My Dad passed away last March, right before the whole COVID19 thing and over a month before my third niece was born. This song has always reminded my of my grandfather. My dad had been saying that he was going to die anytime now, so i was kind of prepared for the news. Right now, my parents are on a work trip in Mexico and about 40 minutes ago, they called to say that my grandfather had died. I had thought about that moment a lot and i was so scared of it, because i know that he lived a full life, he accomplished a lot of things and he formed a great big family, but i know that this is going to be terribly hard for the rest of my family. My grandfather was 101 years old; throughout his life, he has seen many people he loves come and go, and i guess it was just a matter of time until his turn came. I'm so proud of him, because he was happy despite everything, ye was incredibly smart and he had so many experiences and stories to tell. I can't helo but feel bad because i didn't talk to him more, and he was such a great inspiration but i never got to tell him that i loved him or that i was thankful for everything he had done. He liked art, he loved music and painting and even at his age, he played his instrument almost daily and quitted painting only a few years ago due to the damage in his vision. He always told me to pursue my dreams and to do art because it was the most beautiful thing. He told me to sit on my piano and play the notes that i wanted even though my parents or my teacher wouldn't like it. He told me to sing to my mom, and that she was probably going to be weirded outbut she would like it. I've never done these things and to be honest, i probably won't be able to do it in the future as long as i live with my family. My point is that i wish i had spent more time with him, i wish i hadn't been so shy to sing with him when he taught me a song he knew. I think he also knew that he had done more than enough in his life, which makes me feel a little relieved but it's still hard. And i don't know what to say to the rest of my family, or to my parents that aren't even in the country until next week. Value your grandparents and your families, abd make sure they know how much they mean to you, because tomorrow they might not even be here anymore. I love you grandpa...

The line about the grandpa not knowing Tyler the way he knew the grandpa always hits hard. I was really close to my maternal grandma growing up but nowadays there's not much left of the headstrong farmer that once was. Nowadays she just sits at home, hums and worries about money. My mom and I live close so we can take care of grandma and grandpa (he's in good health thank almighty) but we haven't exactly been able to convince her of that. It really is devistating to slowly lose the people you know, to have them right *there* but still not really there

My grandfather passed away today. This song helps me keep going. This song describes my feelings very well. As Tyler's grandfather was a legend to him, my grandfather was a legend to me as well. I went to their concert in New Orleans and met them. Sweet babies. Before Tyler & Josh preformed this Tyler said it was dedicated to his grandpa that passed. He sang it with so much heart. For me, it makes me think of my aunt who died from breast cancer when I was 10. 💛

My Dad passed away last March, right before the whole COVID19 thing and over a month before my third niece was born. It's been difficult and painful to not have him around and talk to because he was my anchor. I'll be using this song to make him a tribute, for what would have been his 70th birthday this September. Thank You TyJo , my fren, for making music that makes things hurt less.

We took my grandpa out to lunch the same day he got diagnosed with alzheimers/parkinsons and my sister held the door. "Thank you sir" he said as if to a stranger. He didn't recognize her. Then he told my mom he was looking for his family, confusing her for a hostess. She just pointed to our table. It's hard to watch it every damn day.

i never really knew mines. my grandmother died a couple of years ago and she was in mexico so i didnt go to see her funeral (only my parents went). she was the only grandparent i ever knew. she was my moms mother and even though i didnt know her well, i felt horrible for my mom and rest of our family. appreciate your grandparents while you still have them.
My grandpa lost his memory for 2 years before he died, he didn't remember me yet held my hand in his death bed and smiled. He was the kindest man I've ever met, he was one of the only few good things that I had as a kid. He really is a legend in my own eyes. I never got to say goodbye.

One of my biggest regrets was, I knew was dying and even though we lived in the same house I did all I could to avoid him

This song has always reminded my of my grandfather. My dad had been saying that he was going to die anytime now, so i was kind of prepared for the news. Right now, my parents are on a work trip in Mexico and about 40 minutes ago, they called to say that my grandfather had died. I had thought about that moment a lot and i was so scared of it, because i know that he lived a full life, he accomplished a lot of things and he formed a great big family, but i know that this is going to be terribly hard for the rest of my family. My grandfather was 101 years old; throughout his life, he has seen many people he loves come and go, and i guess it was just a matter of time until his turn came. I'm so proud of him, because he was happy despite everything, ye was incredibly smart and he had so many experiences and stories to tell. I can't helo but feel bad because i didn't talk to him more, and he was such a great inspiration but i never got to tell him that i loved him or that i was thankful for everything he had done. He liked art, he loved music and painting and even at his age, he played his instrument almost daily and quitted painting only a few years ago due to the damage in his vision. He always told me to pursue my dreams and to do art because it was the most beautiful thing. He told me to sit on my piano and play the notes that i wanted even though my parents or my teacher wouldn't like it. He told me to sing to my mom, and that she was probably going to be weirded outbut she would like it. I've never done these things and to be honest, i probably won't be able to do it in the future as long as i live with my family. My point is that i wish i had spent more time with him, i wish i hadn't been so shy to sing with him when he taught me a song he knew. I think he also knew that he had done more than enough in his life, which makes me feel a little relieved but it's still hard. And i don't know what to say to the rest of my family, or to my parents that aren't even in the country until next week.
Value your grandparents and your families, abd make sure they know how much they mean to you, because tomorrow they might not even be here anymore.

They played this live when I went to a concert of theirs in june, I cried uncontrollably the whole time, I could only imagine how much Tyler was hurting. I had listened to this when my great grandfather passed away too. This song holds a very special place in my heart.

He was so happy that he could walk normally without help. I’m tearing up as I’m writing this. I’ll have that joy on my mind always and I’ll always remember him like that.
