Seeing the gods in the sky and knowing that a player has to actively honor them through sacrifice and temple building sounds awesome.

Never thought I’d need to see Cerberus rolling over for a belly rub.
His name basically means Spot (Spotted), so it does fit quite well.
Cerberus is a good boi who deserves all the belly rubs in the world

Ngl...this kinda makes troy seem a bit more interesting to me. And the fact that all the mythical units are optional and there are more historical based game modes, this seems like a win.

Doubt it. Pretty sure the sea beast was just eye candy and it was just said for a "joke" which seems like a bad move considering there are a bunch of people who want naval combat and will read too much into it.
@@AwesomeLionSaurus still, it's a possibility. the main reason that CA used to explain the lack of navel combat in the base game was that were wasn't much historical basis for naval battles at the time, if they're going mythological on the other side they might be able to draw from other myths involving long sea voyages like the Odyssey and the Argonauts
@@Eclipsed_Embers Perhaps, but when you consider that naval warfare has been missing for quite sometime now, it'd seem odd for them to add it back in as a DLC. Especially since, most likely, warhammer 3 won't use naval warfare like in rome 2 or napolean either. Still, anything is possible indeed. Though I'd expect the next naval battle game to be within the next sequel to one of the older games over this or another new title.
@@Eclipsed_Embers I'd love to see naval battles, but keep in mind that they did the exact same thing for the Vampire Coast in their trailer.

@@dallascimini3619 isn't the Leviathan a biblical Monster? Ketos, Charybdis or the Skylla are some seamonsters from greek mythology.

I can wholeheartedly say that I was thoroughly disappointed to find out that we had no actual mythical units to begin with. This is a huge win and great call on their behalf IMO.

@@viscousgoo2021 TBF, "historical mode" in 3 Kingdoms included absolutely everything that was also in older historical TW titles. It only seems bland because we now have romance/mythical modes to compare it to.

Personally I liked Shogun 2 better than WH or 3K. Dont get me wrong they're all good games. Just feels like as a historical fan CA kinda threw us all under the bus the moment WH started making money.
@@jodofe4879 I don't think you understand my point. 3K was designed specifically for "Romance" mode. Originally, there was no "historical" mode. All they did to remedy this was removed many of the feature specifically created for romance. They didn't create new mechanics or design mechanics around historical mode. They just simply removed or disabled features from romance.
That's my point. 3K would have been a completely different game had it been designed from a historical context from the start. It was only revised after all the backlash from fans. (Same as Troy, but in the opposite direction.)
@@jodofe4879 No, it was nothing like older TW games. It was designed-in-spreadsheet arcade-like garbage. CA don't know how to make a TW game any more, which is why it's all hype and gimmicks now.
Really hope this isn't the last dlc they make for the game, I'd love to see the Nemean Lion or the Erymanthian Boar get added in a similar way to the Hydra and Cerberus. And would also love to see more Truth-behind-Myth units because CA's interpretations of them are really cool.
It depends sales of the dlc, if its low then it most probably be the last dlc like the nanman dlc in three kingdom

likely the biggest 180 a game has done for me personally. I didn't have much interest in Troy until now, however, I do still love historical games and will always hold out hope for Medieval 3 or perhaps a sequel to Empire.
Really look forward to this! But probably the best thing is that this is a sign that CA actually listen to the community :)
I think they planned it from beginning. They just waited when this game will be available on Steam
I don’t play three kingdoms but seeing as they abandoned that game when people were expecting more updates I’m not too sure about that.
@@FerzenRPG I actually don't think so because they drove "the truth behind the myth" really hard last year. It was not well received from a large part of the community when released. First of any sign of this being a part of the plan, was when they released the multiplayer mode. But I could be wrong of course.
@@marcgw496 I was also very surprised about CA dropping 3K. But what many doesn't seem to realize is that this could be a good thing.
@@marcgw496 They did drop 3k, but they have said they are doing a different game in the same setting. I don't think that new game was originally planned, I am fairly certain they originally planned for 3k to have a longer lifespan. The only thing that remains to be seen is what exactly that new game is, if they found a new concept that was impossible to implement in the existing 3k, or if it's just a cheap cashgrab.

I mean... This should have been the game a year ago... I guess I can't complain cause it's free.
Especially since they have all three modes of play. Anyone bitching at this point is just hating on general principle.
It's a predictable move by CA and shows they've given up any ambition of ever making another ground-breaking game again. It's all semi-annual releases and DLC, and whenever it doesn't sell, mistreated fans are left with a broken mess. The issue is and always has been gameplay design; CA can't manage it any more so it's now about volume of content they can produce.

Would be a good idea. Mythos armies of different cultures fighting each other. Minotaurs fighting jotunn, rakshasha versus tengu. Just something to think about.

@@CBRN-115 this game? No. It is loosely based off of Greek myth. There is a book called Mythos by the English comedian/actor Stephen Fry which is his retelling of the Greek myths.
He is a wonderfully warm and intelligent man.

The "stay away from the beach"-monster animation is the same as for the monster in the trailer for the pirate coast dlc

Was a bit disappointed at the release that it was just Humans in a timeline filled with Myths and Creatures of the Greek Lore.

I really love the myth units in this, they look much better then warhammer, like the Minotaur, I wasn’t sure if to expect just another beastmen unit or a brand new model, and after seeing the new Minotaur, I love it, because it has the Greek mythical look and feel to it that should be feared every time I see one coming haha

well all the more reason to stay out of the water if were gonna get a kraken XD, not sure which one of the gods controls the kraken, but if my memory serves right it is Posidon who has control of it and might be a good reason to ensure that invaders might get heavly weakend when you got a mythical terror of the deep to harrash their fleets
Considering that the kraken has nothing to do with greek mythology, probably not.

yep lol wouldn't be surprised at all if they took alot of the stock stuff and just reused it here.
These are all reskins from Warhammer. Of course many of the Warhammer creatures are based on Greek myth so it only makes sense.
@@Caldwing I guess but even then its just so blatant ya know? I would think werewolf creatures might behave a bit differently in one universe to another no? I guess not.
I mean the animations work, creating assets from scratch costs time, money and manpower that could be dedicated to more stuff.
