Dustin had a great gameplan. We all know Dustin starts slow, takes 90 seconds to feel out his opponent while Conor starts out fast guns blazing. Dustin has been knocked out under 2 mins the last time so he remembers this. He shot for the takedown when conor was fresh, which threw conor off a little bit. Conor was able to handle his own on the ground, but the grappling was buying Dustin enough time away from Conor’s standing combinations. The grappling took a little from each of their gas tanks, and when they stood up conor tagged him clean a few times, so Dustin proceeded to attack the lead leg of the southpaw fighter conor while eating some shots. Then when Conor’s leg was compromised he found the perfect timing of when conor had his back to the octagon and closed the distance and landed his combinations for the finish. Conor should have clinched more or been more aggressive after he tagged Dustin and maybe the fight could have gone his way, hindsight is 20/20 no less. Absolutely brilliant gameplan by mike brown and Dustin. Props to them, couldn’t happen to a better person
Agree with everything (not that it's a matter of agreement, as those are empirical facts), but I'd add that his defense, although it's always been good, was ultra sharp tonight, and it was satisfying to see him take Conor's absolute best shot, a flush pull counter, right on the chin, and not get flustered.

It was a great fight and congrats to Poirier. Conor I think fell into just looking for that perfect shot. He caught Dustin but let him reset and compose building his confidence in his own boxing and finding his range to the point he jumped on McGregor as soon as he had him positioned by the fence and fatigued to put him away.
