You know you could've just countersink the holes a little more and then plug them, now someone can hit the table and cause two thin pieces of wood to break off and then you'll have to replace the board. But really you shouldn't hide the screws when you build furniture just in case you have to take it apart to move it
In highly visible areas wood plugs are a pain and/or still somewhat visible. Wood glue is typically stronger than the wood itself. There is absolutely no danger of those two thin pieces breaking from a random hit, esp if a protectant sealer is used. Then don't hide screws on furniture that will need to taken apart
There are a while lot of ways to do this, but this is a garbage idea that ruins the integrity of the wood. If possible, and you choose to go this route, any series of joints would be a good solution. No screws needed, looks great. If using screws, use the pilot bit do you dont split it, then use a larger bit (tons of different ways to do this) to ensure the head of the screw is below the surface of the wood. Then hammer a matching plug into the hole, turn the plug so that the grain matches the host and it can not be seen. Then sand her flush, let the dust from sanding fill in any imperfections (use a dust glue mix if absolutely necessary as a filler). And bam... it'll look perfect and still be strong and the glue won't stop your finish from soaking in.
Like others have pointed out, this is not how it's done. Usually you design your project so any fastening hardware is hidden by design. Or you countersink your screws and fill the holes with dowels flush trimmed to the wood with the grain in the same direction. Or other ways. This is a trash idea and looks cheap as hell.

Depending on how the grain of the wood is, you'll really struggle to peel a neat sliver back like this in many cases... and it'd be impossible in hardwood, or in the middle of a length where you don't have access to the end grain. If that sliver detaches (which it will, often) it'll never go back quite right, then you've just ruined the part and will have to go and make a new one.
Or you could just buy the plugging cutter and do it a reliable and neat way. Up to you, but personally I'll stick to doing it properly.
@@chemistrykrang8065 thank you❤️

Dude, I'm gonna have to get the screws out from the furtniture sometime!
That's when you bring in the sledgehammer and smash it apart.

I'm probably that person thats going to try this just to mess up on the work and take everything apart again.
@soinhu foitu thought the same, when you need to dismantle this you'll need to ruin everything
@soinhu foitu I agree
I'm with you on that, tried to remove those plastic anchors in wood...the damn thing pulled out 1/4 of the wood around it and left 1/2 the anchor in!

Me too 😞
Clever, tools are really useful sometimes when it gets or comes to those things

To anyone wondering if you are going to hide a screw... drill your screw in deeper than normal and put a piece of dowling in the hole but only usually decorative pieces
Or use putty
@@DankNG47 putty is the way to go
@@DankNG47 not even lol
This is the cleanest way to hide a connection. Sure you can wood putty or dowel but you’re left with a circular hole. Why blemish the beauty of wood when you can easily prevent that?
the method shown in the video looks much cleaner .
