I study in Rome and have seen the passion firsthand as well. Even the university guys are so competitive. Sometimes I get the better of them though which is not bad for someone from India! I love it when the guys say "Bravo!" or "nostra! nostra!". Rome is my second home and I love and respect my Italian friends and their culture. Forza Italia!

@@leobri6133 Every thing about Rome is sensational. Only transportation system is a bit complex and waste collection system is not efficient. Night life is absolutely crazy! At least it was before the pandemic but as the rules have relaxed, people are now spending more and more time late at night. I think you won't regret studying in Rome. People get absolutely obsessed with this city. For Italians, it is even more enjoyable I guess because they know Italian of course but there are many things for foreigners like me as well. I wish you good luck for your future mate!

The Italian national football team is special not so much for the talents or for the tactics, (of which for years they have been the masters), but for the fact that our national team is always underestimated when it wins a world cup or a Eurocup; no one gives it one euro and instead in the end it is able to surprise everyone. In two words "resilient and passionate" like no one else.

Seeing how Italy transition from negative defensive side to a beautiful attacking side without losing their defensive prowess is so beautiful and tbh just at the right time like how an attacking minded Mancini guided a new era Italy winning the Euro along the way remained unbeaten in 34 matches! If a defensive Italy was dreadful enough for opponents now they have to contend against an attacking as well as possession dominating side too! This Euro 2020/21 winning Italy is top!
In 2006 the moving parts were Pirlo (deciding the action) and Totti moving from a striking position to a centre-forward. The defence was classic, but in an attack position it became a trident with Pirlo at its centre and an extra man. Both Pirlo and the forward man would move, so you would never know if it was a trident with a free man or a box with Pirlo at its centre. The midfield, even in 2006, was a half moon developing on the sides instead of defending. This is why Italy's 4-4-2 is so much more than defence and a few lone strikers.
When it comes to football, Italian football, players, coaches and their methods, tactics, way of thinking etc are undisputedly the best.
Right from Nereo Rocco Arrigo Sacchi, Marcelo Lippi, Fabio Capello to Carlo Ancellotti, Claudio Ranieri, Max Allegri, Antonio Conte, Roberto Mancini, Gasperini, Sarri etc They had and still have so many fabulous coaches. Name me one single country that has so many quality coaches!

It is not just a matter of tactical and defensive excellence: Italians play with a passion and feel for the game that is unrivalled in Europe, only South Americans perhaps are equally passionate. They thrive under difficult circumstances and relish a challenge while perhaps struggling in easier fixtures. Also Italian footballers have got good technique and thinking and can adapt to various circumstances. Against stronger teams they are happy to soak pressure and play on the break, but at other times are also able to take the initiative.
watching them win in 2006 was great for my family. Germany and Italy are the giants of Europe, but then you got Brazil with 5 World Cups. so we’ll see who’s the best in the future

Wow, just realised so many great coach actually from Italy!
Ranieri won premier league with Leicester; Conte with Chelsea;Di Matteo champions league with Chelsea; Spalletti Russian league with Zenith; Mancini premier league with Manchester city; Ancelotti Bundesliga with Bayern Munich; Trapattoni Bundesliga with Bayern Munich; Ancelotti Spanish Liga with Real Madrid and 2 Champions league with Milan; Capello Spanish Liga with Real Madrid,and 2 Champions league with Milan.
And now Italy are champions of Europe. Call me a dreamer but I feel Italian football will again be dominating the European scene. I believe the problem this last decade ( the first 5 years I’d say) was that any player with a good agent was able to move to a big Italian club but with no merit at all. And now it seems clubs realized that and started giving Italian youngsters the chance to play for their respective teams. I sure hope I’m right because Italian football to me is where the real game is.
For me, it's where FOOTBALL BELONGS.

this is what I always admire about Italian football philosophy. Tactics. Especially their coach. They know how to act and react. how to interchange the game in a certain conditions. their player also easily adapt to variety kinds of play. they commit to get it done. they play effectively no matter the style as long as you can win. The best way I can put it is they play collectively, shoulder-to-shoulders, getting rid of all prestigious superstar status and media attention. They play because they have objective, to win the competition, rather than increasing their celebrity status as an overpriced players to get attention from some big clubs.
Many may not like this philosophy because its boring, slow, lack of entertainment etc, but for me as long as it worked, it works.
But when you look at Italy now, they starting to change, combining attack and defense without removing their catenaccio defending. The changing from not qualifying in WC 2018 to Euro 2020 Champion in a very short time is really astonishing, worth an example for any team in the future.
They can play with the best of them too and even South American players will tell you, ITALY was the place to go play your FOOTBALL.
Incredible how much they've changed this Euros!

Italian football has that charm and suspense about it which you can't really say for most nations in their continent(apart from the Germans and Dutch). Combined with their intuition and creativity with the way the game operates, it's no wonder why they are forced to be reckoned with. Despite not qualifying for their second world cup in a row, it hasn't dented their future plans to dominate world football. Roberto Mancini has the blueprint for this team to succeed in his own image, I feel he is one or two strikers away from achieving greatness.

The proof is in the pudding as they say. Look at the trophy case of Italian coaches. Ancelotti, Lippi, Capello, Trappatoni, Sacchi, Rocco, Ranieri etc. Brilliant. I love and respect Italian soccer.
A mention, among the best Italian coaches is to do also to Zdenek Zeman, the Czech coach naturalized Italian, that with Foggia was doing the most spectacular and offensive game still today will be seen. Total football overall when in Italy there still was the Catenaccio mentality.

Maybe just a coincidence, but 13 world cups were won by countries with the biggest Italian ancestry numbers.

The 1rst italian coach to introduce the offensive tactic style inspired by Hollande total football has been Luis Vinicio in 1973-76 Napoli football club. If Napoli hadn't given away its best players to Juventus football club in 1972 (goalkeeper Dino Zoff and foreword Jose' Altafini) it would have probably won the championship, instead it was second 2 points behind Juventus in the 1974-75 tounament, having lost the home match 2-6 against Juventus. Probably for this reason it wasn't untill Sacchi's Milan that the new offensive football style would spread in Italy.
well that would remain to be seen, that juve had actually won the league with 2 games in advance and 4 points advantage (that would be equivalent to 6 today with 3 points win) and then took a bit the foot off and ended with 2. It is possible Naples could have won with Altafini but I doubt it. In any case Vinicio was an innovator and that Napoli was a good team

Lippi's Juventus brought a different way to do the pressing between the middle of the 90s till early 2000 reaching 3 times the champions league final in a row and winning the first in 1996. Listen, if you don't know things just don't try to keep to be right just because you can't let it go.
P.s it was a different way of press from Sacchi , Lippi was the first coach to implement a 443 with high pressing.

Funny how whenever Italian Football dipped, it was always an awakened innovative AC Milan that brought it back to life.

Don’t how many tournaments Italy got screwed over by refs. SO MANY, even this Euro 2020, the Belgium game, penalty against Italy that was not even a yellow card. Italy would have at least 2 other World Cup and 1 more Euro, if not for referees determining the outcome. One of the worse was 2002 World Cup. But games Italy won like 2006 final France gets a penalty for a complete dive. Euro 2000, Semi- final. Italy gets to TWO penalties against them, half the game they’re playing with 10 men, more than half the team got yellow cards, the won anyways, but it hurt them in the finals.
