    @Mahfireballs 2 λ…„ μ „ +72

    Wasn't really interested in Troy when it first came out, mostly because it didn't chose for Mythical or Historical but tried to please both and in doing so disappointed all. So real happy to now have the 3 modes in campaign and multiplayer/custom battles. Also loving some features that are being added like (some (single Entity)) flying units being able to land without having to engage (something I sorely miss. in WH I-II), having a bit smarter supply lines system. Where growing increases the cost to try prevent or delay the snowballing which happen in all total war (and most strategy games) campaigns. But also have bonuses when you grow despite the increased cost of units. Also really loved to hear that it's a bit more in depth and smart and not just the more armies or units you have the more efficiency required. But that it actually keeps in account which tier of unit it consists of (and rather how many units then how many armies?). So you are not "forced" into making only doomstacks if you want to play efficient.
    Further I didn't like single entity heroes, collision and combat and just the overall look of units as they were to fantastical and shiny for my taste. I rather have them a bit grim especially in a historical title. And sure it was not made by the main studio, and is now branded as a Saga title. But that doesn't mean I enjoy it any more. Also campaign didn't feel like it had that much to offer in terms of mechanics or innovations. There was also quite some balance issues (Chariots, heroes, diplo,...) but it happens and I don't dislike all.
    The only thing I really really liked was the diplomacy (Just as 3K) (even if it was really exploitable at launch, just ask 3K) and how the other currencies interacted with it. But now I'm seeing more and more things I like, making me want to pick up the game. Which I got for free on the Epic games but barely bothered with ever since as I'm still playing WHII, Med II, Rome and the occasional Shogun 2,...
    So real happy with these updates and hope you guys learned a lot from this. (I think mainly the Diplo in this and 3K is a huge improvement over all older titles, people like Historical and Mythological total wars but not something in between, people like interesting battle maps but it has to have variation and the scale has to fit (Sieges looked almost as bad in this as in WH) If you want interesting sieges look at Med II or Thrones of Britannia because sieges (and the idea of the recruitment system) are the only good things that came out of ToB as far as I remember.
    Ans most of all people like choice hence why the decade old titles are still played and revered despite their shortfalls and outdated looks and worse features and no content for 15 years. Those games gave so much freedom and choice, making for so much to do despite not having nearly as much features or units as in newer titles. The fact they are so moddable also is a real big part but that one’s again goes back to more freedom in what you want to do in your campaign. And despite Med II and Rome I being so easy you could still find a challenge in blitzing,... So loving stuff like the option of Generals to get new bodyguards, but not forcing them on them but being able to swap them in and out as mounts in WH.

      @@sownheard He means cheap units. With the supply lines, you are penalized for every army rather than the units themselves, making quality much better than quantity. With the new system, you can have a bunch of armies with a bit of elite and a lot of chaff, without being "penalized" for every cheap unit. In the older system, having a cheap army guarding one of your borders would inflate the cost of your other armies for no real reason.

      @Cornelia Don't worry, this historical mode made the game look a lot more interesting to pick up. Troy is in a complete different setting or even genre (mythological can be compared to fantasy but isn't exactly that), but still, I personally not that interested to play the Mythos game mode while I can have a much better fantasy experience in Warhammer with much better variety. What Warhammer can't offer is the feeling of realism and immersion that and historical mode would do. Maybe you assumed that I was denying Troy more refined game and campaign mechanics, sorry but that wasn't my intention, in Total War I just value battles a lot more than campaign mechanics.

      Just a bit more than the bodyguards so You have time to pull them out of danger

    I like quite a bit of the ideas in here, but as it always is devil lies in the details and only way to truly know is seeing how all those systems play together. I especially like the general units upgrade it makes sense actually & something to strive for, what I don't necessarily like is new units from events as opposed to new units from conquering the provinces, it was one of the best system in Medieval Total War 1 the game that CA should be closely looking at when it comes to gameplay immersion, even though being now pretty dated ofc

    • @GermanOlle

    • @MrSafior
      @MrSafior 2 λ…„ μ „ +1

      @Cornelia They should do mix-gender for the historical mode, instead of female-only from the myth.

    • @MrSafior
      @MrSafior 2 λ…„ μ „ +3

      @Cornelia That should be exclusif for the Myth mode, not the historical!

    • @Bubblesofbliss1904
      @Bubblesofbliss1904 2 λ…„ μ „ +2

      @Cornelia I think the Amazons are out of place, especially when talking in terms of "truth behind the myth". The Trojan war, or something similar, most probably happened, and even if the game is based around the Iliad, a "historical mode" should take the "truth behind the myth" approach a step further and reduce the most far-fetched elements of the Trojan war myth. You know, like a tribe of warrior women that actually can, even in the slightest, threaten an army composed of men.

  • @bastigerhards4934
    @bastigerhards4934 2 λ…„ μ „

    Its funny that the historical mode fits the Ilias better than the other two modes. Besides for Gods actively entering battle, there are no mythical events happening or mythical unitis battling. And as every single person in the illias is treated as a (more or less powerfull) hero, it doesnt really makes sense to highlight the armyleaders that much

  • @davewxc
    @davewxc 2 λ…„ μ „

    Good, historical is what I needed. I like the more realistic play.
    A single hero who is untouched by arrows and can destroy entire armies by himself is something I don't like in my strategy games. It belongs more in in single player RPG where you can be a one man army.
    I'll also give Truth behind myth a try to see if it gets the balanced right.

    Thank you, I'm reinstalling now. I know Warhammer has become a safe bet (even I have bought both games and a DLC for the second), I and many others are quite tired of the non stop fantasy games being pumped out by a originally grounded franchise. I really am grateful for this and hope it's a sign of things to come.
