think other people deserve a chance. I feel like there needs to be new blood entirely.

This will never happen but if most of the well known fast food chains went belly-up because of their high fat and high calorie content, I would say "Now all restaurants are Subway". Subway's sandwiches are a lot low in fat grams and calories making it the only fast food restaurant with healthy food.
If you thought that, compare that to college bookstores. Now, nearly all of them are Barnes and Noble

Seems like they avoided the whole host replacement debacle that Jeopardy went through by quickly choosing Seacrest. Who knew the letter turner would then cause a stir? The transition will not go smoothly.☹
Really TIRED of Ryan Seacrest and I'm SUPER Disappointed the execs of Wheel of Fortune show couldn't be more creative about a replacement.

Ryan Seacrest worked on a children's game show that Merv Griffin created called CLICK. So I guess they thought he would be a good replacement for Pat Sajak. But I was thinking Ty Treadway from Merv Griffin's Crosswords though.

I don't know what word to use here - unfair, predictable, selfish. There are so many. The video said it, that Seacrest has a long resume; not just former but current jobs. Why does he need more? Why is he always the replacement? It's unfair to those not working and could use a job. But for that reason it's predictable. They give the big opportunities to those who are already doing well: along with Seacrest, Steve Harvey, Nick Cannon, Whoopi, Brad Pitt, etc. And it's selfish to keep it out there and not look for a fresh face like one of us. Shameful.
Exactly. There are some people who actually want to work hard and have stressful but rewarding opportunities like this, but they never get to.
Here's something interesting about me. I was born on December 23, 1975. Ryan Seacrest was born on December 24, 1974. So I was born almost one whole year after Seacrest was born and I was just 5 years old when Pat Sajak became host of Wheel, replacing Chuck Woolery. That's quite interesting. I wish Ryan the best of luck as the new host of Wheel of Fortune in the fall of 2024.

I know right! Sam Buttrey from Jeopardy, John Michael Higgins, and anybody but Ryan would be great. I remember that Ryan ruined a game show that I hate called Generation Gap. The host, Kelly Ripa is very annoying. They offer child’s toys which is mean. One time it was $30,000 or a teddy bear. They were so mean! I will never watch that show again! Hope it never comes back!

This will alienate many long time viewers of WOF like myself who's been watching this and Jeopardy consistently since 1985. He lacks wit, charisma, intelligence and could never imagine making the kind of jokes Pat Sajack and Alex Trebek would make that made them one of a kind. He's too safe and will be a blunder for them like Mayim Bialek was for Jeopardy.

The show requires a very diplomatic host, Pat never ever made fun of a contestant and make them look bad, he is uplifting and funny and I’m sure Ryan will do a good job, I hope. But we need another younger Vanna, no disrespect for her, she is irreplaceable, maybe she will help Pat, I mean Ryan get situated and then give up her throne..

Another person, I thought would've been a good replacement for Pat was Chris Hardwick, host of "The Wall" but that was only because I thought "The Wall" was cancelled because I didn't see any new episodes last year. But "The Wall" is back with a new season so Chris isn't going anywhere. I do think Ryan Seacrest is also a good choice. When Vanna retires, I think Maggie Sajack should take over as puzzle board worker. It really is time for newer, fresher, and YOUNGER people to host this show.

I can’t think of any other woman game show hosts that I like besides Elizabeth Banks, Meredith Vieira, Sara Haines and Brooke Burns but they are too busy hosting other game shows. Don’t choose Mayim Bialik if they change their mind and I hope she doesn’t host Jeopardy ever again.
