jing for better or worse, has the most interesting internet lore out of any character thus far.. making this video was definitely the most fun I've had, and changed my perspective on him overall
I think I said this a Sparkle video, but Jing Yuan being a unit that has improved with time feels very in-character for the General. He just patiently waits for the right pieces to be in the right places to put his opponents in checkmate... Unfortunately, I think the opponent here is the player's wallets, lol
this has been a discussion on jy mains sub following initial robin kit (advancing summons) which ironically turned out advancing Lightning Lord could potentially be bad if playing with sparkle already because of the stacking mechanic. If you have been a player of JY+Sparkle already then you'll know the LL will imediately take action after 2nd of Sparkle advance forward which is either 8th or 10th stack depending on setup.
One thing that bug me about JingYuan is that his ult animation have him looking down while flying up meaning the enemy is below him, but the slash is UPWARD. Edit: A lot of people in the reply said that it's due to camera angle that LL seem to swing upward. That's kinda beside the point because if that's so, it would still be bad choreography. Imagine Himeko ult, during the close up shot of the satellite, the camera is placed so that the laser is pointed to the top of the screen instead of the bottom. Logically, it will be consistent but it will be bad choreography
me too. It always bothered me when people called him mid bc he carried me a lot before Blade came around. Got Sparkle primarily for him and he's more fun to play than ever. Beat MoC12 Sam with him as well
Jing yuan is my main since 1.0, I pulled him and his lightcone and after that I took everything everything that could buff him,I farmed the Duke set,I pulled luocha, I pulled topaz, I pulled E1 ruan mei, I pulled sparkle and her lightcone, my general is my best piece in my game, there is no ennemy he can't take out
It's just supports power creeps imo, every limited harmony literally have much much wider coverage than Bronya, meaning that they ARE better than Bronya, he was just bad due to incompatibility with Bronya and he can be better as well considering how many spare SPs I have even in Huohuo Ruan Mei/Sparkle team.

I'm of the opinion that he didn't really get better with new buffers, but they simply made him "easier" to use, allowing more ppl to see the truth of his character. That he was always good, you just needed to a smidge more then an iota of brainpower to use him well, a little more so before certain supports dropped. Imo Fu Xuan is only unit thar truly impacted him in a significant way by patching the cc issue which was by far the biggest complaint aganist him.

@@fatalblue But he did get better damage wise even after Fu xuan was released. Much better relics with the FuA set and Sparkle's release, the only support that can give him extra actions which can also pass the main damage buff to the lightning lord. Bronya and asta we're the only past options and while bronya is good, her skill only benefits JY's ult and skill which is meh. Asta was great to have because she solves his speed issue and gives a bit of attack but sparkle does all of those while being able to buff his main damage source. Oh and the unlimited skill point generation allows you to spam skills on tingyun for even faster energy regeneration to battery JY.
As a new player to Star Rail, Jing Yuan completely changed my experience of the game through both his kit, story, and character. I don't regret pulling for his light cone, nor pouring the excessive resources to make him good. This was a fun watch to see how my favorite character has evolved through the year. Can't wait to take him into late game content.
The first limited character and lightcone i ever pulled. I never paid attention to meta or opinions in the HSR community, so I blissfully enjoyed him from release until today. Its great to see him get even better as more gets released. I hope in the future well see the same take place for the best boy Yangqing, because he is the only ive used that truly felt bad to play
@LeftyPencil that's my hope. E1S1 aventurine is my plan since I'm skipping Acheron. I'll also have an E6 Yangqing probably soon since RNG hates me and the synergy will alleviate some of the lost 50/50 pain 😭

I remember when he first launched and everyone was like "NEW BEST DPS???" because he had a full aoe skill and lightning lord was more than capable of making good single target damage if necessary (if only boss remaining, that is). Of course I pulled for him, I was determined to get both characters from the first banners, and I actually used him a lot with my Seele, since both of them were not well built in the early game they kind of complemented each other. After that... well, we all know how game changing it was when IL launched and destruction became so popular
Thing is, one unit being stronger than the other doesn't mean the latter is weak. Jing Liu pretty much erases the enemies but does that mean characters like Seele are bad now? Ofcourse not

Hunt will aways be more effective against single target and erudition against a lot of enemies, the thing about destruction is that people found them to be more convenient, not single target but also not aoe Different situations require different teams. I love Jingliu and IL and a lot of the time they can carry with raw power, but that does not mean they are going to be the best at that (Also, I just want to be clear that I don't think that destruction is better, just that it became very popular due to being able to brute force a lot of stuff (although it would be ironic for me to say that since I used to main Sampo)
Seele has always been better than Jy and will still continue to be better. She just scale better with supports. The content is scaling with the stronger characters like IL and JL so yeah Jy becomes much worse than before cause of more beefy enemies.
I have never regretted pulling jing yuan, he is my favorite character to date (a certain cowboy might enter the room of favorites) but watching him get so strong has been such a joy and I know he'll only continue to get stronger
the problem is, with the amount investment or even less. Serval is is still handy without being held back by CC or what so ever. the only thing that held back Serval is that her Talent dmg cant crit. if her talent dmg can crit, daaaaaaaammmnnnn JY is fox news already lol. the only argument people wanna say Jing Yuan better than Serval is he can be upgrade through Vertical Investment like idolon which is.... not people preffer of, straight to copium. Still, Kafka much better in PF honestly lol.

Her single target damage is good because of her skill spam benefitting from support from her team, and her AoE pops off hard in PF because of the trace which gives her energy on enemy death. PF quickly turns into Kafka burst spam as every wave gives her around half her energy back every time.
As a jing yuan main from day 1 who though about this just a couple days ago, this vid hit like a wave with all the memories and flashbacks with all the direct and indirect buffs that were mentioned and some i think are honestly worth mentioning 1.0: tingyun, literally taylored for JY and even more when you consider you can run planetary rendezvouz on her 1.1: as mentioned luocha, a future buff being SW, who with sparkle and fu xuan pretty much would allow JY to be ran in mono-quantum instead of seele/QQ and still make it work and honestly yukong, who with 1 less speed would go after JY and if timed correctly could buff massively LL's dmg with her skill+ult combo (unless E6) 1.2: give or take depending on how you see it, broken keel for fu xuan, wich that set isnt bad for her and would buff allies (more specifically JY in this case) with crit dmg 1.3: literally fu xuan, godsend of a tank and buffer 1.4: numby (topaz assist) 1.5: grand duke set, huohuo if you use her with JY, hanya wich was nice for slow-yuan builds but only a bandage, not a permanent fix and pure (peak) fiction 1.6: ruan mei not only for damage and pretty much fitting him nicely, but she also buffed break effect- jing yuan builds and allowed for an easier time for fast-yuan's builds to be made and G&G literally releasing erudition as a path, like, come on, that wasnt subtle at all dayum 2.0: sparkle 2.1: honestly depending on how you want to see it, you could argue aventurine is a indirect buff or not 2.2: robin and a quite... curious set to say the least At this point i think im playing star rail anymore but Jing rail instead lmao, and im all for it
@@millicentwood549 Mainly an E6 Tingyun and a decently built Sparkle with Jing. I also built Himeko and Herta, so this round's gimmicks are perfect for them, especially with Ruan Mei.
Day 1 jing yuan main and still a jing yuan main as i dont have any other dps built, i have focused mainly on my supports after finishing jing yuan and the damage he does with every new support just gets better and better and im glad for that to be the case, this character ages like fine wine
He doesn't have booba , that's his biggest issue , acheron has worse problems and yet simps are ready to do anything to make her work , I remember people saying he's mid because he needs his LC lol , and now that Acheron needs her LC even more than any other dps , suddenly you hear the same ppl say "just pull for her LC , it's worth it" . I know Jingyuan slander won't stop , even when people realise that they clear in the same cycles , the slander didn't stop when he was one of the best in the past moc/pf and it won't stop now, hsr has such a toxic community for a pve game
Ive been saying this. HSR has probably one of the most toxic gacha communities out there even more than Genshin. At least Genshin never singled out an entire character mains and painted them as a villain. Its sickening
The slander won't stop tbh. I remember day 1 when Himeko got slandered hard and back then it was just the hate erudition bandwagon. But now after pure fiction she's loved because "Erudition", yet you still see people say they regret getting Jing or Argenti when both are also Erudition and stomp PF, Argenti especially. It doesn't help that some CCs make fun of JY and Argenti coz it appeals to their audience. Jade and Screwlum is around the corner, and I can already smell the Jade praises and Screwlum slander but idc I'm gonna pull them E0S1 coz I only use Erudtion units since this game is so easy.

So many people in the comments are tryna shit on him and compare him to Serval Yet Serval is less popular and has a slower clear speed than JY. So idk, seems like people just cannot accept that JY is a competent DPS like any other character 🤷♂️.
I've been a day one Jing Yuan lover and never once regretted pulling for him. I love him so much I MADE HIM WORK before we got the characters we do now. He is MY MAN
Finally decided to try out Jing after he was benched for Kafka. He is still stuck at 75 with 888 skills, but he now packs a punch with sparkle, fuxuan, ruan mei on the team :D - I mean, most characters would, but I really did miss his gameplay, those big big numbers from Lightning Lord feel so satisfying!
Acheron main here. You compare two lightning DPS characters, yes, but you are also comparing a new character that hits enemies who have their defense lowered 99% of the time (Acheron) with and old character that can dish out quite a lot of damage and does not require any nihility characters to work efficiently. Acheron's definitely a burst damage queen, but Jingyuan is a burst/follow-up king
Funny you mention E1 Topaz, I got Jing Yuan thinking "yeah he's mid but he's MY mid man and that's what matters" I originally pulled for Guinaifen (pfp makes it kinda obvious) on Topaz banner. I was on vacation trying to one copy of Guinaifen and ended up with not one, but TWO copies of Topaz (one at around 40-ish pity, the second at 50-ish). To make things even better, I managed to get an early Argenti afterwards (what can I say other than Erudition men got me on my knees) for my 2nd team and then, somehow in some way, managed to get a 4 pity Ruan Mei. Recently I managed to win the 75:25 for Jing Yuan's LC too. Needless to say, HSR dev team saw my dedication to using Elation in every SU run and handed me out the Jing Yuan/Topaz team for free (well minus the HuoHuo/Fu Xuan, I stick to Luocha because he's a pretty man. om)
I always appreciate how faithful are the Jing Yuan main, I choose other paths in game, the dot team with Kafka, but this time, after I get Sparkle, I try some multi on Jing Yuan banner to pull some Qingque, for me it was a Win win, situation, if I Won the 50/50 I get the general, that was cool, If I loose I'll try for Acheron, I lose and get the second Bailou, I go for Acheron, but maybe in the future, I'll get Jing Yuan, because is very cool character, I really like is personality and character design
As a player that got him and his light cone i felt really satisfied with his power, yeah sure some content were kinda hard to deal but i never "regretted" to pull for him, i didn't know at the time how some units would help out on teams with him but at least with sparkle i can play with him safer than before
Saved all my starter jades from day 1 to get Jing Yuan and have never regretted it. I like that he just keeps getting better. A long term project :) Farming new relics and pulling characters that work with him like HuoHuo, Ruan Mei and Sparkle. Now I finally got his LC (lost the 25/75 first banner). He feels pretty done. Sure, Acheron will be great but I rather keep using my bird haired general 😊
For a game I (will 100% admit to) getting into for waifus, Jing is far and away my favorite character and 'making him work better' is kind of why I like him so much. Because of how lightning lord comes down, there's this very visceral and satisfying feeling when you do something that improves his performance. That being said I very much play by what 'feels good' vs what is specifically the best, and will always prefer him teamed up with Topaz in a dual DPS configuration. I'm just waiting for a chance to get Fu or Huohuo at this point but we'll see how Aventurine plays along. Team FUA would be fun as all heck.
He was my first 5 star. I deliberately missed Seele, as his banner had better 4 stars too (also don't regret my Ting and Pela). I still play him constantly and he is VERY enjoyable to look at and listen too 😆💕 I play him dual dps with whoever the enemy is also weak to, though my favourite is with Blade 😙🤌
I'm not a meta slave or a simp. Who i pull is based on animation/ background that i like and what i needed for my com, especially at the beginning. I did not pull for seele or SW, i saved and pulled Jing Yuan and his LC. I use Qingque for quantum dps. Did not pull for DHIL bc i have E1 Welt. My Qingque, Jing Yuan and Welt can finish MoC 12 with a few cycles left. So my point is, despite what people sav, pull for those you like. I still use Jing Yuan a lot nowadays
I never regreted getting JY, also a great video ;) I have 2 acocount in honkai, and on f2p one have JY and Ratio as DPS, but yeah I Gave Ratio my Topaz and Ruan mei, and didn't wish for Sparkle, SO poor JY is left with huohuo and bronya+tingyun, they dont really work together, thats why i will be replacing Tingyun with Robin. Also planning on getting Firefly, prob shes gonna replace my much loved JY
I made a reroll account the day JY got released. I got him on my very first 10 pull and I never regretted getting him. Ever since, all of my pulls were centered around him. Topaz, Sparkle, Luocha. I even got his E1 and LC out of hype lmao
I pulled for him because he was hot, his mechanics feels new and fresh and his output at the time was good enough because there weren't other characters beside a certain Quantum Hunt that got memed for crits to compare him to. He still carried me on most MoCs though, he was decently built, (E0S0), him getting stunned was annoying but when he doesn't, he's still very fun. To this day he's my 2nd favorite because Imbibitor Lunae exists, they're both eating very well because of Sparkle's release.
It is because she has a bug where she's dealing damage to already dead enemies and it's being counted, weird stuff but she's still pretty nice just not the crazy shit these people tripping about @@reulery
i always only wanted two things jy to have which would increase the useage probably pretty good, first one is a crowd control resistance similar to dhil to be in his kit, second is just, when LL gets to 10 stacks it immiedately attacks, nothing more or less
I got our general in 1 pull and his LC in 10, at some point I thought it was just the game taunting me, giving me the worst 5 star before I knew what he even did (I pulled him because he’s hot) but then I inadvertently got every character that made him strong, and happened to love them, put that all together, and then I was gifted with the character that helped me beat everything that I struggled with
Jing yuan is definitely the most fun for me atleast. I like planning and clearing trash mobs with jing's ult and skill then watch lightning lord crash down hard and break the enemy

I personally love Jing Yuan (I even have a banner of him in my room) and I got him when he first released as well as his light cone seeing how much he has gotten buffed makes me really happy to see. I do also have Dan Heng IL as well as Blade so yeah we got the trauma trio all together the best friends 😘
I still remember seeing promotional shorts here in yt for HSR before its release. I was like, nah, I have too many turn base game already, then I saw two shorts from beta CBT and it was of Welt, I was like, okay, that's cool! I may download this game if I ever see it again on my shorts after its release. Few days later, another short shows up, and it was JY's ult and I was like, yep, I need to pre register now and I need to get JY no matter what. In the end, I remember rerolling to get an account with Welt on the first 50 banner. Once I got Welt, I started playing and saving anything that I can to make sure that I have JY and his LC. I got it, both at pity with a free Bailu. Almost a year after, my primary team is still Bailu, Welt, JY and Ting Yun. I still pull for all the banner not caring if I get that banner unit or not and the new units are all placed in 2nd and 3rd teams. My primary team is already as is and I don't plan and changing it. My 2nd team is Hou Hou, IL, Sparkle and Ruan Mei. 3rd team is going to be probably Bronya (since I just got her through the 300 something), and whoever I might get in the future XD
I pulled for him in 1.0, got his LC in his recent rerun, as well as Huohuo, Ruan Mei and Sparkle... Next is Aventurine, mostly because he's hot, but that's another piece added to Jing Yuan's support harem. No matter the slander, he'll be my favorite character. My dedication to the general is enough that I cosplayed him 😂

I joined HSR during His Initial banner and I skipped him for SW cuz SW was the first Character of this Game that caught my interests from seeing her in the Beginning of the Game. (If I did factor him into my Pulls I would have most likely Enjoyed him despite all the Mid Yuan crap going on. He had his problems then and they got solved overtime. I got him on the Rerun after I got Sparkle and I am Enjoying him a lot. (I'm not factoring him in to my thoughts on Acheron cuz I pick up characters that I think I'll have fun with. (it's more playstyle related why I am thinking of Skipping Acheron right now) as my account is at a point where I can just have fun Picking up any unit I want or saving to do some vertical Investment into a unit I really like. His performance might not be top of the meta but he is no where near Mid (My definition of mid would be a unit like Arlant, Physical MC, or Natasha.)
By getting Sparkle I was able to always max LL, with skill points also not being much a problem. That speed increase and skill points really changed a lot.
Funny enough. i was not aware of any of this. nothing about the sittuation with Jing Yuan, as i have not pulled him. BUT. i did pull E1S1 Topaz- and she is my most valuable and loved character S2 so now im considering getting Jing Yuan to keep her company lol
I remember seeing his gameplay from the testing servers a day before official release and just decided to wait for him when the game dropped, skipping seele. Meant to go for e0s1, but kept going for tingyun and ended up with e1s1- Everything afterwards was either coping or hoping for him to be a respectable character
I'm a jingyuan absolute lover, cause back then I wasn't much of a meta person. I had my tingyun at e6 cause she kept coming home somehow and used the fire trailblazer on the same team with JY so he wont get hit and it works just fine, like he doesn't really need all the meta supports like ruanmei or fuxuan unless you really seek to give him max max max optimal build - which as a casual player, just not something I'm doing lol. I pulled sparkle for qingque cause I didn't think my JY team has skill point issue, but I realized that sparkle did him a huge buff so now he's much better and still doesn't get hit despite not having fire MC anymore in the team cause Sparkle seems to get hit more lol..
For me i still love him since the day i choose him. Than seele i never regret to choose him his design his playstyle for me its 👌👌👌 now i will pull my second lightning characters soon Acheron
Jingyuan was my first limited 5 star when i was new and his play style really amazed me and gotten me more into playing. Always going be my most used dps (besides Argenti). I never will regretted pulling him because im not a meta slave lol. I’m pretty glad he can still work well with new characters as time goes.
according to acheron mains and practical comparisons, E0S0 Jingyuan vs Acheron, Jy is 16% ahead of Acheron but shes a decent bit ahead of him with her Lc
I remember waiting for Jing Yuan and was gonna quit the game if I didn't get him, I didn't even use Serval since I was waiting on Jing Yuan and when I got him he was clearing all the lightning coverage I needed. The only characters I don't have for him are Topaz and Fu Xuan since I lost 50/50 on Fu Xuan and saved for Jingliu to have an ice dps unit. I found it ironic how everyone used to shit on Jing Yuan especially if u rolled Seele and she was just "better" but now I don't see ppl use Seele at all. She literally fell off extremely hard until Sparkle who buffed both Jing Yuan and Seele, yet I still don't see ppl use Seele anymore as much as they used to.
on the comment at 5:04, as a person who had and still has no intention of pulling for DHIL, i've never felt like i was missing out on having a solid damage dealer on my team having Seele and Kafka were enough to clear end game stuff (both e0s0) it made the game a lot more fun figuring out how to go about the lack of toughness break
Pulled Jing Yuan on launch, then pulled Sparkle and his lightcone recently :) He's so, so fun. I'm not that good at HSR, don't clear moc, don't have good relics... But honestly? Compared to my genshin account which can clear abyss at least 30 stars every cycle, I'm way more happy with my star rail one. In genshin all my favorites are dpses, so I don't have many supports and my teams are pretty limited.. But in star rail? I'm rocking with my Jing yuan + lightcone, and Ratio + lightcone, as my only two dpses, and then having fun with Sparkle + her lightcone, Silverwolf, and Ruan Mei. It's so much more fun and so easy to make good teams. Going for Luocha and Fu Xuan next - they're defo my faves.
Im surprised you didnt mention Lynx when you mentioned Hanya a bit too. I felt she was a nice F2P addition. At least for me, an upgrade for Nat at the very least. As much as i really did like Fu Xian as a character, i remember i was saving then since i lost my 5050s on JY and DHIL pulls and had to go to pity 2x. Afterwards i was just saving for JY LC for the longest time and was upset every patch he didnt come back lmao, im good tho i got it on rerun 😊 Anw, i stuck with my e6 TY and Asta and eventually, Lynx joined my roster. Never got any of the other 5* supp cos i lived pulling for my husbandos whc i of course dont regret! I really did like the video tho dont get me wrong, any praise the General gets is healing after all! I do have to go back to relics hell for the duke set tho aaaaaah _(:з」∠)_
Jing Yuan was just really fun to play for me, and my team was complete once I got Bronya. I've stuck with him ever since he came out and only just a few weeks ago did I finally get his light cone (I was running Himeko's lc s2), then farmed his new relic set. I love the fella. Tbh one of the main reasons I got him was the meme back then that his jp vc was Jojo. Glad I can just kinda chill with a few chars instead of having to get a new one for meta every like 3 patches Until I got Jingliu and built her, he was the only dps I really used (team is fire mc, bailu, jing, and bronya, and I love ma lance Boi as well). I also got IL, but ironically despite my hype for him, I've to this day not finished building him and haven't really used him in a proper comp lol
When I got Jing Yuan I was happy but then was deeply depressed when he got power out creeped by so many other 5 stars. So glad they buffed him to make him usable and much better.
Jing Yuan's always done good work on my account. I've never regretted saving for him all the way back in 1.0 ... I'm a little sad I couldn't get the funds for Sparkle though... Being both a Kafka and Jing Yuan main is expensive lol. I should have plenty of funds for Robin though!
I'm thinking of future support that will active FUA on their turn For example, Skill debuff enemy/enemies take more FUA damage, Ult will active all allies' FUA on target and recharge energy on their FUA/Allies' FUA. Imagine the whole team go off at once in sequence. I took the reference of Neostone Agent from Summoners war.
Wow this made me realize many people cannot play unique DPS kit and can only play simple straightforward kits… if a DPS has a slightly more restrictive or complicated part of their kit people would be “oh wow it’s mid” 💀 A game about speed tuning, team synergy and team building. And people cannot do it 💀💀💀 so they complain 🥱how amazing
I’m really tempted to pull for him. I currently have ~60 pity with guaranteed and over 100 wishes. I have Sparkle and Tingyun and I have Lynx or Bailu as a healer. It’d be a perfect pull. HOWEVER, Jingliu and Luocha are coming up next patch and they both interest me, and I am determined to get Silver Wolf and Kafka when they next come around. Should I get him?
I'm a Jing Yuan haver since 1.0, and I got him at 60ish pity while wishing just to have Tingyun (Tingyun is the reason I played HSR, LOL). I'm glad I got Jing Yuan. LL is so cool. Jing Yuan with LL is like Ren Tao with Bason from Shaman King. Jing Yuan helped me clear Cocolia and Gepard bosses in Simulated Universe and I really enjoyed using Elation with him, Clara and Topaz. I hope his LL has an upgrade in the future
I managed to get him early in his first banner when I was trying to get Sushang and Tingyun eidolon, back then I felt lucky but after that Destruction chars come, but glad he's getting better now. 😅
following the last few harmony characters, i have a feeling Robin will be a game changer for Jing, its time for follow up attack teams to get the love that DOT teams have been getting the last few months. adventurine and Robin being follow up support characters could really make a hyper carry follow up team stable

this has been a discussion on jy mains sub following initial robin kit (advancing summons) which ironically turned out advancing Lightning Lord could potentially be bad if playing with sparkle already because of the stacking mechanic. If you have been a player of JY+Sparkle already then you'll know the LL will imediately take action after 2nd of Sparkle advance forward which is either 8th or 10th stack depending on setup.

One thing that bug me about JingYuan is that his ult animation have him looking down while flying up meaning the enemy is below him, but the slash is UPWARD.
Edit: A lot of people in the reply said that it's due to camera angle that LL seem to swing upward. That's kinda beside the point because if that's so, it would still be bad choreography.
Imagine Himeko ult, during the close up shot of the satellite, the camera is placed so that the laser is pointed to the top of the screen instead of the bottom. Logically, it will be consistent but it will be bad choreography

Jing yuan is my main since 1.0, I pulled him and his lightcone and after that I took everything everything that could buff him,I farmed the Duke set,I pulled luocha, I pulled topaz, I pulled E1 ruan mei, I pulled sparkle and her lightcone, my general is my best piece in my game, there is no ennemy he can't take out

It's just supports power creeps imo, every limited harmony literally have much much wider coverage than Bronya, meaning that they ARE better than Bronya, he was just bad due to incompatibility with Bronya and he can be better as well considering how many spare SPs I have even in Huohuo Ruan Mei/Sparkle team.

I'm of the opinion that he didn't really get better with new buffers, but they simply made him "easier" to use, allowing more ppl to see the truth of his character. That he was always good, you just needed to a smidge more then an iota of brainpower to use him well, a little more so before certain supports dropped. Imo Fu Xuan is only unit thar truly impacted him in a significant way by patching the cc issue which was by far the biggest complaint aganist him.
He still has speed boots in his damage calculations on prydwen😭

Much better relics with the FuA set and Sparkle's release, the only support that can give him extra actions which can also pass the main damage buff to the lightning lord. Bronya and asta we're the only past options and while bronya is good, her skill only benefits JY's ult and skill which is meh. Asta was great to have because she solves his speed issue and gives a bit of attack but sparkle does all of those while being able to buff his main damage source.
Oh and the unlimited skill point generation allows you to spam skills on tingyun for even faster energy regeneration to battery JY.
As a new player to Star Rail, Jing Yuan completely changed my experience of the game through both his kit, story, and character. I don't regret pulling for his light cone, nor pouring the excessive resources to make him good. This was a fun watch to see how my favorite character has evolved through the year. Can't wait to take him into late game content.

The first limited character and lightcone i ever pulled. I never paid attention to meta or opinions in the HSR community, so I blissfully enjoyed him from release until today. Its great to see him get even better as more gets released. I hope in the future well see the same take place for the best boy Yangqing, because he is the only ive used that truly felt bad to play

I remember when he first launched and everyone was like "NEW BEST DPS???" because he had a full aoe skill and lightning lord was more than capable of making good single target damage if necessary (if only boss remaining, that is). Of course I pulled for him, I was determined to get both characters from the first banners, and I actually used him a lot with my Seele, since both of them were not well built in the early game they kind of complemented each other. After that... well, we all know how game changing it was when IL launched and destruction became so popular
Thing is, one unit being stronger than the other doesn't mean the latter is weak. Jing Liu pretty much erases the enemies but does that mean characters like Seele are bad now? Ofcourse not
@@adriantepes4355You're right, Star Rail paths do exactly that! Hunt will aways be more effective against single target and erudition against a lot of enemies, the thing about destruction is that people found them to be more convenient, not single target but also not aoe
Different situations require different teams. I love Jingliu and IL and a lot of the time they can carry with raw power, but that does not mean they are going to be the best at that
(Also, I just want to be clear that I don't think that destruction is better, just that it became very popular due to being able to brute force a lot of stuff (although it would be ironic for me to say that since I used to main Sampo)
@@Ds_Neptune Destruction is more easy to use and that's one of the reasons why Jing Liu and Blade are to this day my greatest assets.
Seele has always been better than Jy and will still continue to be better. She just scale better with supports. The content is scaling with the stronger characters like IL and JL so yeah Jy becomes much worse than before cause of more beefy enemies.

I have never regretted pulling jing yuan, he is my favorite character to date (a certain cowboy might enter the room of favorites) but watching him get so strong has been such a joy and I know he'll only continue to get stronger

Her single target damage is good because of her skill spam benefitting from support from her team, and her AoE pops off hard in PF because of the trace which gives her energy on enemy death. PF quickly turns into Kafka burst spam as every wave gives her around half her energy back every time.

As a jing yuan main from day 1 who though about this just a couple days ago, this vid hit like a wave with all the memories and flashbacks with all the direct and indirect buffs that were mentioned and some i think are honestly worth mentioning
1.0: tingyun, literally taylored for JY and even more when you consider you can run planetary rendezvouz on her
1.1: as mentioned luocha, a future buff being SW, who with sparkle and fu xuan pretty much would allow JY to be ran in mono-quantum instead of seele/QQ and still make it work and honestly yukong, who with 1 less speed would go after JY and if timed correctly could buff massively LL's dmg with her skill+ult combo (unless E6)
1.2: give or take depending on how you see it, broken keel for fu xuan, wich that set isnt bad for her and would buff allies (more specifically JY in this case) with crit dmg
1.3: literally fu xuan, godsend of a tank and buffer
1.4: numby (topaz assist)
1.5: grand duke set, huohuo if you use her with JY, hanya wich was nice for slow-yuan builds but only a bandage, not a permanent fix and pure (peak) fiction
1.6: ruan mei not only for damage and pretty much fitting him nicely, but she also buffed break effect- jing yuan builds and allowed for an easier time for fast-yuan's builds to be made and G&G literally releasing erudition as a path, like, come on, that wasnt subtle at all dayum
2.0: sparkle
2.1: honestly depending on how you want to see it, you could argue aventurine is a indirect buff or not
2.2: robin and a quite... curious set to say the least

Day 1 jing yuan main and still a jing yuan main as i dont have any other dps built, i have focused mainly on my supports after finishing jing yuan and the damage he does with every new support just gets better and better and im glad for that to be the case, this character ages like fine wine

The slander won't stop tbh. I remember day 1 when Himeko got slandered hard and back then it was just the hate erudition bandwagon. But now after pure fiction she's loved because "Erudition", yet you still see people say they regret getting Jing or Argenti when both are also Erudition and stomp PF, Argenti especially. It doesn't help that some CCs make fun of JY and Argenti coz it appeals to their audience. Jade and Screwlum is around the corner, and I can already smell the Jade praises and Screwlum slander but idc I'm gonna pull them E0S1 coz I only use Erudtion units since this game is so easy.

Finally decided to try out Jing after he was benched for Kafka. He is still stuck at 75 with 888 skills, but he now packs a punch with sparkle, fuxuan, ruan mei on the team :D - I mean, most characters would, but I really did miss his gameplay, those big big numbers from Lightning Lord feel so satisfying!
He is probably my most used character, not because he is strong, but he is very consistent and AFK friendly.

Acheron main here. You compare two lightning DPS characters, yes, but you are also comparing a new character that hits enemies who have their defense lowered 99% of the time (Acheron) with and old character that can dish out quite a lot of damage and does not require any nihility characters to work efficiently. Acheron's definitely a burst damage queen, but Jingyuan is a burst/follow-up king

Funny you mention E1 Topaz, I got Jing Yuan thinking "yeah he's mid but he's MY mid man and that's what matters"
I originally pulled for Guinaifen (pfp makes it kinda obvious) on Topaz banner. I was on vacation trying to one copy of Guinaifen and ended up with not one, but TWO copies of Topaz (one at around 40-ish pity, the second at 50-ish).
To make things even better, I managed to get an early Argenti afterwards (what can I say other than Erudition men got me on my knees) for my 2nd team and then, somehow in some way, managed to get a 4 pity Ruan Mei.
Recently I managed to win the 75:25 for Jing Yuan's LC too. Needless to say, HSR dev team saw my dedication to using Elation in every SU run and handed me out the Jing Yuan/Topaz team for free (well minus the HuoHuo/Fu Xuan, I stick to Luocha because he's a pretty man. om)

I always appreciate how faithful are the Jing Yuan main, I choose other paths in game, the dot team with Kafka, but this time, after I get Sparkle, I try some multi on Jing Yuan banner to pull some Qingque, for me it was a Win win, situation, if I Won the 50/50 I get the general, that was cool, If I loose I'll try for Acheron, I lose and get the second Bailou, I go for Acheron, but maybe in the future, I'll get Jing Yuan, because is very cool character, I really like is personality and character design
As a player that got him and his light cone i felt really satisfied with his power, yeah sure some content were kinda hard to deal but i never "regretted" to pull for him, i didn't know at the time how some units would help out on teams with him but at least with sparkle i can play with him safer than before

Never regretted Jing Yuan
For a game I (will 100% admit to) getting into for waifus, Jing is far and away my favorite character and 'making him work better' is kind of why I like him so much. Because of how lightning lord comes down, there's this very visceral and satisfying feeling when you do something that improves his performance. That being said I very much play by what 'feels good' vs what is specifically the best, and will always prefer him teamed up with Topaz in a dual DPS configuration. I'm just waiting for a chance to get Fu or Huohuo at this point but we'll see how Aventurine plays along. Team FUA would be fun as all heck.
He was my first 5 star. I deliberately missed Seele, as his banner had better 4 stars too (also don't regret my Ting and Pela). I still play him constantly and he is VERY enjoyable to look at and listen too 😆💕 I play him dual dps with whoever the enemy is also weak to, though my favourite is with Blade 😙🤌
I'm not a meta slave or a simp. Who i pull is based on animation/ background that i like and what i needed for my com, especially at the beginning. I did not pull for seele or SW, i saved and pulled Jing Yuan and his LC. I use Qingque for quantum dps. Did not pull for DHIL bc i have E1 Welt. My Qingque, Jing Yuan and Welt can finish MoC 12 with a few cycles left. So my point is, despite what people sav, pull for those you like. I still use Jing Yuan a lot nowadays
As a day 1 jy player he just keeps winning mid yuan jokes are outdated now never regretted or felt bad about getting jy
I never regreted getting JY, also a great video ;) I have 2 acocount in honkai, and on f2p one have JY and Ratio as DPS, but yeah I Gave Ratio my Topaz and Ruan mei, and didn't wish for Sparkle, SO poor JY is left with huohuo and bronya+tingyun, they dont really work together, thats why i will be replacing Tingyun with Robin. Also planning on getting Firefly, prob shes gonna replace my much loved JY

I made a reroll account the day JY got released. I got him on my very first 10 pull and I never regretted getting him. Ever since, all of my pulls were centered around him. Topaz, Sparkle, Luocha. I even got his E1 and LC out of hype lmao
I pulled for him because he was hot, his mechanics feels new and fresh and his output at the time was good enough because there weren't other characters beside a certain Quantum Hunt that got memed for crits to compare him to.
He still carried me on most MoCs though, he was decently built,
(E0S0), him getting stunned was annoying but when he doesn't, he's still very fun.
To this day he's my 2nd favorite because Imbibitor Lunae exists, they're both eating very well because of Sparkle's release.

i always only wanted two things jy to have which would increase the useage probably pretty good, first one is a crowd control resistance similar to dhil to be in his kit, second is just, when LL gets to 10 stacks it immiedately attacks, nothing more or less

I got our general in 1 pull and his LC in 10, at some point I thought it was just the game taunting me, giving me the worst 5 star before I knew what he even did (I pulled him because he’s hot) but then I inadvertently got every character that made him strong, and happened to love them, put that all together, and then I was gifted with the character that helped me beat everything that I struggled with
Jing yuan is definitely the most fun for me atleast. I like planning and clearing trash mobs with jing's ult and skill then watch lightning lord crash down hard and break the enemy

I personally love Jing Yuan (I even have a banner of him in my room) and I got him when he first released as well as his light cone seeing how much he has gotten buffed makes me really happy to see. I do also have Dan Heng IL as well as Blade so yeah we got the trauma trio all together the best friends 😘

I still remember seeing promotional shorts here in yt for HSR before its release. I was like, nah, I have too many turn base game already, then I saw two shorts from beta CBT and it was of Welt, I was like, okay, that's cool! I may download this game if I ever see it again on my shorts after its release.
Few days later, another short shows up, and it was JY's ult and I was like, yep, I need to pre register now and I need to get JY no matter what. In the end, I remember rerolling to get an account with Welt on the first 50 banner.
Once I got Welt, I started playing and saving anything that I can to make sure that I have JY and his LC.
I got it, both at pity with a free Bailu. Almost a year after, my primary team is still Bailu, Welt, JY and Ting Yun. I still pull for all the banner not caring if I get that banner unit or not and the new units are all placed in 2nd and 3rd teams. My primary team is already as is and I don't plan and changing it.
My 2nd team is Hou Hou, IL, Sparkle and Ruan Mei.
3rd team is going to be probably Bronya (since I just got her through the 300 something), and whoever I might get in the future XD
we all know the most buffed character is actually Qingque
I pulled for him in 1.0, got his LC in his recent rerun, as well as Huohuo, Ruan Mei and Sparkle... Next is Aventurine, mostly because he's hot, but that's another piece added to Jing Yuan's support harem. No matter the slander, he'll be my favorite character. My dedication to the general is enough that I cosplayed him 😂

I joined HSR during His Initial banner and I skipped him for SW cuz SW was the first Character of this Game that caught my interests from seeing her in the Beginning of the Game. (If I did factor him into my Pulls I would have most likely Enjoyed him despite all the Mid Yuan crap going on. He had his problems then and they got solved overtime. I got him on the Rerun after I got Sparkle and I am Enjoying him a lot. (I'm not factoring him in to my thoughts on Acheron cuz I pick up characters that I think I'll have fun with. (it's more playstyle related why I am thinking of Skipping Acheron right now) as my account is at a point where I can just have fun Picking up any unit I want or saving to do some vertical Investment into a unit I really like.
His performance might not be top of the meta but he is no where near Mid (My definition of mid would be a unit like Arlant, Physical MC, or Natasha.)
By getting Sparkle I was able to always max LL, with skill points also not being much a problem. That speed increase and skill points really changed a lot.
Funny enough. i was not aware of any of this. nothing about the sittuation with Jing Yuan, as i have not pulled him.
BUT. i did pull E1S1 Topaz- and she is my most valuable and loved character S2
so now im considering getting Jing Yuan to keep her company lol
I remember seeing his gameplay from the testing servers a day before official release and just decided to wait for him when the game dropped, skipping seele. Meant to go for e0s1, but kept going for tingyun and ended up with e1s1- Everything afterwards was either coping or hoping for him to be a respectable character
I'm a jingyuan absolute lover, cause back then I wasn't much of a meta person. I had my tingyun at e6 cause she kept coming home somehow and used the fire trailblazer on the same team with JY so he wont get hit and it works just fine, like he doesn't really need all the meta supports like ruanmei or fuxuan unless you really seek to give him max max max optimal build - which as a casual player, just not something I'm doing lol. I pulled sparkle for qingque cause I didn't think my JY team has skill point issue, but I realized that sparkle did him a huge buff so now he's much better and still doesn't get hit despite not having fire MC anymore in the team cause Sparkle seems to get hit more lol..
For me i still love him since the day i choose him. Than seele i never regret to choose him his design his playstyle for me its 👌👌👌 now i will pull my second lightning characters soon Acheron
Jingyuan was my first limited 5 star when i was new and his play style really amazed me and gotten me more into playing. Always going be my most used dps (besides Argenti). I never will regretted pulling him because im not a meta slave lol. I’m pretty glad he can still work well with new characters as time goes.
Got him day 1 of his banner and never looked back

but the thing is Acheron can break weakness eventhough the enemy doesnt what lightning weakness. So, you can use it in other teams

I remember waiting for Jing Yuan and was gonna quit the game if I didn't get him, I didn't even use Serval since I was waiting on Jing Yuan and when I got him he was clearing all the lightning coverage I needed. The only characters I don't have for him are Topaz and Fu Xuan since I lost 50/50 on Fu Xuan and saved for Jingliu to have an ice dps unit. I found it ironic how everyone used to shit on Jing Yuan especially if u rolled Seele and she was just "better" but now I don't see ppl use Seele at all. She literally fell off extremely hard until Sparkle who buffed both Jing Yuan and Seele, yet I still don't see ppl use Seele anymore as much as they used to.

on the comment at 5:04, as a person who had and still has no intention of pulling for DHIL, i've never felt like i was missing out on having a solid damage dealer on my team
having Seele and Kafka were enough to clear end game stuff (both e0s0)
it made the game a lot more fun figuring out how to go about the lack of toughness break
Pulled Jing Yuan on launch, then pulled Sparkle and his lightcone recently :)
He's so, so fun. I'm not that good at HSR, don't clear moc, don't have good relics... But honestly? Compared to my genshin account which can clear abyss at least 30 stars every cycle, I'm way more happy with my star rail one. In genshin all my favorites are dpses, so I don't have many supports and my teams are pretty limited.. But in star rail? I'm rocking with my Jing yuan + lightcone, and Ratio + lightcone, as my only two dpses, and then having fun with Sparkle + her lightcone, Silverwolf, and Ruan Mei. It's so much more fun and so easy to make good teams. Going for Luocha and Fu Xuan next - they're defo my faves.
Im surprised you didnt mention Lynx when you mentioned Hanya a bit too. I felt she was a nice F2P addition. At least for me, an upgrade for Nat at the very least.
As much as i really did like Fu Xian as a character, i remember i was saving then since i lost my 5050s on JY and DHIL pulls and had to go to pity 2x. Afterwards i was just saving for JY LC for the longest time and was upset every patch he didnt come back lmao, im good tho i got it on rerun 😊
Anw, i stuck with my e6 TY and Asta and eventually, Lynx joined my roster. Never got any of the other 5* supp cos i lived pulling for my husbandos whc i of course dont regret!

Jing Yuan was just really fun to play for me, and my team was complete once I got Bronya. I've stuck with him ever since he came out and only just a few weeks ago did I finally get his light cone (I was running Himeko's lc s2), then farmed his new relic set. I love the fella. Tbh one of the main reasons I got him was the meme back then that his jp vc was Jojo. Glad I can just kinda chill with a few chars instead of having to get a new one for meta every like 3 patches
Until I got Jingliu and built her, he was the only dps I really used (team is fire mc, bailu, jing, and bronya, and I love ma lance Boi as well). I also got IL, but ironically despite my hype for him, I've to this day not finished building him and haven't really used him in a proper comp lol
I pulled for him and his weapon on his release and never benched him until then. He's my comfort character and love him with my heart

When I got Jing Yuan I was happy but then was deeply depressed when he got power out creeped by so many other 5 stars. So glad they buffed him to make him usable and much better.
Jing Yuan's always done good work on my account. I've never regretted saving for him all the way back in 1.0
... I'm a little sad I couldn't get the funds for Sparkle though... Being both a Kafka and Jing Yuan main is expensive lol. I should have plenty of funds for Robin though!

For example, Skill debuff enemy/enemies take more FUA damage, Ult will active all allies' FUA on target and recharge energy on their FUA/Allies' FUA.

I’m really tempted to pull for him. I currently have ~60 pity with guaranteed and over 100 wishes. I have Sparkle and Tingyun and I have Lynx or Bailu as a healer. It’d be a perfect pull.
HOWEVER, Jingliu and Luocha are coming up next patch and they both interest me, and I am determined to get Silver Wolf and Kafka when they next come around.
Should I get him?
I'm a Jing Yuan haver since 1.0, and I got him at 60ish pity while wishing just to have Tingyun (Tingyun is the reason I played HSR, LOL). I'm glad I got Jing Yuan. LL is so cool. Jing Yuan with LL is like Ren Tao with Bason from Shaman King. Jing Yuan helped me clear Cocolia and Gepard bosses in Simulated Universe and I really enjoyed using Elation with him, Clara and Topaz. I hope his LL has an upgrade in the future
I managed to get him early in his first banner when I was trying to get Sushang and Tingyun eidolon, back then I felt lucky but after that Destruction chars come, but glad he's getting better now. 😅
I got E2 on his first banner because i was trying to get tingyun with a couple of eidolans and my luck in the first few patches was cracked.
following the last few harmony characters, i have a feeling Robin will be a game changer for Jing, its time for follow up attack teams to get the love that DOT teams have been getting the last few months. adventurine and Robin being follow up support characters could really make a hyper carry follow up team stable
what a journey, he came from underrated to overrated in just a few patches
he was the reason i started playing the game. first i was happy with him, and then destruction trio meta rolled around, i pulled all of them and i barely used him. then sparkle came out and now i love him again
Still using him because he's my first ever 5* limited and i love his design. He's e2 but no signature lc since i get sparkle also for him. I'm still satisfied with my JY but still waiting for his comeback as a decent erudition damage dealer again. ♥
My journey with jingis actually funny. I was playing when jing came out and got him and his lightcone early but i didnt really like his gameplay so i benched him. But ihave pretty muh pulled allhis supports except topaz lmao
