That’s what I’ve been saying! But I didn’t want to get canceled
in my opinion, they can experiment freely with Japanese comeback as ppl there actually didn't complain much. you can see how diverse they got with their Japanese songs (Candy Pop to Bulldozer to Breakthrough to Fake and True to Kura Kura to powerful Perfect World again)
But with Korean comeback they really show their changes in a slow but steady pattern, testing the market and making sure they are not making abrupt changes to their concept from Cheer Up to Fancy to Feel Special to Cry For Me, all of those songs concept slowly show a pattern of a girl growing up into a woman. They want to solidify the fans' support while maintaining changes, that's why they took it slow.

That clearly your personal opinion, but I don't see the need to compare songs everytime (or compare anything at all), yhese two songs are so different and they are so new and experimental for Twice, they are the first group to use bosa nova and a chill song for summer when most of groups are doing the typical and generic upbeat tracks . And they are doing something so different from their others Japanese songs which usually have a positive bubbly and romantic feel, with perfect world and they have been trying that, not just now but for some time (see the theme of KURA KURA) ,if you focus on the songs, their lyrics and moods you see that Twice are telling a story about having a crush ,then young love, getting the happiness from it, then getting heart breaks and finally with this song deciding to move on from the relationship because it becomes toxic and sad.

For those wondering the meaning behind the song, it’s not exactly them singing about a toxic relationship with an ex. Most of the Japanese songs they release is all about Once and Thrice(the haters). This song is about how the haters can’t stop them and the people with the mask in the video represents Thrice hiding behind a mask(twice gets quite a lot of hate through online) you can see it in the lyrics how they basically telling me that they can’t hurt them, to get out get lost
Their other Japanese song Better is about Once and how Once makes them feel loved and better despite Thrice trying to bring them down, think of it like the song Feel Special which was the song of how the members are there for each other, Better is about how Once also there for them. Breakthrough was about Twice breaking through all the obstacles, struggles and hate they’ve face as idols and a group

Kura Kura is about different kind of relationships & Perfect World is a dig at how seamless the staged love seems but its destructive! Its just my opinion!

What is it that they are not supporting? Achieving some random view number for bragging rights? People stream K-comebacks because there are music show wins at stake via those SNS points. There are nothing similar for J-comebacks. In fact, if you really want to support their J-comebacks, you should be buying the digitals and physical when they come out, or stream via Japanese streaming sites or listen to the official YT audio, because those metrics are more important in the Japanese market. Look around at the Japanese artists' MVs - do you see their fans obsessing over high YT views? Most people who obsess over YT views do so because they spend zero $$ on physicals or digitals. But J-Onces are the one who spend the most. Don't forget that most YT views comes from Japan and J-Onces. It's just that for J-comebacks, they focus on the important things. Why do you think some Twice songs chart better in Japan than in SK?
